What's Up with the Blue Cord on Tampax?

I thought something was wrong with me this morning when I discovered that the cord on my tampon was blue! Then I realized that Tampax is making their Pearl tampons that way. I opened a new one to check and it was blue, too. WT???? Does anybody know why they are using a blue cord? That kind of grosses me out.

As far as Tampax.... I have no idea! I haven't had to use one since January 2008! Thank you pregnancy & nursing!

It's not blue initially but turns blue. I think it's supposed to tell you when it's ready to be changed b/c it turns blue gradually while you are wearing it.

Ooooooh, really? I admit I kinda didn't get it either about the color. But, that's actually...creepy...really. Color-change tampon string? I think we've gone too far. Honestly, how techologically advanced do we really need our feminine hygeine products?

Ahhhh, I just watch the movie Idiocracy by Mike Judge and now I keep seeing things that will verify this dumby future existence and now this..... So days later on a lite flow someone wouldn't have changed it because it didn't turn blue and they sue tampax because they now have toxic shock?
