What equipment do you have and use?

amyg

Cathlete
I've got a stability ball, 2 lb medicine ball, 12 lb body bar, 8 lb Firm stick, and sets of 3, 5, 8, 10, and 12 lb weights.

Do you guys use an adjustable barbell? If not, what do you use instead?

I guess I should get a heavier medicine ball and a barbell set next. I think a barbell would be a better addition than a 15 lb weight set?

Suggestions? Thanks!

Hi Amy G,

I have an entire gym:

Weights, dbells & plated weights from 3-100#'s
Gravitron machine (upper body only)
Bicep curl machine - preacher bench
Smith machine
Lower back machine
StairMasters
Treadmills
Bikes (not spin)
Lat pulldown
Seated row
T-bar
Pec dec - chest press machine
Shoulder machine
Cable crossover
Hamstring curl machine
Leg extension
Leg press
Sissy squat
Incline machine for abs
Crunch machine
Body bars-stability balls-all sorts of straight & curl bars
Hip Abductor machine
Donkey calf & calf raise machine
Forearm machine
Even a machine to strengthen the neck
An original step, and high steps
Last but not least, straps hooked to a beam to do hanging raises.

And yes a barbell would be good to have.
I think that's it.

Haydee, I'm jealous!! Good for you guys.

Forgot to mention I live in a 2 bedroom duplex and work from home in one of the bedrooms, so that's set up as an office.

I also have the Firm FL, incline box, and a full step.

Sounds like a barbell is the next thing to get. Any recommendations as to which kind?

Dude! Workout session w/ Haydee! That's awesome girl...

I don't have too much -

step bench
rubberized square step stool (doubles as high step for now)
dumbells in 10, 12

one of these days I'll get a stability ball, too.

Debbie

Haydee's is the place to be!!

I thought I had it going on, but Haydee's got me by a long shot!!

I have

Dumbbells (from 5 to 50 lbs)
Olympic Barbell w/weights
Troy Light Barbell System**
Bench
Hip Sled
Universal Machine w/various attachments
Vertical Bench
Stability Ball
BOSU
High Step
Step Bench

For doing Cathe workouts I have the Troy-Lite Barbell system. It's very similar if not the same as what Cathe uses in her videos (newer series).

I have 2 barbells, one an E-Z curl barbell, the other straight. I have plates for up to 50 pounds. I highly recommend 2 barbells if you have the room because it beats having to change plates midstream.

I also have:

dumbbells 1-20 pounds
Stability Ball
Medicine balls, 3,5 and 8 pounders
Various sizes of resistance tubing and resistance bands
treadmill
stairclimber
club step
high step
various size ankle weights, 2-5 pounds

The only thing I want is a leg press machine. I'd really like to work my legs like I used to at the gym. Maybe for my birthday....!

Ooh thanks for the tip on the Lite system- I could only find really heavy sets or body bars which aren't enough.

I'd definitely recommend a barbell, Amy. Even when you use the same weight as dumbells, it just feels different, probably because there is some balancing going on. So it's good to mix it up. I would recommend a barbell that has "clips" to keep the weights in place (like Cathe uses in her workouts) instead of the screw on type, which unfortunately seems to be the most common! That's what I have and it's a pain in the neck to switch weights mid-workout (takes too long!)

I'd LOVE to have a gym like Haydee's but I can only dream.:( However, I have everything I need:

db's from 3 to 30 lbs. (if I need more weight, I use a bb)
bb and plates totalling about 80 lbs.
high step
club step
puzzle mats for cardio
stability ball
a couple of pairs of weight lifting gloves
different colored bands and tubing
yoga mat
rebounder

I'd love to one day have a workout room with a punching bag, a weight bench and a pull-up bar. Hubby and I are searching for a house either with a workout room or a small bedroom that we can convert into one. It's gonna take some time.

Amy, a barbell set would do great things for you.:)

Pinky

I have the following:

3-25 pounds dumbbells
110 pound barbell set, comes with 2 dumbbells also
a stability ball
full size step that doubles as my weight bench
a mountain bike that is on a trainer for inside use
weighted kickboxing gloves
weight lifting gloves
I use a wooden dowel as a body bar if I use one at all
a block of wood for calf work in PSSL&A

and I think that is it.

A barbell is definetely the thing to get.:7

Definitely get a barbell w/wieghts. Sometimes you can even find these used at a garage sale or stores that sell used equipment.

I'm coming over to Haydee's too!!!!!!http://bestsmileys.com/exercising/1.gif[/img]

I have:
3 adjustable barbells
assorted wieght plates from 1.25lbs to 25 lbs
3 sets of adjustable dumbbells
Select tech dumbbells, 5 to 52.5 lbs each (new and I LOVE them!)
3,5,8,15lb dumbbells
adjustable ankle weights from 1-5 lbs
2.5lb and 5lb ankle weights
6lb and 10lb med ball
2 stability balls
1.5lb and 3lb pair kickboxing gloves
4 resistances of Dynabands
Universal Gym attached to the wall w/bench. ( The pullup bar attachment was great for P90X!)
One more weight bench with a high bar for squats and leg extension/curl attachment.
Reebok step
High step
Nordic track
Cardio glide
would hate to list all the videos and DVD's...http://bestsmileys.com/fainting/1.gif[/img]....Carole

After reading all these posts I need to get more weights! I agree about looking for the easy release collars when you purchase a barbell. I have the screw on collars and they are a royal pain! I was thinking of buying a Troy Lite barbell, just so I could get the easy release collars, but DH would freak! Spend the extra bucks and get the better barbell!

Ha ha I love this thread! I'm going to show it to my husband. He got me the full size step for my birthday on the condition I had to figure out where to put it! All my stuff is in our living room.
This way, I can get the barbell set and show him this thread and he'll feel like he's lucky with how LITTLE I have! We have Ikea furniture and all the weights and my videos fit in the ottoman.

Thanks for your help, everyone!

I have, and use:
2 adjustable barbells (Troy lite) with plates ranging from 1.25# to 10# (I love the possibility of microloading: going up just a little bit in weight).
dumbbells ranging from 2# (rehab weight) to 35# (just one of those so far)
Platemates in 1.25# pairs (whatever 1/2 of that is each!) and 2.5# pairs, to add to my dumbbells.
regular club step
high step topper
stability balls
Ooof balls/medicine balls ranging from 2# to 20#
weighted gloves (1# for kickboxing, 2# and 3# for four limbed aerobics)
bodywedge (for steeper inclines)
pull-up tower (acquired when I was doing a P90X rotation)
Soloflex Rockit (allow me to do heavy squat/leg press moves
Water-filled punching bag
Weight training gloves
Spin bike (not used for a while: I'm just not a cardio machine buff)
Balance discs (air-filled: good for doing push-ups with one knee on a disc, or other balance moves)
Pilates ring
rebounder
yoga mat
Puzzle mats

I think that's all, LOL! At least the major things. There may be some more hanging around that I've forgotten.

If you click on my Phototrail, you can see my workout area. Tell me what ya'll think? I still think I need one of those sissy squat machines & maybe a pull up bar.

You need a much bigger TV. Hi-Def or Plasma. Maybe 52" screen. ;)

Hey, you've got to do the room justice!!

Speaking of OCD, it would drive me NUTS that the risers are 2 different colors.

Then again, all my stuff is in my living room!! :7

Wow, I like your workout room pictures. My DH would be very happy if I kkep mine like yours. Actually I don't have workout room yet. I workout in our unfinished basement. You gave me some ideas how to finish my workout room when we are doing basement this August.

Thanks for sharing your pictures.;-)
