What was your first car?

1980 Toyota Celica. It had a crank-open sunroof that I thought was the coolest thing ever. I loved it!

A camaro is not a ford, it is a chevrolet. I know, because I had a 1984 charcoal metallic grey camaro that I bought new with my first job out of college. I did not have a car before that, used my bike and the bus.

Mine was a white ford Festiva I got when I was in college....it looked kind of like a rollerskate, but I loved it!

OK then: sadly, like most Chevy cars made in the 70s, it was constantly leaking oil & the engine seized.

Some of you had some really cool cars! LOVE the Fairlane!

Some of you had some not so cool cars. :p

Mine was a 1984 Ford Escort. It looked like the primer color and it had a big crack that ran the length of the windshield. It lasted for 4 years until it completely died and it was a slow, painful, and expensive death.

Fun Thread!

Mine was a 1975 Buick Skyhawk. It was maroon, although I liked to call it "purple" at the time. It was a sporty two door hatchback. I loved that car. My car payments were $50 a month!

In 1968...

I was reminiscing last night over my first vehicle. It was a white 79 camaro w/a blue vinyl top. It was the coolest car ever! And it cost $250! Where can you buy a car that runs today for $250? :D

Sadly, like most Ford cars made in the 70s, it was constantly leaking oil & the engine seized. I still remember it like it was last week--I even remember the exact road & exact spot where it happened.

RIP good old camaro! ;)

I paid $800.00 cash for a '64 VW bug.

My first car was a 1978 or 79 oldsmobile cutlass supreme (green) that my grandparents purchased new and handed down to my older sister. Shortly after I got my license my sister bought herself a brand new car so I got the olds. My friends and I used to call it the "green bomber". LOL I drove that thing around for several years until I bought for myself a used black mustang-don't remember what year it was. It wasn't anything fancy though so don't get too excited! LOL It was cute though. I liked it. :)

Mine was a 1974 Mercury Capri. A blue, 4-speed with a sun roof and I thought I was too cool. I took over payments for my older brother who had just graduated and was moving to bigger and better things. ;) I loved that car.:D

A 1995 Honda Accord...my dad still drives it. It has never had any mechanical problem and gets great gas mileage! Maybe I should have kept it...the Yukon isn't so gas friendly!!!!

Great thread.

1985 Ford Escort. It died an early death at about 40,000 miles. Coincidentally, my DH first car was a Ford Escort, too.

A VW Dasher!

Bought it used in the early 80s. It had over 103,000 miles on it and I drove it for years before selling it! Yes, somebody bought it from me with around 155,000 miles on it!

It was a light metallic green ... I loved that car, even without A/C and with the quirky electrical system that VWs are (or were) known for.

Now a drive a mommy van. Whoopee.

A 1980 white and black VW Golf which I Snoopy. It was fairly new and cost me a small fortune but my Grandma helped with the payment.

TeTe, I always wanted to have a Triumph Spitfire! How cool! My friend had one and she would let me drive it every once in a while. I almost bought a Alpha Romeo Spider (two-seater convertible - looks almost like the Spitfire) as my first car but in a rare moment of being reasonable I decided to get the VW Golf instead. Oh the memories :D

I had a black Ford Falcon! I can't believe that somebody else had one, too! I didn't like the car and once I graduated from college I bought a Camaro!

I had a red VW '69 bug as a sophomore in college. It didn't have a/c and being in Texas, I can remember driving in the summer the black steering wheel would nearly burn me!
