what's stopping me from buying the new series

It's the use of the high step. I have a regular step that my friend gave me. I mean it does the job, it's just a bit short. It's not the same as the one used by Cathe and the gym. So I will need to buy the high step and all the risers since my risers won't fit on that step. Might as well buy the regular step of that size too! So buying the high step is expensive since it's really not that useful and easy to replace excepet for few moves. Do you all have the high step? If not, do you find it easy to replace it? I am kind of worried to buy the new serie and feel I can't do lots of the move without the step.

Thank you for your help

Not all that useful? Cathe uses the high step in TONS of workouts! I mean, there's the regular high step workouts (Challenge, Training, Circuit), then she uses it in L&G, ME, Bootcamp, Butts & Guts, GS Legs... I'm sure there are more. It's definitely worth the investment, IMO.

ok, may be it'd because i never really used it, i don't see really the use of it. I just feel that I can replace it with something else. I guess not...

I just got a high step this past Christmas and I love it. I did without for many years and just used a Rubbermaid step on top of my platform. It did the job, but it wasn't as sturdy or versatile as the high step and extra risers.

I use my high step so much. It's one of the few things I can say that I didn't realize how much I needed it until I got it. I love having the extra risers also. Of course, I already had the Original Step Company step, so the new high step/risers combined nicely with what I already had.

the only use I know of for a high=step is leg press, which cathe does on the 8 inch step in Muscle Max...so although it's a different effect, you can sub the 8 inch for the high step...unless there is some other use for the high step...but I can't think of one that I know of.

I put off getting the High Step then got the bundle w/the High Step DVDS --- LOVE THEM!!!!! :D

I do not regret my purchase one bit. I love the high step! I used to try and sub in other things like my big step, coffee tables, chairs, but once I used the High Step - it felt so much more sturdy and so easy to adjust the height!

I know money might be a hurdle but if you can, it's worth it!

Good luck!

Honestly, I use a tall step-stool. I can't have my head as high as she does, otherwise, without being very careful, I'd whack my head on the beams in my ceiling. Low ceiling + high step = not good!!!

I use my transfirmer. It works pretty well, not as versitile as Cathe's high step though. If the cost of the high step is bothering you, comb through garage sales for old "firm" stuff, or try a resale sports shop. Do you have "play it a again sports" by you? That's where I picked up my club step for a pretty good discount. Only $40.00 like new.

I used that fanny lifter years ago, but it is no where near as sturdy as the high step. The high step is the way to go. Leg presses aren't it's only use. The high step WO's uses it for cardio(with only a couple of risers). The platform is used for calve work. It's used in GS legs for floorwork. Not to mention, that my kitties love laying on it when i'm not using it! ;) All in all it's very versatile and you won't regret the purchase! :)

I think the high step is worth the investment. Not only for the 3 workouts that Cathe has especially for the high step, but also for calf raises, decline pushups, stiff legged deadlifts, glute raises and one legged squats.

I don't own a high step. My regular step goes up to 10 inches. Then I built a wooden frame that I can set the step on, which raises it up an additional 4 inches. That gives me a "high step." :)

In case anybody is interested, the frame is made of 2x4's, the length and width of the step. It's a 4-inch tall platform, with four upright braces (one on each end of the long sides), which hold the step in place.

If you bought enough risers, I imagine you could just use one end of the regular club step for any place the high step is used.

Plainly JM-very-HO!

My DH has a tool box that is also a step stool. It is very sturdy because it's full of tools. This is what I use. However, not that we have moved and I have my own w/out room I am thinking of asking for it for X-mas. I say if you can't afford it right now try to find a sturdy alternative to see if you would actually use it!

Do what I did: buy the regulars step and the high step top. You'll never use the both the regular and the high steps at the same time, so you won't need seperate risers for both. The top is about 35.00. And, yeah, in my opinion, it was a very worthwhile purchase. I had a fannylifter before, and I am glad to be rid of it. Just not as sturdy, IMO.

The high step is very versatile and has many uses (NOT just leg press!). Before I bought my high step, I used a Firm Fanny Lifter. The Fanny Lifter is just okay - it's not all that sturdy, and it's only offers 3 heights. The high step is much sturdier (read: SAFER) and can be adjusted in 2" incremements from 4" on up. If you get the Club Step with a 2-3 pairs of risers, then all you'd need is the High Step topper. Then you'd have a complete system. I bought my Club Step with 6 risers on eBay then ordered the high step topper. I couldn't be happier - I use them all.the.time. :)

I currently use the Firm Fanny Lifter but I find that you can only have two levels. After reading these posts I think I may get the high step with risers.

I think all of you may have just convinced me to purchase a high step. I just ordered the new series the other night! In the past, I have just raised my step up as high as it would go (also not the type of step Cathe uses), which is only about 6 or 8 inches, but it slips on the rug then, so it isn't very good. The only high step workout I currently own is Leaner Legs and I have only attempted it once.

Target.com had one for about $50 a while ago - not sure of the quality, though.
