What is freestyle training?

I've seen a lot of recent posts talking about free style training so I've got an overall idea of what it is, but could someone please tell me exactly what it is?

And, while you are at it....I have an injurred wrist and cannot, by doctor's orders, perform any weight-bearing activity on that hand. Would free style training be a way to go for the time, while I recover? I don't want to bulk my legs, but would like a lot more definition. (oh, and I have a weight bench for quad extensions and hamstring curls, so I can always substitute my barbell leg exercises with the bench if needed).

Thanks...I kind of combined a bunch of questions together.

Hi Gayle...

Freestyle Training for Women is what some of us are doing for slimming the legs and hips, it seems to work better for us than the other way.....

Here is a web site that has some info, the ladies name is Sherry Gideons... www.bodybuilding.com/fun/gideons11.htm .... you can read the main article on Freestyle about Sherry and Geri from this link, and find out about the exercises and so on... hope this helps

Oh and freestyle training is working the lower body at least 4 daus a week and for best results 5-6 days a week....

feel free to ask any questions you want and we will try our best to answer.... Rhonda:7

Hmm, to the ladies who are doing this type of rotation, are you doing Cathe lower body workouts 5x a week, or are you doing the freestyle exercises as they are outlined in the article? (Hard to tell what she is talking about without seeing it...)

Thanks,
Marie

Do any of you use the lunge poles or the bands? If so, do you find them to be effective?

I haven't had a chance to check out the article yet...tonight I'll do that. But what ever happened to the worry about over-training. Or about the theory of giving your muscles 48 hours' rest between weight workouts? Or do you switch up the intensity of the weight workouts?

I guess many of my questions will be answered after I read it, but thought I'd ask anyway.

Thanks for the replies.

Gayle,

Yes, the article should help expain this. I do believe it could cause over training in some people. I have found my legs to be stronger and improved endurance after freestyle training. I tend to hold my weight in my legs and butt though. It helps even out my top and bottom half. I can work upper body 1-2 times a week heavy and be happy.

If you are really interested in this, you should buy the book.

Gayle,

It is suggested that for Freestyle training you use only 70% of your heaviest weight therefore helping to protect from overtraining and injury.
