Whats your hobby?

What's my hobby?

Stalking Trevor via email - LOL!!

(I'm kidding!!)

I read a lot, I still write occasionally, but honestly working out and working at my "real" job keeps me pretty busy. I guess my "hobby" is posting on fitness sites! LOL!!

JAFitMama,

If you like Patricia Cornwell, you need to try Anne Rule, too. I'm addicted to her stuff now like I was Cornwell.

If you're looking for a good hobby, pick up a few magazines (from different genres - for example, Muscle and Fitness, Log Home Living, Golfer's Digest, Arts & Crafts, Sunset (I subscribe to this magazine), and Cooking Light), and even pick up a coursebook at the local college for a listing of their continuing education classes. Start reading, being aware of things that spark your interest. Those things can become your hobbies. I've found so many things I'd be interested in making a hobby out of from college coursebooks and magazines that there's no way I can do them all!

As for my hobbies:

I consider exercise a hobby.

I also collect music (I seek out hard-to-find or "different" music - I've found a few incredible musical gems that not many people are aware of: John Serrie, Lara Fabian, Secret Garden, 2002, Troika (their song "Kuan Yin" is probably the best piece of music I have ever heard - it takes me to another place), just to name a few). I like to go to Amazon.com, look up an artist, then start clicking through the trail of links to "artists who bought this CD also bought these:" I've found some good ones that way, and the possibilities are endless. I put together an incredible wedding soundtrack for my wedding earlier this year by doing this.

I also love to read. I have quite a collection of books, and the topics are all over the map: Fiction, nonfiction, self-help, inspirational, educational, mystery, science fiction, investigative, etc.

Nice to see what others do! I love taking pictures of the kids. When I retire from teaching I would love to photograph weddings and little kids. I like organizing the house; desks, closets, drawers, etc. About as weird as my exercising hobby....I love to exercise so much that my hubby has officially stated if I had to choose him or exercising he's afraid I'd let him go :7 !

I use to cross stitch but I'd rather read Oxygen, Newsweek, or People now. In the spring and summer I do lots of "flowering", which the girls enjoy helping me with.

Reading AND writing!
You might be interested in Julia Cameron's book, THE ARTIST'S WAY. Cameron helps you recover your creative side -- and she gives you lots of exercizes and ideas to get the creative juices flowing.

I consider working out a hobby...it's fun, it's primarily for me (though keeping me fit and healthy is good for my family:)), and collecting my fitness vids and books.

I also like reading, posting on forums like this one, watching really old movies (like on FMC and TCM), sewing (will need a whole new wardrobe if I keep losing weight like I have been...thanks WW), playing MahJongg on my computer or some other little games...they make me think and keep my hands busy and I can still watch tv...on which I also like National Geographic or Discovery or one of the History channels...and there's crocheting...my kids say I don't relax well...guess I'm sort of hyper:)

While I was raising children I did not do much for myself, I regret that but now that my kids are grown and gone I have become kind of selfish.

I organize my workouts, make rotations, keep a notebook of my food, recipes and workouts, and look for health and fitness information

I love to read

I play softball in the Spring and the Fall

I take Karate

I garden in the spring and summer

and I take spurts of sewing and doing various crafts but I am not too crafty so they are small short projects!

Hope this helps you some!

Besides exercising with Cathe, I play softball on my neighborhood co-ed league in the spring and fall. However, when I am not doing this I like to cross-stitch & draw. Right now I am working on a pencil drawing of my 2 year old DS and DH to give to my MIL for Christmas. I also like to sew, but since the sew machine takes up the whole table and I have to put it away frequently, I don't do much sewing.

I would like to eventually take up crocheting, quilting, & one-brush stroke painting, but it is hard enough trying to fit in my hobbies as it is. Maybe as DS gets older than I will be able to do more.

I have a few, but do some more than others, I paint with acrylics, quilt and make some clothes, making teddy bears. I also know how to crochet, just haven't done it in a long time.
I used to consider working out a hobby, now its just a way of life....we also like to go looking thru Antique stores..... Rhonda

I makeover old Barbies for a hobby, but my work schedule doesn't allow much time for it. I love to change their hair and sew them outfits I envision for them.
I also write some poetry,
I love to listen to music and have a huge CD collection,
and of course exercise!!!

:D

Connie - I love to read, too, and find that I kind of am in a rut with authors and genres. I usually stick to horror or fantasy (Stephen King, Tolkein). I know that I like some of the classic authors (Mark Twain, Steinbeck, Dickens) and will read some of them when I feel I've had too much brain candy with Stephen King.

I'd love to get some suggestions for other authors. I also like to listen to audiobooks on CD. I get them out of the library and listen to them on my commute to/from work. I got hooked on that last spring when my mother had cancer and I had to drive 4 hours each way to visit her. (for mom's of new babies - these are great for soothing a child on a car trip. Paul Newman reading Huckleberry Finn made my daughter stop crying every time). I've got The Da Vinci Code on request right now. Can't wait for that one.

And of course, anyone else with some suggestions I'd love to hear them!
Thanks!
