What's everyone's calorie range while doing STS

The title's pretty self explanatory. I'm wondering what the calorie range everyone is eating, if you track calories, while doing STS.

If you want, it would be helpful I think to say how tall you are, if you want to gain or lose weight, cause that might be good information to have.

Thanks in advance!

Hey there! Two things:

First, I LOVE YOUR AVATAR. That cartoon episode if my absolute favorite! :)
Second, I haven't worn my heart rate monitor for STS, however I usually wear it on the cardio days. I have found that the calories burned calculation in the workout blender is VERY close to what my heart rate monitor says for all types of cardio. I have lost 20 lbs since January. I am on my second 3.5 mth rotation of STS with Cardio. HTH

5'7", 128 lbs., age 39.

1500 on weight days.
1350 - 1400 on cardio days.

This allows me to drop .5 to 1 lb. a week safely. If I eat more than that, I get thick around the middle. I can probably maintain at 1500.

Everyone is different, of course. And things may change with me over time, but right now, these numbers work for me.

*Edit: I forgot to add my goals.

I'm not looking to lose specifically, though my weight does drop when I watch my caloric intake. I'm more interesting in firming up and getting stronger. If a little extra padding disappears in the process, all the better.

In addition, I can gain up to 10 lbs. if I eat willy-nilly. So I have to be aware.

I am 45, 5'4 inches and weigh, at least in this moment, 114.

I track my calories on a spread sheet, I use Calorieking.com to get my figures.

My calories are the same as Lori's, and I stagger them also. If I hover above 1700 for too long I start to gain.

I have lost ten pounds, and would like to lose another five, but like Lori said, it is more about toning/tightening up and getting stronger. I'd like the loose layer of fat on my legs to vanish.

Janis and LaughingWater,
I am 5'2 and weigh about 125-127 - I lost very well on a 1500 calorie intake...BUT it was so hard! Mind you once I was doing it for a few weeks my stomach got used to the lesser food. Then my husband and I went out for dinner and even though I chose a small steak and salad and split dessert - it was like I fell off the wagon. It was hard to reign in the eating after that. I find it hard to live daily life on this calorie restriction with holidays, family event etc... How do you both avoid the munchies and growling stomach? I would love any tips you have. I now have about 5 lbs or so lose in order to lean out a little. Thanks in advance.

Hi Michefit

I have had weeks of higher calorie consumption, and eating foods that are not optimal, especially as I neared the end of STS Meso 2.

One tip I can give you is to plan ahead, plan what you are going to eat and when. I have noticed that if I wait too long to eat, or haven't eaten enough protein and good/whole/complex carbs and fibrous green leafy carbs that is when I am in the pantry eying the tortilla chips and the chocolate chips and the potato chips. By planning ahead and eating frequently you won't quite have the appetite for the tempting goodies at a family event, holiday or picnic than if you attend hungry and were saving up your calories for the event.

Also, when you eat out, enjoy your meal, the following day don't skip any meals, just get back to eating healthy and eating frequently.

When I fall of the wagon, and believe me I have, I lighten up the complex carbs for a few days. I still have them with each meal, but just a smaller portion.

Most of all - keep a positive attitude. I have learned the hard way that regret and guilt are useless emotions! Everyone pursuing physical fitness and weight loss goals is doing the two steps forward one step back dance. The trick is to keep taking the next step forward, even if it is a teeny-tiny baby step.

HTH

^ What Janis said. :)

More protein will keep you fuller longer, so when you're really hungry, look at your diet. If you notice that you've been eating a lot of carbs and not much in the way of protein and good fat, that might be the problem.

I also schedule one Cheat Day a week. This keeps me on track the other 6 days.

Janis and Lori,
Thanks for the ideas - I do some of these already - and it helps to know that it works for others - as well as giving me some extra motivation to keep going and that everyone struggles to stay on track. I just have to reign in my evening snack habits...Best wishes to you both to keep on trekking!
