What is your recent most favorite Kickboxing Workout?

Boingo1

Cathlete
I have a $25 Amazon GC burning a hole in my pocket, and was thinking kickboxing.

Good music is a plus!

(I do have all the Turbo Jams, and all of Cathe's.)

Amy Bento...

I've grown to love Amy Bento's Kickbox Surge (CIA video), and Kickbox Xtreme. I say "grown" because there is a bit of a learning curve to her choreography.

I also enjoy Powerstrike 5 (Ilaria Montangani).

I'd say those are my favorite non-Cathe KB videos... although I just got Tracey Staehle's Cardio Kickbox Challenge, and it is very good, too.

All can be previewed on Collage Video.

Good luck with your choice!

I second Kickbox Surge. The music is awesome and the routines are fun. Kickbox Xtreme is good too but has more of learning curve I think.

Hi, Do you happen to have powerstrike 1 or 2? I am wondering what the difference is in 5. I like the first two somewhat, but don't do them. The thing I don't like is how all one side is done than the other rather than alternatiting with the different moves. Thanks, Melissa

Powerstrike

I have two Powerstrike workouts... One of them is Powerstrike 5; the other is just called Powerstrike. I don't know if there are Powerstrikes... but you can see these two on Collage Video.com

I know what you mean about doing all on one side, then a different routine on the other side (though she says you're doing the same number of kicks and punches), then the third routine switches back and forth. But I do like the workouts and I also like the fact that there is no jumping. Sometimes my legs just need a break, but I still get my heart rate up.

She has a couple of other videos -- a push-up/ab video that I find very challenging, and another one that focuses on legs -- also challenging.

I like Ilaria's style, though it took a bit to get used to her accent. She's very precise about form.

Hope this helps.

For Kickboxing- I like Tracey Staehle's Cardio Kickbox Challenge
For Boxing- I like Michael Olajide's - Aerobox workouts

Amy Bento's Kickbox Surge still tops my list.

I soooooo agree :) I look forward to this workout everytime :) I also like Amy's in the Ring, I think that's a good workout, it definitely burns lots of calories.. but this one has med ball intervals.

Amy is really good at creating fun choreography... but if you want 'true' kickboxing, she isn't as strict on her form as Cathe, for example. But I stilll love her :)

i have powerstrike 1,2,and five. 1 and 2 are my favorite kb workouts.1&2 are tougher than 5 and include another instructor. they get my heart rate up more. ps 5 has new moves. you work your right stance then the left.good luck finding 1&2 because they are not on sale anymore except ebay.

My current top 2:
Tracey's "Cardio Kickbox Challenge".
Kelly Coffey Meyer's "30 Minutes to Fitness - Kickboxing".

Both have music that I find superb.

Tracey's is more drill-like - there are fighting moves + plyo and no hi/lo fillers. There is also a brief ginga section. I like that it is taught by 3 instructors in turn. Josef and Jericho are amazing at this format.

Kelly's is a bit more choreographed, but still feels like kick-box rather than hi/lo and is not complex to learn. The kick-box themed abs bonus is a lot of fun.

Though they are both intense, they have no dread because the routine is quick changing with no repitiveness and high on fun factor.

Thanks!!! I appreciate all the feedback!!

I was deciding between Tracey Staehle's and Amy Bento KB Surge. The decision was made for me , though, since Amazon doesn't have Tracey's (not for free shipping, anyways). So I guess it's Amy'!! The music does sound better in this one.
