What was your first car?

I was reminiscing last night over my first vehicle. It was a white 79 camaro w/a blue vinyl top. It was the coolest car ever! And it cost $250! Where can you buy a car that runs today for $250? :D

Sadly, like most Ford cars made in the 70s, it was constantly leaking oil & the engine seized. I still remember it like it was last week--I even remember the exact road & exact spot where it happened.

RIP good old camaro! ;)

A Honda Accord Hatchback. Biggest POS ever. It actually turned me off of Honda's forever. LOL. My car after that was a Fiero. And I loved it. But someone hit me and totalled it. Not a very safe car but I loved it.

My 1st car was a 1970 Ford Pinto (death trap). The driver's door didn't open so you had to either climb in the window or climb across the gear shift!!!!
The clutch screeched everytime you pressed it. By the way her name was SHASTA- She has to have gas, she has to have water, etc etc. May she RUST in Peace!!!!!
ellie :D:D

A white Plymouth Sundance that my brother promptly totaled when I had to leave it at home when I went away to college:( I loved that little car.

A 1976 Dodge Dart, slant six (zero to 60 in a mile--I'm not kidding). My two older siblings had it. The frame broke while I was driving it.

Mine was a 1973 Triumph Spitfire! I never drove it; I had more sense than my dad! I was 17, had very little experience driving, and to get anywhere I would have to maneuver tiny, curvy country roads that had no lines! I told him thanks, but there was no way I was ready for it! I later got an Opal Cadet station wagon…best clutch in the world for learning how to drive a manual! I LOVED that car! I drove it in college, which was in a mountain town; it was a great way to learn very quickly how to keep a manual-shift car from rolling backwards on steep hills at stop lights!

Oh, Laura, I, too had a version of the Dodge Dart (didn't all of us of a certain age???). Mine was a Swinger, and it had a daisy over the "i" in its name!!! Groovey, huh?

A Volkswagen Rabbit. I loved that little car. I bought it when I got my permit and totaled it on the very day I got my license.

I'm not sure which one to count: the in 63 Chevrolet Belair ("Belch") that my parents handed down to me when I went to Vo-Tech (that was still in their name), or the 1988 Dodge Shadow I bought when I was finishing grad school ("Thelma": not attractive, but practical and reliable).

I forgot to mention that mine was a Swinger as well! :D Brings back memories--not so good.

Mine was a 1972 Ford LTD, powder blue...I got it from my parents. Safest car I ever had, it drove like a tank!

Mine was a 1965 Corvair. I loved that car but could not get parts for it and it was highly unreliable and dangerous. Gave it back to my dad a few weeks after he gave it to me after it was smoking inside the car.

Mine was a light blue Ford Tempo, which I got as a "hand me down" from my older sister. But hey, I was just happy to have my own car! Not sure what year...

A 1980 orange chevy chevette. We towed it to Calif from Oh when I went out there to law school. Black vinyl interior and no AC, the driver's side window didn't go down, but there was a hole in the floorboard to allow the hot Calif air to circulate. And when there were mud slides in the Malibu canyon, the mud actually came in through that hole one time. Oh my - what memories. I sold it for $50.

My first car was a 1978 Honda Civic that I bought brand new with my own hard earned money. I bought a used car last year (30 years later), a Honda Civic. Haven't come a long way, have I?

Mercury Tracer. I can't remember the year, but I got it for a college graduation gift (the downpayment for it anyway). It died on me while I was driving it home from the showroom and had to have a whole new engine (love that Lemon Law!). I had it for 5 years and got into 2 accidents with it. It had a smashed front end and a bent frame, but it ran great (after the original incident).

My favorite car was my Subaru Forester. I cried when I traded it in last summer for my Subaru Impreza. I needed a lower monthly payment. :-(

A 1970 Chevy Nova. I had to get in the passenger side because the drivers door wouldn't open and use a clothes pin to hold open the carburetor or it would stall when I stopped:confused:
