We're sooo proud! (VERY looong!)

Debbie,
That is wonderful! It is so special that it all came together like it did. Good luck with your surgery. I am sending many healing vibes your way! :)
Cath :)

Wow, Debbie! How awesome! I am so happy for you and your family that you were able to make this happen. What a proud day it will be for all of you.

I too will be having an extraction, bone graft and eventually another implant. In fact, I think I'm going to have one this year and another next year. The worst pain is to the pocketbook, IMHO. I sure do hope you're okay to make it.

HTH,

-Nancy

Momma D!! What an amazing story!! It sounds like you have a true gem for a father-in-law. I got chills reading your story! Please thank your father-in-law for his service to our country:) I hope you will be able to attend and post pictures of his special day!

You should be that proud Mama Deb - and more. A heartfelt congratulations to all of you for having this work out, and please give a heartfelt THANK YOU to your FIL for all he's done! Oh - and the tooth thing - love those implants. If you can make it through the IMAXes, dental surgery is no sweat! LOL. Good luck honey!

Lorrie

That's wonderful news about your FIL. I bet he will be proud and surprised.

Good luck on your dental surgery. Argh! I HATE dental stuff!

Hi Debbie! This is such wonderful news about your FIL & after his bio was very impressed. Good luck on your surgery & I hope all goes well. Hugs, Kathy:*

DebbieH,
Thanks for the wonderful post about your father. Many thanks to him and other veterans for their enormous service.
Does your dad by any chance know a man named Paul Winner? He is a friend from church who was an officer very involved with the Battle of the Bulge. My dad, dead now, was shot down and captured just before D-day. Best wishes for the celebration. And with your surgery.

Debbie:

Oh my Gosh, that is wonderful. My Dad served in 2 wars and was burried at Arlington National Cemetary.

Please let us know all about it. Tears will be runny down my face as well :)

Also good vibes on the surgery.

Hugs

- Robyn

Wow, that is sooo beautiful! Deep appreciation to your FIL and the countless others who have sacrificed for our country and freedom. How proud you all must be!!! Make sure to have plenty of tissues on hand!
Claudia

Lots of love to you and your proud family!!

Debbie -
I wasn't able to go last night - is it going to get on the news? I taped the 11:00 news from last night and it didn't get on. Will it be on today?
Just Do It! :)

Hi all! I am going to post an E-mail I sent off to a friend about the event. It was such a wonderful evening! Lorrie, thanks for asking in a separte thread. HB sorry you couldn't make it. I didn't see your post til just now. I am not sure about the news as we taped it also. The choir got on but no FIL! :) Not sure if there will be any follow-ups...okay, here is what I wrote earlier:

Okay, the WWII event...AWESOME! It was absolutely wonderful and there was so many tearful moments. There was a combined choir from The Summit County Society and The Arlington Church of God! You should have heard the one lady sing...she is Afro-American and had the most beautiful voice. She actually had sang at a Christmas Concert at our church one year and we loved her voice then. We hooked up with a guy there that had taped the whole nite and he is sending us a DVD of the whole nite and I will have it burned off after we receive it to share with you. When it was time for my FIL to go up on stage, our local newscaster was the master of ceremonies & is himself a major in the Ohio Army National guard and just returned earlier this year from active duty as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. (HB, it is Eric Mansfield from WKYC news) NICE, NICE man and quite good looking too! I am going to send you a couple pix we took. He had a very serious voice when he started to tell the audience about a certain gentleman in the audience not mentioning his name and after he told the story, he announced in a serious voice, Would Staff Sergeant Louis Hollingshead please come forward!!! The mayor of Akron came and escorted him to the stage and I have to tell you, there was HONESTLY a change in my FIL as far as how he walked and held himself! Even though all of us had cried several times thru the nite, there was such a proudness in his chest that we all just clapped and cheered and he got a standing ovation form the choir & the audience. There were people all crying around us and we even ran into a lady at the restaurant later that said she cried so hard and was sooo proud of him. When Eric Mansfield (the newscaster) pinned him, it was breathtaking! Dave was snapping shots and we got the most awesome pic with stars & stripes behind. They even had a salute to him by a battalion that just returned that lost 15 of their own guys. THAT was sad! After they pinned him they handed him the mic and he said that the pin wasn't for him...it was for the ones who weren't as lucky as him to return!!! You could tell he meant it from the bottom of his heart! Let me end this by saying that this event made me sooo appreciate what they all have done for us & that I will never take for granted the sacrifices they made even if they came home! I will post next a few pix for you all in the next post....Also...THANK YOU all for your warm wishes and prayers for my dental work as all went just fine and I am feeling very well this morn. You guys are THE BEST! Take a peek at the next post for pix! HUGS~Deb

Debbie:

That is so amazing. Your post put a shiver in my spine. I could feel your FIL's pride as you explained his walk. And what he said brought tears to my eyes. My father also served in WW II and the Korean war. How amazing the night was for you.

What a wonderful wonderful night for a very special man and your wonderful family.
