what is your favorite time to workout? either weights or cardio or both. i seem to be torn right now. i love mornings b/c it gets the workout done with and it wakes me up and gets me moving. however, lately i have been trying afternoons and i've noticed i can push more with weights and run harder with cardio. plush i like the extra 2 hrs of sleep;-) so i was just wondering what everyones prefered times are and why.

I prefer to workout in the afternoon mainly because that is usually the only time I have. On weekend mornings I usually do some kind of weight workout. It's hard for me to do cardio in the morning.

I wish I could get up in the mornings to workout!! I'm wayyyyyy to sleepy though and I've tried it before and my workouts have been crappy. I have NO energy to do cardio in the mornings. Afternoons are my time, for sure. I have tons of energy. I've been working out in the afternoons for 8 years now and it's just a habit. I love it. It's such a matter of personal preference, though.

I struggle on the weekends because if I don't workout in the morning I usually don't get a workout in at all. I end up missing a lot of weekend workouts because I'm just NOT a morning exerciser.

My favorite time is when the workout is all done! My DH always says the best thing about running is when you stop.

I tried morning workouts and still do them when necessary but generally speaking, later afternoon evening is best for me. I find it nice to burn off the stress of the day. I worked out last night until 9:30, took a shower, and went to bed. I have no problem crashing after a nice hard workout.

You know, I used to say in the a.m. after a few cups of coffee and a boal of hot oatmeal. But lately I have been getting up really early (due to my workout space being taken over by contractors who are finishing our basement), not eating anything and able to push a bit harder during my cardio. I thought the opposite would be true! Who knew?!

I usually exercise very early in the morning - 4am...this is purely out of necessity. x(

However, I do notice the same thing that you said...when I CAN workout in the late morning or early afternoon, I can really push myself soooo much harder and burn many many more calories!!! :D :D

I workout in the morning. That way, I can shower afterwards, and get ready for my day ahead.

For those of you who workout in the afternoon, I presume you shower after your workout. Does that mean you shower twice a day? Or are you one of the lucky ones who can get up in the morning and get your hair in place without getting it wet?

Diane

I shower twice a day but only wash my hair after I work out. Luckily for me, I have really dry hair so it actually looks ok during the day not having been washed that morning...

I actually would prefer to workout mid-morning. Doesn't happen, though, since I work in an office. I mostly workout in the evening after I get home from work. I don't like working out just when I wake up. I'm uncoordinated and prone to injury if I work out too soon.

Last week before leaving on vacation, I did a morning workout because I knew I wouldn't be able to do a workout later that day. I gave myself 15 minutes to wake up and grab something light to eat and then did a 40 minute interval workout on the treadmill. I felt great, but by 4 PM, I was exhausted more than usual. My body's just not used to working out that time of day.

I can't really get up early and workout before work anyway as our house is very small and I would disturb my DH. I normally get home before he does, so can work out with the tv blaring and not bother anybody.

I shower twice a day. A shower in the morning before work and a quick shower after my workout. I don't worry much about my hair. It's long and thick and in a pony-tail mostly. Hard to go wrong there. I wash my hair only in the AM before work and pull it back after it dries.

I shower twice a day. In the mornings I wash my hair. I have to wash my hair every morning, it looks like crap when I sleep on it.

I work out at 7pm every day, weekday or weekend.

I've tried getting up in the morning and getting it done, but I just can't. And on the rare occasion that I have, I just can't give it 100%. My body just doesn't move well in the morning!;-)

I choose mornings even though I think I perform better later in day. I like the feeling of having my workout behind me, showered, and ready for whatever the day throws my way. Plus, when things get busy, I am so tempted to blow off my workout.

SAME FOR ME !! I can do better in the evenings, but like to get it over with first thing.

I generally work out in the early afternoon, if possible--has a lot to do with when my kids are in school or napping. The times I try in the morning I'm just too hungry before breakfast and in too much of a hurry after breakfast or something. I never can seem to work out how to do it in the morning (and I'm not a morning person).

I shower once a day--in the afternoons after working out. I only wash my hair every other day or sometimes skip two days, though, since it's colored and tends to be dry. As long as it was blow-dried last time it was washed, it's easy enough to style it (what little style it has). If I let it air dry, though, it's hopeless to tame it until washed again.

While getting it done in the morning is definately the more efficient way of doing it , I am not one to get up at 5am to work out so if I can't get my work out done at a *reasonable* hour of the morning (as in a start time of no earlier then 7am), then it waits until my son's nap time which is between 1pm and 4pm. I will work out in the evenings after dinner as a last resort.

ETA: I usually only shower once a day. If my hair doesn't want to cooperate in the mornings I just throw it up in a pony tail. I am a SAHM with a p/t job as a childcare attendant at my gym so it's not like my hair has to be "DONE" every morning. :p

I like working out in the afternoon. I get up at 4 a.m. for work. No way I'm getting up any earlier then that.

I like to workout around 4 p.m. Luckily I have a home office which gives me some flexibility. I'm usually at my desk by 7:30, so by 4 I'm ready to call it a day! Whenever I do half to workout in the morning, I usually feel I don't get quite as good of a workout because my muscles aren't warmed up. But then when I'm done I'm so happy to have it behind me for the rest of the day!

i'm a natural morning person. even though i have felt stronger in my workouts in the afternoon, i have hated having to do it and stop my day to go workout. i'm going to go back to mornings starting tomorrow. even though sometimes i have though mornings where i don't want to get up, i have more days where i love to get going and get it done. i feel positive, energized, and motivated for my upcoming day
