What was your wedding song?

NY25, that WAS my wedding song! We both love Etta James and even if we hadn't been together, er, eleven years before marrying, we would have chosen "At Last".

OK, gotta go put some Etta in the CD player...

We didn't have dancing either but our fav songs were/are and I KNOW I will be telling my age:

Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers
First Time Ever I Saw Your Face by Roberta Flack
Power of Love (It was a female artist but it is not the one done by Celine although I love her song too.)

Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH (AKA "Den Mother Debbie")http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/wavey.gif[/img] If You Get The Choice To Sit It Out Or Dance...I Hope You DANCE!!!

I'm a little embarrassed because I don't rememberx( but we have been married for 23 years (come August). I know we had our dance because I have pictures...maybe I was so enamored with looking into his gorgeous face that I didn't hear it }(

I love it, too.
My husband actually picked it out. It was the first and only song song we considered. I cried when he mentioned it, and cry almost every time I hear it (happy tears, for the record). Its tempo is a bit weird for a "slow dance", but since there are no rules about that sort of thing, it worked out fine.
Hard to believe it's been over 14 years....

We just attended the wedding of our friend's son, and they danced to the same song. They had no idea it was "ours", but it was nice to see a "young couple" dancing to it!
I cried through the whole thing!

Have a great weekend,
Michele

Our wedding song was Keith Urban's "Your Everything".

The first time I looked in your eyes I knew
That I would do anything for you
The first time you touched my face I felt
Like I've never felt with anyone else
I wana give back what you've givin' to me
And I wanna witness all of your dreams
Now that you've shown me who I really am
I wanna be more then just a man

I wanna be the wind that fills your sails
And be the hand that lifts your veil
And be the moon that moves your tide
The sun coming up in your eyes
Be the wheel that never rusts
And be the spark that lights you up
All that you've been dreaming of and more
So much more, I wanna be your everything...

When you wake up, I'll be the first thing you see
And when it gets dark you can reach out to me
I'll cherish your words and I'll finish your thoughts
And I'll be your compass baby, when you get lost

I wanna be the wind that fills your sails
And be the hand that lifts your veil
And be the moon that moves your tide
The sun coming up in your eyes
Be the wheel that never rusts
And be the spark that lights you up
All that you've been dreaming of and more
So much more, I wanna be your everything...

I'll be the wheel that never rusts
And be the spark that lights you up
All that you've been dreaming of and more
So much more, I wanna be your everything...
I wanna be your everything

I wanna be your everything
I wanna be your everything

We had "I Cross My Heart" as our song to dance to and "Keeper of the Stars" as another song for the bridal party to dance to! That's uncanny that we picked two of the same songs!

Jane

Just wanted to jump in here because I adore this topic!

Our first dance was to Just One Look by Doris Tray (an oldie).
"Just one look, and I fell so ha -ha-hard, in love....with you".
Think Cindy Crawford in the '90's Pepsi commercial. It fit perfectly because from the moment we met and made eye contact, we've been together ever since. (15 years now!)

I also had to have Prince's Forever In My Life played at our reception. DH didn't want to dance to this one, since it's not a first love type song:"I never imagined, that love would rain on me, and make me wanna settle down / But Baby it's true, I think I do. I just wanna tell ya that I wanna with you, Oh Baby if you do, too.
Forever, forever, Baby I want you forever...

Man, I Love that song!!!

And finally, I sang this song at a good friend's wedding last summer.
It's by Steven Curtis Chapman titled I WILL BE HERE.

"Tomorrow morning if you wake up, and the sun does not appear
I, I Will Be Here

If in the dark we lose sight of love, hold my hand and have no fear
'cause I , I will be here

I will be here, when you feel like being quiet. When you need to speak your mind, I will listen
And I will be here, when the laughter turns to cryin', throught the winning, losing, and trying, I will hold you
And I will be here

OK, I'm done reminiscing and quoting lyrics - but thanks for this post! It brought up nice memories,

Tricia

Jes, I was the same way when I threw one of my parties. I made a list for the DJ of songs to play. He never said or acted like anything was wrong, but looking back, surely he must have been offended.

Marla:eek:
