What type of dumbbells does Cathe use?

I'm in the market - finally! - for a pair of 15 lb. dumbbells and went looking on the Cathe site for the exact same ones she uses (metal with a padding on the handhold area, for lack of a better description). I don't see them there. Anyone know which brand they are and where to get them? A search on google and my favorite sporting goods stores turned up nothing.

Thank you!

XTrain Dumbbells

The dumbbells we use in XTrain were purchased from Sports Authority and Dicks Sporting Goods. We used hex cast iron rubber coated dumbbells. Several manufacturers sell these and we purchased several different brands from different stores as we needed more than they stocked.

Thanks so much for your reply. I went to Sports Authority online and the only dumbbells I saw that were hex with rubber had the rubber on the "hex" portion, not on the handle. I totally remember there being rubber or some other padding on the part of the weight you actually hold. Am I hallucinating? ;-)

Those are the ones I saw, but not the ones I'm thinking of. I really do remember there being some sort of padding, maybe rubber, right where you hold the dumbbell, NOT on the ends.

I can see a little bit of gray rubber on the handle. it's stripes not very visible. You're right, in the video there is a more visible coating on the handle. Perhaps it is only available in stores, or they have changed the design since the w/o was filmed.

Hex Dumbbells

All of the dumbbells we use are rubber coated on each end to protect the floors and dumbbells from getting nicked up. WE do have some dumbbells that have a rubber grip overlaying the metal handles. This does help to grip the dumbbell, but not really all that much. Gloves are a much better solution.

If you buy rubber coated weights you won't be able to add pace weights. Just FYI , in case you may want to do that in the future.

I have plate mates and pace weights and give 2 thumbs up to both. They're wonderful for bridging, for example, from a 15 LB to a 20 LB dumbell....it's such a huge weight gap that using these micro weights allows you to move up in much smaller increments, allowing you to achieve what seemed impossible!
