What do you all do after a day of not eating well?

I have really focused on my eating lately and kept it clean. Then today...BAM!! I am eating ritz crackers, a sub sandwich, a couple of malted milk balls. Anyone else have days like these? I'm feel'n bad!

Oh boy, Becky... Here it is the first day of Lent and for dinner (afer doing MIS) I had three glasses of wine, about 8 triscuits, a banana with peanut butter, a couple fistfuls of mixed nuts and about 7 lowfat Sandies! Hoglet!!!

You all are making me hungry :p I just got finished with a can of tuna, and some broccoli for dinner. Oh, and before you think I am being self-righteous, I sit here with my glass of wine!:9 Oh, and I munched some Trader Joes honey/sesame cashews for breakfast!!Jeez, they are amazing, I will not be keeping these around the house very often, they are like potatoe chips, cannot stop after just one, or two, or three....
Hey, we are human after all. What I do after a "not so good dietary day?" The next day I simply eat more veggies, less of everything else.
Seriously, I try to be good all week, and then on Sunday, I eat whatever I want--life is too short not to enjoy the good stuff!:7

Becky, you mean what do I do everyday? I't a struggle, but you try not to focus on the negative and move on. Last night I was reading a book that sort of dealt with how you handle the frustrations and difficulties of life in general and the advice was to think about others first. Act like you want to be and you will become that person. So my advice to you is move on, eat like a skinny person (smaller portions and pretend food isn't the major component of your life) and focus on what you can do for others instead of thinking of yourself first. Yeah, I'm trying too. Good luck and don't forget the wonderful support the folks here can give you.

I agree with Robin completely, especially the part about turning the focus away from ourselves and onto others! Also, you can't beat yourself up for stumbling here and there. It's not realistic for me to be stringent with my diet. I ate clean and healthy all day yesterday -- lots of fruits and veggies and vegetable soup for lunch. When it came time for dinner I was craving french fries so I had some. I've found if I don't give in to my true cravings I will inevitably go off an a major binge fest. I also drink, drink, drink, and drink some more.

Hey Becky. We all do it. Don't sweat it girl. Brush it off, pick yourself up and start fresh the next day! Do some extra cardio if you want...that helps to make me feel better too. You'll be fine!:)

Becky, let it go Girl, you said yourself that you've been keeping it clean. One day is a little blip in the big picture. Consider it fuel for a full tilt cardio session and go for it. Don't chew on it, keep looking forward. We're human, we slip up, we forgive others so it's fair to forgive ourselves and move on.:)

Thanks to you all! I need that sort of talk once in awhile. I woke up this a.m. and had a bowl of oatmaeal and natural PB. Today will be a better day!

Becky

I say if you only had a couple of malt balls; pat yourself on the back. We all have days like this. Sometimes all we can do is take it an hour at a time.

I don't have days like that because I plan on days when I give myself permission to eat bad stuff. Then I have no guilt to deal with the next day. Very few people can stay away from junk all the time, so give yourself designated days to eat the ritz crackers and such.

Don't beat yourself over the head esp. if you eat well most of the time. Anything in moderation will not kill you. Tomorrow is always a new day. And if you're going to have a couple of malt balls, enjoy yourself while you're eating it and don't think twice. Just start over the next day.

I have days like this all the time unfortunately. I try so hard to eat clean and then the next thing I know, I'm eating a half rack of ribs and chili... Will power is not my forte. I read some of the meals and snacks that people on here eat and sometimes think that my pet bunny eats better than that! ;) A dinner made up of sprouts on a whole wheat cracker with half an almond and a carrot stick just doesn't appeal to me! I'm working my way up to it though - lol!

After falling off the bandwagon big time though, I usually beat myself up over it and then try even harder to clean up my eating habits. My problem has been trying to do it all at once. I am now working on eliminating one item at a time and not getting so mad at myself when I mess up. Doritos are going to be the first to go (after I finish my current bag of course...)

LOL! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that!

Ok, last week, I had a 3 day, feeling lousy, eating junk at night festival....I had to take a break from working out as well due to Bronchitis. Figured I'd really mess things up with a major sugar and fat overload right before bed...It was pretty bad. A large bag of peanut m&ms, Russell Stover, and yikes, even my daughter's candy she got from school for Valentine's day.(bad mommy!!) Not to mention half a very large tub of ice cream. I said enough is enough! After 3 days of that, I went back to eating clean and back to my workouts. It wasn't easy, but I forgave myself and moved on. I think my problem is that I wasn't treating myself at all, not taking any rest days, and subsequently got run down and sick. I think we all need to treat ourselves in moderation once in a while.Try not to feel so bad! Take care, Nancy~~

I think I will take your guys' advice and have some "allowance days". I will eat clean and save up to have a small treat now and then. Thanks for such great input and helpful ideas. You guys are great!

Becky

Gosh!!Why didn't I think of that? I think that's a fantastic idea!! Plan your indulgences. The guilt can sabotage you.}(
