What are you cooking / having for Christmas dinner?

We are going totally unconventional this year and having ....... chili. We're going to have people coming and going all day so we're cooking up a big pot of white chili (I'm actually going to try to make the tofu version for me :) ) and just setting out all of the toppings. Think I'll put together a big beautiful holiday color salad too, and of course the obligatory cookie trays. What are you all having or cooking?

Lorrie

My mom is making beef tenderloin, french beans, potatoes lyonnaise, and I'm not sure what else. I'm bringing desert, chocolate bread pudding and ice cream.

ETA: make that DESSERT, I'm not bringing a large area of sand...:p

I am making the stuffing and gravy. Otherwise, Turkey, Potatoes, stuffing & gravy and my fave:...... PUMPKIN PIE!!!!

Hi Lorrie....how are you doing? I will have the same as Thanksgiving. Tofurkey with widl rice stuffing and gravy, garlic mashed potatoes (vegan) and most likely some veggies. I have a good chili recipe with TVP (textured vegetable protein) from the Eat To Live book if you are interested. But I bet you can do a serach and find a tofu one, or maybe Kathryn might know of one...:)...:)...Carole

Do I have to think that far in advance???

Christmas Eve is at DH's folks house...Lasagna (EVERY year)...Hopefully my mother-in-law doesn't have hurt feelings when I bring a dairy free one for myself...She doesn't understand that turkey is STILL meat, and cheese is STILL dairy (even though she doesn't want them to be)...

Christmas day I'll put a BIG pot of soup on (neighbors drop in all day) and start up the bread machine...Haven't decided what kind of soup yet...

MJ

We do the same meal every Christmas. Ham, green bean casserole, "killer" potatos (a casserole with hash browns, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, butter, cheese - it will clog your arteries but good). I think dessert will be the Cranberry Amaretto Pound cake I mentioned before. Since I'm working Sat and Sun, there's no time to make a pie and I will NOT buy one, but the cake can be made several days ahead.

We are hosting Christmas Eve dinner. Our menu is:

Crackers and assorted cheeses
Roasted red pepper dip with homemade rosemary focaccia
Sundried tomato and basil dip with breadsticks and veggies
Wild mushroom and potato strudel in phyllo pastry
Cold cooked shrimp
Vegetable curry
Lasagna (my SIL is bringing this)
Chocolate banana bread pudding with warm custard sauce
Confetti squares (a cake swirled with shaved chocolate, topped with buttercream and a layer of chocolate)
Assorted cookies

Christmas Day we'll have leftovers and Boxing Day (the day after Christmas) at my sister's is a traditional turkey dinner.

Yum!!

My sister is cooking this year so I'm not sure what's on the menu, but it's always Italian! We're of Italian ancestry and we always have an Italian feast for Christmas and Easter. I'm taking bread and salad and my sister is doing the rest.

All the menu's posted here look scrumptious and I'd be happy to join any of you for dinner!

We start at my MIL's about 9 a.m. on Christmas eve for breakfast and, as usual, my MIL had a huge spread. She comes from a family of 11 children and all these years later, she still cooks like that, even though she has one child, my husband. She is an excellent cook and I am really looking forward to it!!!

Then she has all kinds of pick ups to munch on between breakfast and for lunch. She gets drummettes from the local KFC, ham/cheese ball with crackers. She makes these little pizzas that are on the little party rye bread, those are unbelievably good. I'm taking a large tray of all the goodies I've been making. She also makes homemade chicken salad that is the best I've ever tasted.

Then we go to DH's aunt's for Christmas eve evening. She always has a large pork loin and homemake biscuits. There is also a large spread of pick ups there.

On Christmas day, we go to my daddy's and stepmom's. She is baking a 20-pound ham for the crowd. We all bring a dish so there'll be tons of food there. I am taking my macroni and cheese casserole and party potatoes.

We are also having a cookie exchange there. There are ten total individual households represented, so we bring 10 baggies of at least six items in each bag since six is the largest household.

See why I'm trying to keep it clean this week. Fitday is going to blow a fuse these two days!}(

It's just DH and I at home this year:

Breakfast: Blueberry Crepes
Lunch: not sure, maybe snacky stuff
Dinner: New York stead, mushrooms and baked potatoes with Caesar Salad.

We go to my mom's, and she'll have ham and all the traditional things. I am going to bring a vegitarian/tofu pot pie, I make it with a nutritional yeast gravy and it's just yummy! I'll probably bring some vegetable side dish, I'm not sure what though.
