What are you doing for Valentine's Day?

Valentine's Day is Feb. 14, just a week away. Almost everyone has a great Valentine's Day story or two (be it a "best ever" or a "worst ever" - feel free to share either way), and some people start planning for it months in advance. And then of course, there are those who think of Valentine's as just another Hallmark Holiday, used to separate their money from their wallets... Question: What are your plans for Valentine's Day this year?

I'm on call in the ICU. So, I expect I'll be intubating, placing lines, and having difficult discussions with families. :(

But, the day before, DH and I get to go out to dinner at our local football stadium and get a tour. It's a physician recruitment thing.

Becky, I hope your pre-Valentine's dinner is a good one! Goodness, you deserve it!

Since we have 3 DDs we make it a family holiday. One year I made heart-shaped pizza for our daughters to decorate. Another year I shaped meatloaf into a heart and dyed our mashed potatoes pink. And yes, some fabulous V-Day dessert too!:D

DH and I are dressing up in red and going to a friends' house for a party complete with chocolates, drinks, Newlywed game, and sex toy "conference", lol. My friend is having a Pure Romance party - like a Tupperware or Pampered Chef party gone skanky, hahaha;)

Now THAT sounds like a fun Valentine's Day!

We quit trying to go out after our first year up here. If you don't make reservations by June 30 the year before, forget getting in anywhere - even McDonalds! So, we order Indian food, my DH picks it up and we open a bottle of wine and eat in our jammies while watching a movie! Usually, anyway. This year DH is unemployed, so it'll be slightly different. Homemade tamales, drunken beans, a bottle of wine and a movie! :D

Not a thing. I've always loathed the day.

I do however, have a single girlfriend who tends to get down on the day. So I've invited her and her pups to come spend the weekend with DH and me. We will pass it with wine, food, movies and reminising (yeah that's spelled incorrectly) about the good ole college times, such as the night I was so drunk she had to take my contacts out for me. Of course she was just as hammered so small miracle I still have my vision after her slurred groping of my eyeballs ...

Good times! :p

In the past, DH and I usually have a nice dinner at home then break out the FUNYUNS!;)

However, DH's grandpa passed away 2 years ago and since Valentine's Day was their wedding anniversary, it is a hard day for grandma to get through. So, we bring her a dozen roses (as grandpa did every year) and take her out lunch or an early dinner.

Judi - I think that is extremely thoughtful of you and your DH. I am sure she appreciates it so very much.

My bf and I never do anything crazy for V-day. We've been together for 4 years and every year I reiterate "NO gifts!!!" We will usually do cards and little chocolates, then have dinner & dessert(s) (;);)) at home. I'm done trying to go to a restaurant on V-day! Fixed menus, crowds, & higher prices? No thanks!!

tight budget

We are on a tight budget (unemployed x 2) but we are just making it, just the 2 of us - so if I can save a little from the next few wks and cut back on groceries (which I usually buy @ 10 bucks more than we need anyway), then we can go to this great fish place I love. It has fish flown in from all around the country daily and they make the best dishes. I don't feel like I'll be blowing my diet like if we go to Chilli's or someplace like that. I generally overeat at those places. - Hope everyone has a happy V day. - Autumn

To the original poster: this is your second post in two days asking about people's plans on special days, and your dates are screwed up in both of them. Coupled with the fact that these are your only two posts, and your signature, in which you are trying to sell something, I find you suspect. I'm not sure exactly what's up with you, but I think people should be cautious posting on your threads. If I'm wrong, so be it.

My husband will be watching the Daytona 500. (Without me...I HATE Nascar.)

I don't mind -- Nascar was his first love. I'm happy for him.
