What is your favorite protein shake?

Happy Saturday you Guys!!!! (well, if that isn't the Joisey coming out in me :)

I am sitting here on my patio, drinking my protein shake after a Cathe workout - I did CTX Step and Intervals, Leaner Legs, and the ab workout after Leaner Legs, and I feel amazing.....

and, here I sit, thinking, "I wonder what kind of protein shakes the other gals drink".

The kind I am drinking is MetRx Protein Plus in Chocolate flavor, and it is the first time I am having it. It was on sale at the grocery store (1/2 off, which made it 9.99) and it is AWESOME!!!! It has 21 grams of protein (whey), 4 grams of carbs, and 1 gram of fat. 110 calories, but I drink it with nonfat milk, so it is 200 calories (not bad for an after workout "meal".

So, what kind do you like?

I make a morning protein/meal replacment smoothie with pomegranate juice, frozen berries (strawberries/blueberries/raspberries: one, two or all three types), a scoop of "Vegan Complete" pea/rice protein/meal-replacement (25 grams protein), a couple of vegan glucosamine capusules opened up into it. If I put more raspberries in, I also usually add a bit of stevia to make it a little sweeter.

For a quicker, post-exercise replenishment drink, I use Power Dream vanilla or chocolate soy meal replacement.

Kathryn, what is special about pomegranite juice? I see that "POW" stuff all over and it isn't cheap. I tried a small and it tasted good - just wonder what is all the hubbub. Marnie

I drink Myoplex Lite (many flavors) and a new one called Eating for Life Right for Women (chocolate). This morning I had a Myoplex vanilla with a banana, ice cubes and a dash of cinnamon. I also like a chocolate shake made with frozen cherries.

I like Myoplex lite too. I use mainly vanilla so I can mix with stuff. Choc is good too. The package usually comes with a little recipe book with some great combinations

I usually use Designer Whey in vanilla so I can mix with lots of stuff. I have tried the strawberry and really like it also.

Seabeewife, now I have to try the chocolate in my oatmeal as I normally just use the vanilla....that sounds YUMMY!!:9

Ok, I am so excited because I just found a protein powder that I am just absolutely loving..it's 100% Egg Protein from a company called Healthy n'Fit Nutritionals. 1 serving is 3/4 scoop and it has 106 calories, 24grams protein, no carbs, no sugar and no fat. The only flavor I've seen it in so far is vanilla ice cream, and OMG it tastes like heaven:9! It is also one of the ONLY protein powders that I've come across that is slightly sweetened with stevia, so that is a big plus in my book. If you're in the market for a new protein powder and are not allergic to eggs, I would definitely suggest trying it!!:9

It's very high in antioxidants, even higher than blueberries and green tea (which I use a lot of as well).

I like Prolab's Naturally Lean Maxtrix in Cinnamon Oatmeal...it's pretty tasty for a shake, 20gms protein, 195 calories and has CLA in it as well.

I do like the chocolate/PB/banana protein shake I make.

My favorite right now is a cantaloupe protein shake. Scoop of vanilla protein powder, 1 cup frozen cantaloupe, 1 cup skim milk.

I am also using frozen peaches and frozen blueberries since they are in season. I use the vanilla with these.

Chocolate peanut butter banana

1 cup skim milk + 1 TB cocoa, or 1 cup chocolate 1% milk
1 banana
1TB natural peanut butter
1 TB Designer whey protein
2TB plain lowfat yogurt
6 icecubes

Makes 2 servings....delicious!!
