I don't have any of cathe's strenght training workouts and am wondering if you could recommend something to me. I tend to get bored with them so are there any that you think are kind of fun????

Thanks,
Tracy

Hi Tracy,

I have and really like the pyramid workouts, Gym Style workouts,
Power Hour and Body Blast Supersets and Push and Pull, Legs and
Glutes. For me they are all fun and keep my interest and time
goes by quickly.

Depending on your level (what strengTH training have you done already?) you might enjoy Supersets and Push-Pull. They get away from the straight-set set-up of most of Cathe's strength workouts into a circuit or push-pull type set up that can be less boring. And the premixes are very good as well, and offer more variety, so the workouts don't get stale as fast.

Another idea would be to get some of the cardio/weight circuit workouts that also go by more quickly. When I have 'exercise ADD,' these are the types of workouts that work best for me. Boot Camp is one example. Circuit Max is also good.

I vote to start with a couple of the total-body workouts (as opposed to 3-part split-sets), like Maximum Intensity Strength (on same DVD as Power Hour, a good endurance workout), Muscle Max, Supersets / Push-Pull as recommended above; then move on the Pyramids; them add in a split-set like Pure Strength, Slow and Heavy, Gym Styles.

For muscle building, I suggest the Gym Style Series, Slow & Heavy Series, Muscle Max, and Pure Strength. For leaning out, I suggest Push/Pull, Supersets, Muscle Endurance, and Leaner Legs. Hope htis helps in what your lookin for.

Good Luck,

i also get bored when doing upper and lower body unless it has variety of unique moves.powerhour and mis i do not do because i find it boring. its basically lunges, squats, and upper body. i do like bodyblast series which uses a stability ball,me,and gymstyle which uses bands.

I did Amy Bento's A Team Boot Camp last night - 1 minute intervals of different exercises with some cardio blasts. It had a lot of variety -you only did each exercise for a minute - which made the time go by quickly.

Laura, have you tried it yet? sounds like something you might like.

This isn't to take anything away from Cathe - I have almost all her DVDs and I love them all. This was just a nice change.

it does sound interesting. i'm going to check it out on the internet right now. sounds sorta like cathe's bootcamp. is it as intense?

Laura,
I do not find Amy's BC to be as intense as Cathe's BC. The weight work left a lot to be desired in my opnion. The core get's a lot more work and the weight work is harder and easier to heavy up on in Cathe's BC. I did like the longer cardio interval's in Amy's but it was the same exact move for the whole two minutes.

Adri, this is very helpful. I was just about to post a question about this- muscle building vs leaning out/toning. So thanks very much! :)
