Dress up time! I never dress up for Halloween but DH and I are invited to a costume party this year. I'm going to be a gypsy and he's Indiana Jones. DD (13) is going to be a punk rocker (circa 1980s) and DS (11) is going as a Grim Reaper (his first "scary" costume). I think this will make a nice family picture for the Christmas cards...

What about the rest of you and your kids (both furred and not :p)?

fun fun fun!!! DS 4yo is going as Bumble Bee Transformer, DS 9yo is going as a scary looking skeleton and DD 11yo is going as a zombie prom queen. I think that I am going to dress up as a gothic vampire and DH will probably be Grimm Reaper. I love Halloween!!!

My DH and I are going to be on a float in a parade on the 28th. He is going as the headless horseman and I'm kind of just going as his "zombie/bride/whatnot companion".

My 9 year old is going as Athena. My 13 year old can't decide if she wants to dress up or not. She's keeping her Hatshepsut costume from last year waiting in the wings, just in case.

My 8-year-old daughter will be an ice cream sundae.

My 10-year-old son will be an astronaut.

I will be a person driven crazy by non-stop doorbell ringing for 4 hours! :D

LOL!! Liann...you are so funny:D

My kids (20 & 17) don't dress up anymore (unless they have a party) but my dog is going to be a K9 cop complete with a uniform, handcuffs and a badge.

I love Halloween and seeing all the little ones dressed up. Fun, fun fun.

I am dressing up for my daycare as a pirate. The pre-school kids bring their costumes & we go to a few of the nieghbors. It's alot of work carting around 5 kids but theylove it.
As for my boys they are 13 & 16. Is 13 toold to trick - or - treat? he of course wants to dress up & go out but not sure. What do you guys think?

My older son is going as a Hobo (his idea, not mine, lol) and my younger DS is going to be a spy. SO and I are going to an annual adult Halloween costume party and the theme this year is pirates. We're thinking about going as the stranded vactioners (sort of along the lines of Gilligan's Island characters.)

NO!!! He is not too old. 13 is still a child in my book. If he wants to, you should let him go.
I trick or treated with my friends until the age of 15.I played with dolls at that age too. I was a late bloomer for everything. There is absolutely no reason to grow up too fast. JMO;)

My dd's finally made their choices this week!!

Hannah (9) ~ A brown dog

Kiersten (7) ~ Cheetah cat

Allison (5) ~ Purple unicorn

I guess we have an animal theme! I usually don't dress up, but wear a Halloween shirt & cat ears or something like that. My dh decided to dress up this year as an Army guy- he already has plenty of camo stuff! :p

Funny you should post this, as I have just returned from trying to purchase supplies for my kids costumes.

DS (7) - Darth Vader **Past 2 years he was Anakin (originally because his preschool wouldn't allow Vader) so this year he is transforming and he is so excited.***

DD (3) - A Black Duck

My 11 year old conned me into the creepy Joker mask from Dark KNight and is wearing a creepy overgrown suit and tie with it...Daughteris 17, 5'8 and be moaning that she really is too big! But she may try it, our neighborhood would be cool with it...

About the 13 year old being too old, or the 15 year old playing with dolls - I actually think we pressure kids to grow up too fast - the sexuality, drugs, car accidents and tragedies have increased alarmingly here in our quiet, conservative area - so go ahead and let them be kids as long as you can...just my 2 cents!

This thread makes me sad

as mine is all done as of this year. He is 13 and would rather hand out candy. I am going to post what he was starting with the first year so if anyone wants ideas although they weren't that novel. And I made all but the first three.

A bear
A lion
A fireman
A knight in shining armor
Robin Hood
Three Muskateer
Pirate
A 40's gangster
Michigan State Football Player
The ghost of Babe Ruth (the year the Boston Red Sox broke the curse)
Civil War Officer (Union)
Grim Reaper
Last year was just a plain old mask - that's when I knew he was about done.

I put my heart and soul into making his costumes (and $$$$) and it was so worth it.

Have fun - take lots of pic's!!
