We're in this together

Went for a short walk this morning. I need to go again esp the way I've been eating.

How's the weekend going for everyone?

Linda, I am worried about you. Come out come out where ever you are.

Catherine- YAY on the walk!! How did it go? I hope it doesn't give you a flare up with your pain. My SIL should be doing physical therapy but not really sure she is following through. They live in TX and last time I spoke to her, she revealed that she pretty much sits in a recliner all day and doesn't do anything. I'll know more when they come to MN for July 4th at the cabin. Also, their son is moving back here and will be living with us while he goes to college. He has really missed living here and spending time with all his cousins.

Linda- Ditto on what Catherine said.....I'm worried about you too! Hope everything is OK.

It has been a busy weekend here and I finally got some time to just sit and relax. We bought DD a car yesterday and will be picking it up tomorrow. Her old Ford Focus was breaking down too much and we just couldn't put any more money into it so we picked up a 2010 Hyundai Sonata. Nice car for the price but not looking forward to the higher insurance.

Judi, I have to wonder how your SIL will do with the trip from TX to MN. When was her surgery? I could easily sit in a recliner every day and hurt less. I still have pain every day. But I do tolerate doing more because I am moving. Sucks but it's what I must do. Yay for your daughter's new car but boo in higher insurance costs.

Maybe Linda's vacation was this past week. I can not remember.

Just did my walk for the day. I look forward to the day when I can report something other than a casual walk!!

How's everyone else doing today?

Catherine- HEY, I still want to hear about your walks...casual or not;) It is progress and that is what you are working toward. How did you feel after? BTW, my SIL's surgery was over a year ago and she still isn't doing anything. She will be flying up here while my brother will be driving with my nephew following him. He is moving in with us while he goes to college here so they have a lot of stuff to bring back. I am trying to be more sympathetic with her condition especially after hearing what you are going through but she seems to be milking the situation. You still go to work and walk even though it may be painful. PROUD OF YOU!!!

Linda- I hope you are on vacation and having a wonderful time. Full report when you get back:)

I went for a run outside yesterday for the first time in over 6 months. I love being outside and it was a beautiful day. After I got back, I did Lauren Brook's kettlebell workout. Whoa...I am sooooo out of shape when it comes to those!

Judi, thank you so much for your kind supportive words. They mean a lot to me. Today's been a not so good day  Lots of pain starting early in the day. Makes it hard to keep going at work. Believe it or not the people I work with have no clue how I feel. You'd think they'd see it but they don't  I don't want anyone to feel sorry for me- I just want understanding.

Nice job on your run and KB w/o. Lauren sure knows how to pack a lot in a little time. Hey I used to do chinups during the rest periods on that workout

Catherine- It is really tough when you are in pain yet there is no "visible" sign of injury for people to see. If you were wearing a brace, cast, walking with crutches, had bruises etc... then people tend to take notice. Instead, you have to suffer in silence because they can't "see" your pain. I went through that when I tore my hamstring at the sit bones. I was hurting but no-one really knew so I totally get how you feel. Sometimes you just want to scream "I HURT LIKE HELL FOR GOD SAKES...ARE YOU PEOPLE BLIND?!"

Thanks for the chin up idea with Lauren's DVD. Sometimes that 1 minute rest between sets feels too long. I usually jump rope but chins & pulls are a great idea....I think:rolleyes:

Judi, IIRC when I used to do Lauren's w/o and add the chins I would do them for the first several rounds and then I'd start to poop out. But it makes for a good w/o :p

I've had a rough week. Headaches, dizzy spells and the back/leg acting up. I ask myself when is it gonna end,.... I know it will but damn it's hard being patient!!

Catherine- Sorry to hear it has been a rough week:( I would wonder the same thing about when is it going to end. You have been extremely patient. Is it pretty much all nerve issues that are causing your pain? I was blown away by how complex our bodies are when I went to the Body Worlds exhibit. Have you seen it? Basically it is all human bodies that have been preserved in whole or pieces and to see all the nerves, blood vessels, muscles, bones etc. is amazing.

Today was a 5K run on the treadmill since it is raining and then Lauren Brooks dvd again. Not ready to add in chins/pulls as I'm still struggling to get back my KB endurance. It wiped me out today:confused:

We might be heading to the cabin tomorrow....weather permitting.

Judi, I have not seen the exhibit but have heard about it. It sounds like a neat thing to see. The body is indeed complex and healing is too. Nice job on running and doing KBs afterwards.

I've got in my sister's pool yesterday and this morning for a short time. Mostly just floating, treading water and kicking the legs some. It felt good to have my legs moving like that. Cross your fingers that it doesn't flare things up.

Catherine- YAY for the pool time! Keeping my fingers crossed for no flare ups.

Had fun at the race track on Friday. My in-laws had a horse in one of the races and it too second.....which was a surprise. She wasn't expected to do that well. I bet her across the board and won $13.80. The rest of my bets were not successful;) I took yesterday off so today was CCV5 on the spin bike. I think it would be a good night for pizza!

Hey Linda- Are you back from vacation yet?

Not too bad for a Monday. I whine about the bad days, so I need to report the not so bad days too. Less pain today and I always appreciate that :) I did get in the pool again for a little bit after work. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Judi, sounds like you all had a good weekend. Pizza sounds so good right now. Did you get it last night?

Linda, how are you doing? How was Disney?

Catherine- Glad your Monday wasn't too bad. We need to celebrate the good days!

I did athletic step and step moves today. One isn't enough cardio but both together is kinda BLECH! Did them on an 8" step to up the intensity a bit. Not sure what to do strength wise tomorrow. My wrists are sore from doing cleans with the kb. I still seem to bang them too much....need to work on that.

I skipped my workout today and did a bunch of planting & yard work. A local greenhouse had everything 50% off so I bought a lot of perennials. I took me most of the day to get them all planted then had to pick up mulch to put down. Dirty work but it looks much nicer now.

Catherine- Hope you have been doing better. How did you feel after your time in the pool?

Linda- Are you back yet?

Hey Ladies, I am so, so sorry I have been MIA. About a week and a half before my trip, DH looked at me and said his DAD (who was paying for everything) was expecting us to arrive at Disney with a plan. Especially since we arrived on a Monday and Left on Friday, not much time. So I jumped into overdrive researching all the Disney parks and what they had to offer and at the same time continued working on getting my pool project done. Needless to say it was all I did.

Trip was great but very very busy we opened every park and never got to bed before 11-12pm. We pushed the kids hard, by Friday all they wanted was to go to the hotel pool. Disney is not a four day trip.

The pool is up a running. FINALLY! :D:D:D:D I got it up just last Thursday.

Saw the actual surgeon on Thursday instead of the PA. I have to have surgery. :( There is a tear in my rotator cuff, but instead of the normal tear which lifts up and away, mine has a split in it right over the insertion over the long head of my biceps. And there is something going on with the attachment of the long head of the biceps. They were gonna schedule my surgery for the next week or two but I have decided to delay it until September, because it's summer the kids are home and I can't sit not able to do anything.

It is now June 21st and I need to get my pt recertification by June 30th and I have not even started. So I will be once again be crazy busy for the next week.

Okay I think that's all.

Oh I still have been working out following Debbie's Get ready for Summer Rotation. And I will probably started again when I finish, because the lighter weights is all I can handle these days with my shoulder.

Woo Hoo!! Welcome back Linda! Sounds like you have been incredibly busy. Did you hit all the parks at Disney? You are right....4 days would keep you hopping every minute. What did you like the best? Sorry about your shoulder and needing the surgery. Makes sense to put it off until the summer is over. Also, good idea keeping the weights light for now....you don't want that tear to become a total rupture. Believe me...I know:confused:

Catherine- How was your weekend? Hoping the flare ups have been less and you are heading in the right direction. I just heard my SIL is going to have another back surgery. Not sure what it is for but I'll be seeing her in a couple weeks and will find out.

Catherine, sorry to hear you are still struggling quite a bit. I really hope you start having more good days.

Judi, sounds like you are doing well. I did MIS this morning and was surprised at how hard the light weights seemed. Worries me to think about losing strength but I really don't have a choice.

Hey gals. Been busy and crazy around here. Not much change around here. Status quo is better than the alternative though :)

Linda, I am so sorry you need surgery. Sounds like you have been busy!! I hope you find some time to rest ;)

Judi, I feel so bad for your SIL :( I'd be interested in knowing what she is having done. How are things for you? I've been enjoying your pics on FB ;)

Catherine - Nice to know you are holding steady.:)

Hello to Judi

I did MIS yesterday and just matched Cathe for everything and am surprised at the amount of DOMS I have today. Today was HIIT 30/30. I think I am addicted to the HIITs and need an intervention.

Linda- I did MIS last week for the first time in ages. I also matched Cathe but those crazy eights with the 35lb barbell are still hard for me...mostly the full reps of up-one count and down-three count. OUCH! Hope things are settling down and getting back to normal.

Catherine- Keep holding steady!:) Did you see the new pic of DD in her scrubs on FB? She is finishing up clinicals for her assisted nursing certification and has been working at a nursing home. Quite eye opening! This is the first step for applying to the nursing program.

Yesterday I did PUB plus the stability ball section of PLB. Lifted heavier than Cathe on everything but still so frustrated with my biceps. I did 12,15,20 and the 20's were tough:(
