what to do

Okay Cathe-ites, this is not a fitness question but what would you do if you lost your cell phone, you call your number, a person answers, they make sure you are the owner of the phone by asking for a description of the phone, they offer to meet you in a public place and give you their name, phone number and a description of what they will be wearing.

First, it's a public place so that's okay. Second, I put a hold on the phone so any calls made--I won't be charged. I guess I am wondering--do I have to tip the guy for keeping my phone and not turning it into the lost and found should he be legit and actually show.

Gotta love technology!

I don't think you HAVE to tip him but it's a nice gesture. Still, giving cash to a stranger is a little awkward. What about a small gift certificate to a local restaurant or a reliable chain like Brinker (Chilis, On The Border etc). Those gift cards are good at all their restaurants. That way it's a little token thank you without the awkward exchange of money.

It sounds legit since he had the good sense to agree to a public place. I'd still bring someone with me though!

It's so nice to hear stories of the kindness of strangers!

That happened to my DH. When he picked up the phone he offered him some cash, but the man refused to take it. I guess there are some good Samaritans out there after all.

Wow! My cell phone was returned and the person who found it could not have been nicer. I offered him a reward and he wouldn't take it.

Thanks to all of you who responded!
