Hi every body. I would like ya input. I have crackling knees and i wondering would doing steps five times a week would be okay ? I just discover Cathe when I brought a step at walmart it came with Cathe basic step which I really enjoy. why i'm asking is that I'm actully thinking about using Cathe's dvds and rotations to finish helping me get in good fitness and health. It seem to me most of her cardio come from using step ?

Doing step five times a week would kill my knees. I try to limit it to 2 times, maybe 3. She does have a few other forms of cardio workouts. Some of the ones that come to mind are:

Maximum Intensity Cardio (all floor work)
Kick Max
Cardio Kicks

Hi there,

I think 5 days of step per week is a bit much, especially if you're already noticing some crackling in the knees. I could see this leading to some overuse issues over time.

In addition to the suggestions Liann made, Cathe's KPC is also non-step.

OT but do your crackling knees hurt? My ankles crack. It is almost funny to hear my ankles crackling in time with the steps. It has always done this even while running track and cross country in high school. It doesn't bother me at all. Just wondering.

My right knee crackles, but it doesn't hurt at all. However, I try to vary my cardio to avoid overuse. It's a good idea whether our joints make noise or not. :) I like to walk, run and bike.

I agree--it depends on if it hurts or not. My knees have been crackling since I was like 9 years old. It's never bothered me & I do lots of high impact stuff.

Now, one year away from 40, some things (like MIC or Power Max) give me a little soreness in the knees, but not enough to really cause problems.

High impact step bugs my knees if I do it too much. I think I do it once a week now. I do the Nordic Track once a week and Turbo Jam the 3rd day. The rest of my workouts are weights and tae kwon do classes.
