What is bootcamp?

I"m new at working out. I saw Cathy on tv and decided to try her. What is a bootcamp workout. That was the first one I saw on tv. I didn't work out to it but was wondering if it would be a good place to start.
 
Hi there- Boot camp is pretty intense. It is a circuit workout- one minute of cardio, one minute of strength training, one minute of core work. I think there are 8 circuits. It is a great workout but if you're new to working out, I would pick a different DVD of Cathe's. Do you use a step? If so she has some great step workouts. If you need more info on her videos, just click on Shop Cathe at the top of the page and you can see all of her DVDs with detailed explanations on each workout. HTH.
 
Bootcamp is crazy intense. It does come with Muscle Endurance which is nice. Bootcamp is not enough lifting for me and the cardio is nuts. The ab work is good. It is fun for every once in a while and always nice to do and see that I've improved but not something I do often and unless you have been seriously working out for a while, as orphylea said, it is not one to start with. You can also watch clips of her DVDs - she has long clips to watch.

If you are interested in purchasing one of Cathe's dvd's try 4DaySplit. It has an awesome bootcamp on there that IMO is easier than the Bootcamp you saw on Fittv. It is alot of fun.

If you are new to working out, I would recommend Cathe's Basic Step/Body Fusion DVD. The Body Fusion part is step with weights, done circuit style. I still do this one, actually, and it would help you get familiar with her stepping/weight training style. Like others have said, check out the clips--this is a GREAT one to start with if you are new to working out. :)

Then, once you have progressed, you could do the 4DS Series (which, like Maynard's Mom said, has an easier Boot Camp on it) and workout your way up to Boot Camp. (I just rediscovered this one but it's a tough one...and a good goal to have!!)
