What is your body confidence?

How confident are you with your body? My huby was so nice to set me up with a spa day (deep tissue/pedi), . .I've been having a bad month. :( Some women were full on comando, . . in the buck naked around the locker room. I know we are all women and stuff BUT I feel strange having a conversation with some stranger in the locker room naked. Am I weird? I have a hard time working out in a sports bra because I'm worried I'd offend someone with my not so ripped abs. Because come on let us be real we check each other out. Right?

It's funny, Janie, back when I was in high school, I had the best body of my life. I actually looked really good, but never knew it. I had absolutely no confidence in myself. I wouldn't change or take a shower in the locker room at school. Now, it's not as great as it was, but I'm more confident than ever! I would work out in a sports bra and shorts without hesitation.

I was that way back in my 30s when I was also in great shape!

I'm a full coverage kind of person, I won't even wear sleeveless shirts in public. I don't care how great someone looks, I can't get used to people walking around the locker room naked. I'm just not comfortable with it.

I am with morningstar. I refuse to wear sleeveless shirts. In fact, if I had my way, I would wear 3/4 sleeves year-round! I also will not wear shorts in public. I will wear capris but not shorts. However, I am VERY overweight, which is why I am not comfortable in my own skin. Unfortunately, due to my belly being stretched after two children/two c-sections, even if I lose weight, my days of wearing bikinis or working out in just a sports bra and shorts are over!

As for nudity in locker rooms, I personally don't feel comfortable with my own nudity in locker rooms. I don't care if others are but don't really want to carry on a conversation. I actually go into a changing stall if I have to change at the gym. I did get REAL used to other people's nudity while in basic training. The showers were community showers. 8-10 girls showered at the same time. You just learned to always avert your eyes!

I feel that I look pretty darned good. I have no issues wearing shorts, sleeveless tops, bikinis, etc BUT I am not comfortable naked. Period. I'm just not. Not even in my own house around my DH let alone in a public locker room. When I was a gym member and would shower there after my work outs, I would always get undressed/dressed in the stalls that enclosed the showers. If I needed to change into my work out clothes to exercise after a work shift (used to work the day care room there) then I would use the one private changing room they provided to do so. Even though the latter did not require me to get naked per say, still, in front of strangers, no thanks.

ETA: And FWIW I will not wear sports bras w/o something over them to work out in public. I always wear a top that covers my belly. I don't know why since I wear a bikini over the summer. Wierd? Probably! LOL

Oddly, my abs are my trouble spot! It's the only area that ISN'T showing definition yet!

Girl! What are you talking about you look pretty fabulous to me. Strut those abs with confidence!

Wendy: This isn't weird. We are all comfortable in different situations and uncomfortable in others. I'm perfectly comfortable nude in my own home around my DH, but I guess I'm with everyone else about locker rooms. I don't mind changing in front of other people, but, although I've never been in the situation, I would think carrying on a normal conversation would be a bit awkward.

Can I say it depends on the day/hour/minute?

I wouldn't wander around nekkid in the locker room, nor would I workout in public with nothing on over a sports bra. Nobody wants to see my middle. However, I do workout at home w/ just a sports bra and no shirt. When I go out running I put on a T shirt.

Sleeveless shirts -love 'em! I still have some pudge on my arms, and extra skim that I don't think will ever go away, but I have that nice V shape in my shoulders and you can see my biceps.

Shorts - meh. I prefer capri pants, only because my legs are so white I'm apt to blind someone in the sunshine :p

But skirts I will do, pasty white legs be damned!! They're comfy and not as hot as pants at work. I do have big calves, but you can see the muscle in them, especially if I have heels on, so I don't think too much about it.

Lower belly - well that's a whole 'nother can of worms! Baby pooch, stretch marks, extra skin from being extra fluffy. That bothers me, and that's where my confidence takes a nose dive. Depends on the day, though.

Nan

ETA: If I have a cute dress on that shows my curves and smokin' heels, I could conquer the world. Or a good pair of booty jeans, RAWR!!!!!!

I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I will. Mine depends on the company I'm keeping at any given time.

My SIL, for example, is tall, naturally thin and fit, so she has a beautiful body. I feel like a lard around her no matter what I'm wearing.

Other friends that may be pudgier or heavy, I feel great.

Overall, I'm pretty comfortable with my body. I work hard for it. My arms are something I tend to hide. I'm genetically cursed here, so no amount of lifting in any variation produces definition. Everything else, I'm pretty good with. I like the results that I get.

But no matter, if I'm around people that are naturally thin and look great in clothes, I tend to "hide" in mine.
