What's the WORST movie you've seen?

Uh, did you have to post that I actually went to that movie? How embarrassing! :p

Yes it was unbearably, unbelievably awful. DH and I have a good friend (who has since moved away) who used to drag us to terrible movies because he found them to be hilarious. Sometimes he was right, but even he couldn't stomach beerfest.

He made us see Get Rich or Die Tryin' (the biographical movie about 50 cent). Well, it was ridiculous and awful of course, but quite funny too. I mean, 50 cent could not convincingly play himself! And he played himself from like age 14 to however old he is now, and they didn't bother trying to change his appearance. Actually, none of the actors aged in the movie, even though it spanned 20 years or something. Also, we about died laughing when in one scene of the movie, 50 cent is clean-shaven in some shots and has a beard in others!

Battlefield Earth! x( x( x( I can't believe DH and I went to see this in the theatre when it came out. We should have left in the middle of the movie and demanded our money back.

"Gerry". An indie film with Matt Damon and Casey Affleck. Oh my LANDS it sucked. Minimalist stuff with a barely perceptible plot and maybe five words of dialogue in the whole dang movie. (Okay, maybe fifty words. Still.)

Also wasn't thrilled with "Happy Feet". It was cute, but then went all meandering and political.

OK...the first one to come to mind is a made for TV movie from the mid-90s called "The Beast". It was originally a book written by Peter Benchley ("Jaws" author) about a man-eating giant squid in the Pacific Northwest.

Let's say the story had the potential to be an interesting, semi-scientific fun, cool monster movie, but some dumbass writers decided the story needed at least 5 other subplots, new relationships, old relationships, blah, blah, blah that it became an annoying peice of crap where you just wanted the squid to win!!

Whew...<end rant>

Another one from 1979 - "The Prophecy" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079758/

Mutant bear terrorizes a Maine logging community. The scariest thing in this movie is Robert Foxworth's overbearing facial hair. This was definitely Mystery Science Theater 3000 material...all the way.

Another vote for Titanic here. Flaws too numerous to mention but the usual 'all the rich people are horrid and all the poor people are nice' thing gets me every time. How many more times do we have to see those patronising 'o the oirish havin' a wonderful time, singin' and dancin'' scenes?!

Just thinking about it makes me want to pull my hair out!

For me it was the final Star Wars film--you know, when Anakin Skywalker finally emerged as Darth Vader. Whoever played him was one of the worst actors ever "discovered" by George Lucas. The acting was wooden, the dialogue was often ridiculous, and I still cannot fathom how people could take the film seriously. I often found myself giggling or sighing in exasperation at what were supposed to be serious moments. "Younglings"--c'mon, who made that word up?

I have to agree with Donna on "What Dreams May Come"...sooo bad..
I hated "The Talented Mr. Ripley", I've erased it from my memory, don't know why I hated it, just did.

I've been trying to think of a movie I saw years ago with Richard Chamberlain and Sharon Stone, they were trying to rip off "Raiders of the Lost Arc" and made an embarrassing mess of it, can't remember the title though I do remember that it was horrid. ETA *Ding Ding Ding* I remember the name of that horrid movie now! 'King Solomon's Mines'...P.U.!! now that was a stinker!!:7

The first movie I ever walked out of was "Tess", that's about 27 years ago now...

Actually I had problems with all three of latest Star Wars movies. Totally wooden acting all around and zero chemistry between Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen.

Actually, I think the only decent acting job I've seen Natalie Portman do was one of her first, "The Professional" (aka Leon) with Jean Reno. That was a decent movie.

Oh! the "Raiders of the Lost Ark" made me remember one that I hated...."The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen". TERRIBLE! And that makes me remember "Van Helsing"....awful....and "The Hulk". Pee-uuuuuu!!!!

For the record - I love the 1st and 3rd Raiders movies. Not so much the 2nd. Don't like whole "cannibal" concept.

I count myself lucky that I've managed to avoid most of the really bad stuff out there. But I will agree on Titanic - hated it. Also a horrible movie from the mid-90s called Kama Sutra (interestingly, one of the main characters is now Said, on Lost). And I know I will be alone here, but I HATED and to this day do not understand Forest Gump. "Run Forest!" Ugh! Someday maybe I'll give it a second shot, but I hated it the first time.
I'm sure there are others, but I've blocked them out of my memory.

How about one of the BEST................My Best Friend's Wedding!

Love that darn movie!

:)

I have seen lots of bad ones too. There are so many that I cannot even name them right now!

What's that one called with Jennifer Aniston and Jake Gylenhall (sp?) The good girl I think - freaking horrible and he was in one called Donnie Darko I had to turn it off.

Another vote for Sideways too. That was so boring.

BAPS!!!!!!!!!!! (Black African Princess)

My sister no longer has any movie recommendation credibility with dh and me.

Wow! You guys have really seen some stinkers!

There are so many categories into which we can sort the "truly bad films" we have seen. I mean there's the completely crappy films, don't bother category, into which I stuff anything that smacks of National lampoon's Animal House, then there's the "Christ! What were they thinking?!!" category where previously good actors go very bad, so let's stick Dumb and Dumber in there, then there's films which everyone said were brilliant and they so totally suck you can't believe you spent good money on them and wasted valuable time on them when you could have been doing a Cathe workout, and Stranger than Fiction goes right in there, along with I heart Huckabees, and Leningrad Cowboys Go America, some weirdo arty rubbish from the 80's that my most beloved movie critic said was "a must"!!

So many bad films, so little time to waste watching any of them!

Still, Titanic?!?!?!?!? I liked that one....... but then, I like a good weepie now and again....
