What body changes, since you started Intensity Series?

RE: What body changes, since you started Intensity Seri...

Thank you for posting that information. I really appreciate it!

Hi Ines

How cool that my post reflected your own situation. Happy birthday to your little one. Boy? Girl? It certainly does go fast, eh?

To answer your question, yes...I have been doing the Intensity Series for only 6 weeks, however, I've been doing an all Cathe rotation since the summer. Bottom line, I'd have to say that's it all boils down to a) working as hard as you can during each tape, b) doing them in a smart and consistent fashion, c) really focusing on contracting your muscles with challenging weight and d) pushing your limits with cardio. I pulled up a previous post to Cathe about what I did and the results (which have only gotten better with the new tapes.) Here it is...sorry but it's loooooong.

I just have to share my results and gush about Cathe YET AGAIN. Sorry, but it's long and it must be done. I know Cathe is busy…but I thought the educated crowd might appreciate my story.

I had a beautiful baby boy at the end January. I had gained over 50 pounds on my small 5'0" frame and I knew it would be a long road back to my former size. I started slowly…with my Firm and Karen Voight tapes…but after a few months, I was ready for Cathe.

I didn't have a whole lot of time to set aside for exercise, so, I knew that when I did work out, I would have to be serious about it. I mean, if I was going to take time away from being with my family…I needed to make it count. And with Cathe’s help, I did.

In the beginning of July, I decided to go on an all Cathe rotation. I never compromised or weaseled out of the tough stuff (which I had the tendency to do on occasion). I gave every single workout everything I had. Laziness was not an option. During the week, I used the CTX cardio segments and I made certain to include Leaner Legs, PS Legs & Abs and Power Hour as often as possible. I really pushed myself on the cardio tapes. I started slicing and dicing up my favorite longer Cathe tapes, like the step portion of Body Max with the leg portion of MIS. I got creative and excited about mixing and matching. (I know, it’s time to switch to DVDs) I cranked up the weights as high as I could muster and even managed to sneak in the occasional ab workout from the Ab Hits video at night after my son went to bed. I gave those infamous planks my all.

Well, today I sit here in a business suit that I couldn’t even wear pre-pregnancy. My legs and buns are tighter, my stomach flatter (although, yes, I do have that orange peely thing going on) and I’m full of energy and confidence. I’ve said it so many times, but Cathe workouts are just downright incredible. They have changed my body, my life and my outlook. I'm even in control of my diet...which is downright amazing. (I used to have a binge problem and it's completely GONE)

In Power Hour you say “you’ll get so much more out of the exercise if you use mental assistance” and I’ve applied that to every single lunge, squat, curl, jump, kick and leap in the past four months and it’s made a WORLD of difference. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the very bottom of my (aerobically conditioned) heart.

RE: Hi Ines

letswork,

Thanks so much for sharing that with me. It's very inspirational!

I too had a little boy! Aren't these coincidences just uncanny?? Hopefully my weight situation will also mirror yours soon!

I had some more ques for you, if you don't mind!:

1.) How many times a week are you working out? And for how long?

2.) What Cathe tapes would you recommend? I just purchased Body Max and Maximum Intensity Strength. Previously I have been doing Karen Voight step tapes, Kari Anderson step tape and pilates matwork.

3.) And finally, do you think it's possible to get enough of a workout without doing any high impact?

Thanks!

Hello again!

Were we seperated at birth? How funny.

Here are your answers:

1. I exercise six days a week for one hour at a time. I take Wednesday off and I run on the treadmill at the gym in my office building on Fridays during my lunch hour. That way my hubby has two nights off during the week from baby duty and we can spend time as a family.

2. BodyMax and MIS are both great workouts! I also highly recommend Power Hour, Leaner Legs and the new Intensity series. Sadly for your pocketbook, I have and would recommend them all (with the exception of the real old stuff...I find it hard to stay motivated with dated tapes.) Keeping it fresh and hitting the muscles in different ways is a big motivator for me as is cross training with all her tapes. A good way to collect them is in stages so that you always have something new to try. In fact, I just got the Slow & Heavy Series off a swap board and intend to do a few weeks of that to shake things up.

3. And finally, yes...I think you CAN get an effective workout without impact; however I think it's very important to still work really, really hard...keeping your movements as big as possible and using your upper body very effectively. Cathe notes that upper body movement can add 12% to the aerobic output. There are some moves that I still modify and think I always will.

Good luck and keep me posted.
