What do you like/dislike about LIS?

Please chime in on this one! I am sure Cathe would love to read your thoughts/suggestions :)

My likes:

1) of course, low impact, calorie burning workouts that don't put strain on my knee's and ankles.

2) variety. So many options to fit your mood/goals. Boredom factor virtually non-existent.

3) UB/LB strength training that requires little equipment and is extremely effective.

4) Slide & Glide discs. Love those suckers! Enough said.

5) Firewalkers. Very effective in toning the entire body (especially hard to tone areas like the outer thigh)

6) room for improvement. You can grow with these workouts, making them tougher as you get stronger.

7) the results are amazing!!! Happy factor 10/10!!

Dislikes: (ok, there has to be at least one thing you don't like)

1) SOOOO many plank exercises!!!! I understand completely why Cathe did this, don't get me wrong here. Sometimes I just don't want to do these in my cardio session. That's where my love for high impact comes in.

2) Holding weights while doing cardio. I also understand why Cathe did this. It gets the HR up, I know. Just sometimes when I have sore arms from an UB workout, I am not able to hold heavier weights, and then I don't burn as many calories. I feel like I am cheating myself.

3) I would have liked Yoga Max to be harder. I honestly thought Yoga Relax would be for an easier day, and Max to be, well MAX. Don't hate me for this people. Just giving my honest opinion.

Well that's it.......I think! :D

Have a wonderful day!

Great question!

Here's what I like:

1. Slide & Glide disks introduce innovative moves that work my legs in ways I didn't think possible!

2. Workouts go by quickly, but they are really effective.

3. CycleMax - I really hope Cathe makes more spinning workouts. I was never into spinning, always thought that it would be boring, but this workout proves that spinning is definitely not boring and I love the fact that I'm completely drenched by the end of the workout.

4. Workouts keep your heart-rate up throughout - even with the Total Body Tri-sets.

5. Use of resistance tubing in Athletic Training.

6. Really interesting moves in Total Body Tri-sets - both upper & lower (i.e. the tricep kickbacks while balancing one hand on the ground, the one arm rows while balancing one hand on a ball, and kicking one leg in the air) I'm glad Cathe introduces these new moves because it keeps me interested, and I'm glad its different from her other strength training workouts.

What I don't like:

1. I like the burpees and mountain climbers with the S&G disks, and I feel really powerful when I can do these well, but perhaps because I just did a month rotation of LIS, I feel that there were too many of these moves repeated in many of the workouts. It kind of got to the point where I was dreading doing them.

2. Music in Total Body Tri-sets upper body. I don't want to offend anyone with this comment, its just my personal preference. I do like the music in all the other workouts though.

3. In LISLIC, there is a mistake during the last step segment - you start on the right side doing side leg lifts, then once you do the left side, you don't do the leg lifts - I believe its more like tap ups. I personally stick with the leg lifts and repeat what I did on the right side. Its not a big deal, I'm just surprised the mistake wasn't caught in editing.

I must say though that I feel this series is one of the best that Cathe has made and I love it. I really appreciate the fact that Cathe is constantly trying to kickstart our fitness regimes and keep our bodies guessing. She makes working out fun, interesting, challenging and so enjoyable.

Likes:

Afterburn is a sweat factory!

Cyclemax is more difficult than a Chris Carmichael DVD.

Turbo Barre is a welcome change.

Yoga Max is a great alternative when it's too cold for our daily walk.

Love the music in Slide and Glide

Dislikes:

I'm not sure of how to coordinate the set together.

That they are mostly under 60 minutes. (pet peeve I need to get over)

Not sure if some of the workouts should be classified as weight work or cardio.

I love it that Cathe listened to us when we asked for a low impact series. I know I'll use this set for years to come. I agree with so many of the others, so I'll try to add some different ones too.

The fun factor is so high.

There is no learning curve (except for LIC) so you can jump right in and get a lot of bang for your buck right from the start.

The workouts actually get MORE difficult as you get better at the moves (esp. with the discs). Usually WOs get easier as you get used to them.

Love the calorie burns on AT, AB, SG, and CSS. I still haven't done CM, but I'm sure it's up there too.

The premixes are fantastic. They multiply the possibilities, and I like having the choices.

I do like the packaging on the preorder. The discs are very handy and well protected.

Dislikes

There are times when they change the camera angle at the start of a new move. That really throws me off and I'll miss the first rep. I wouldn't care if they kept the same camera angle throughout the whole workout!

I wish there had been a heavy weight total body WO. I don't really care for Trisets (sorry). I especially dislike the music in UB, as someone else mentioned.

I had to really think to find some negatives. I truly love this series. I feel I got my money's worth and so much more. Thanks Cathe!

I haven't worked out extensively to this series yet. Now that life is slowing down a bit, baby is sleeping through the night (at last!), and the holidays are over, I am ramping the workout life up again - so happy! So far, I am really enjoying the series, so I'll just say OVERALL a thumbs up.

Not much to point out for dislike, except the warmup music in Trisets. I did lower body yesterday and upper body today and that darn music is stuck in my head. All day long, can't get it out. The rest of the music in the workout is fine, or maybe I'm working so hard I don't actually HEAR it. :)

To counter the dislike with a LIKE - I can barely walk due to the DOMS from yesterday's lower body. Another LIKE for Trisets upper body - I love that abs are incorporated into the trisets. Thank you Cathe.

The Low Impact Series isn't as joint friendly on my knees as I hoped it would be. My knees are really disappointing me lately. This isn't a dislike of the series or Cathe's fault, just my failing knees' fault. :(
