What is DDR?

I am on Weight Watchers and I post in the fitness boards sometimes. I notice there are a lot of DDR fanatics over there. From what I gather it sounds like some kind of video game, maybe I am wrong. I don't want to ask them what it is, I thought somebody might know over here. I am just curious.

Thanks,
Lori

Dance Dance Revolution - uses a video game and floor pads. Available on PS2, XBox and PC versions. Not in Game Cube (darn it!). Lots of discussion on videofitness.com Teens love it and lose weight with it. Very active dancing. Have never done it myself but am hoping they come out with it for Game Cube for Santa's sake.

I bought this for DD for her birthday. We have PS2 and had to buy the game plus a wireless mat. The game has tons of songs that have preprogrammed dance moves. The moves appear on the tv as directional arrows that coinside with the arrows on the mat. You just follow along but it is not as easy as you might think. I never got past the beginner mode but my DD has and she works up a good sweat. It really is a lot of fun for kids and adults ;-)

I have the DDRMax2 (Dance Dance Revolution) Game/Mat for Playstation 2. With the "Workout" mode, I dance for 20 songs straight which takes approx. 1 hour. It is so much fun! I can do the "Light" (Interm.) level; although some are still challenging. I have yet to try the "Heavy" level!

How expensive is this? Sounds like something my cousin's daughter might like. Don't know if she has playstation though.

We bought Dance Revolution Vol. 2 and a MadKatz dance pad for about $65 at Best Buy. They already have a newer version out. My daughter loves it and it was a lifesaver during Fall Break.
