We're In This Together **JUNE**

Good morning fit ones :)

Yesterday's w/o was D18 (back & bi's). That 5% increase really caught me off guard . I'm so happy Cathe is introducing the barbell in this Mesocycle for the majority of the exercises. I feel like a warrior using that thing . My absolute fav though is pull/chin-ups w/my tower . Perhaps one day I will be able to knock them out Linda Hamilton style. I was always in awe of her body in T2.

I finally got my dumbbell weighted plate set! Ok, so the UPS guy comes to the door. I'm ready to take the package, and he's like "no, no, it's TOO heavy". He comes inside and puts the box on the floor. The box weighs 45lbs . I felt like saying "buddy, I can chest press more than that". BUT, I'm not one of those girls who get offended by nice gestures (and plus he was kinda cute ;)). I like chivalry too :D. I also remember unloading skids from the docks (my full-time job) and the delivery drivers were always amazed that I actually used the pump truck and two-wheeler to help them out. They thought it was pretty awesome that a 5ft nothing woman didn't mind "getting dirty". That job kept me in good shape but DESTROYED my back :(.

Colleen
Your schedule looks...what's the word I'm looking for here...awesome crazy! You will know if it's too much to handle, so don't worry about it. I personally would not underestimate To The Max or Crossfire though. Hiit/Tabata is F'ing NUTS! I have to put a swear word in there cuz' I can't describe it any other way .
Sarah
Ugghh, Jury Duty :(. Can't you get out of it? Make severely racist comments. That will do the trick ;).
Jen
Great job on the blogging. It seems as though it has been a very positive, good thing for you at this point in your life.
Congrats on your internship too. I hope it leads to promising opportunities.

Have a great day guys! :)

Hello Friends.

Sarah-Hope jury duty goes well and fast.

Natty-Love Cycle 2. Yes, the 5% increase is a stunner. I did 14 last night 13 the night before. not smart. Never seen a bad looking UPS guy ever. Mine just dropped them off at my door up my hill so he got a workout. I can see you unloading a truck....No Ice Capp yet.

Colleen-Yes, I agree with Natty that your schedule is crazy especially with Horizontal conditioning.

Last night, I posted #20 to the blog although I have a problem of looking at the stats. It has helped keep me sane. Posting what I am passionate about, hope to do home fitness in the future. My internship went well, the statement balancing is easier than I thought. Plus, I may get paid plus be there longer than two weeks. The person whom I am interning with stopped by the grocery store, she was in the living room talking to her Mom and her brother was outside so I looked in the bags and I found the bottle in a small brown bag. I won't say anything. We worked well together today. Sales is a very social thing. Hope to workout tomorrow.

Hee hee! Yeah, I may be slightly crazy...we'll see! I have sort of a built in fail safe if the workouts get too intense and I feel myself flirting with overtraining. If I'm feeling tired I figure I could do something like Circuit Blast instead of Drill Max, CSS instead of AB, with the TB strength I could use lighter weights and so on. I'm going to try and push it as hard as I can, but I'm sort of familiar with how overtraining feels so I'll know when to back off. I've skirted the edge of overtraining a few times:eek:. I think after my rest week from that I may dive into another 31/2 month rotation of STS. Honestly, I was sort of disappointed with my results from alternating STS with circuits. I didn't seem to reap the benefits from either style of training. I lost a little bit of strength from STS and my weight and body fat stayed the same and I was hoping to decrease those just a little. I think I confused my body and muscles a little too much! lol:p

Tomorrow I'm doing LBB! Yippee!:D

Natty- I loved back days with STS and the pull ups once I got my tower! I'm excited to get really serious about pull ups when I get back to STS. That's so funny how the guys at your job were impressed with your willingness to dig in and work hard! Guys really dig women like that! I'm unfortunately a weenie in those situations! LOL

Jen- That would be awesome to include fitness in your blog! I bet if you can inspire someone else in that situation to exercise it would really help with their stress levels. It's so nice to be able to blow off steam like that and I bet it would help focus others in their job hunts! If nothing else, it can be a welcome distraction during frustrating times!

Sarah- Jury duty! You poor thing!:( I've never had to sit on a jury (where's that wood to knock on, okay there it is!). We have a murder trial going on in our town right now that really crazy. Mark and I were just talking tonight what it would be like to be on the jury. I totally think he's guilty! They probably would disqualify me from the jury knowing that I already have an opinion!;) We leave for Disney on June 30!:D The kids are so excited, they keep marking the calendar days off. Actually, Dylan is bugging me right now to help him with that. Better go!

Good night ladies!

Good morning ladies :)

Yesterday w/o was walking and playing in the park w/Bella. I've been very exhausted with TTOTM and lack of sleep. I feel better today and will tackle D17(legs). I hope that disc does not give me super 3-day DOMS like the last one . I need to get in at least one Cathe cardio by the end of the week.

Colleen
Don't be so hard on yourself with the results from your STS/Circuit rotation. At least you tried, and that's the most important thing. I remember a guy once told me "you never regret what you did, but you always regret what you didn't do". I think he was just trying to...ummm...you know what I'm getting at here ;). Wise words nonetheless :D.
Have you ever thought about tackling M3 again? You never know, the heavy weight might be a "good shock" to your body. Circuits are more light light weights/toning. You never know unless you try ;).
Jen
I would have looked in the bag too ;).
I'm glad to hear your internship day went well.
Blogging about home fitness sounds like a great idea. I wish more people would embrace it :(.

Gotta get some laundry max done! Have a rockin' day folks!

Afternoon ladies!

Lower Body Blast...how do I love thee? Let me count the ways...
I swear, that one is still my favorite workout!:D I did the standing premix with the leg conditioning drills. When I did that last part I did the leg lifts and then while she did the thigh pulses on the toes section I subbed in various firewalker moves until she got to the cross over lunge part which I did flat footed. Even doing those thigh pulses flat footed kills my knees...something I learned when I tried it with TB:confused:. I was sweating like crazy too. When I was bent over the bar on the tower during the leg lifts I was drip, drip dripping onto my puzzle mats! A little yucky maybe, but I was actually really tickled by it!:p

So remember the contact lens rep I mentioned awhile back that I can't stand? He was back today. What an annoying little fly that guy is! Every time he comes he manages to pi$$ me off just a little more. I come back from the restroom and there he is, talking with one of my patients about the contact lens solution he sells like he's the doctor. I specifically don't like that solution at all and didn't recommend that one to that particular patient for a reason. I gave him the old stink eye and he immediately knew he had screwed up. Lord.

Natty- I definitely plan to muscle my way through Meso 3 next time I do STS! Now that I have the tower I think it will go better...or at least I hope! If all goes as planned I should be starting back up with STS again right about back to school time in the fall. I really want to concentrate on the strength gains this time. My first time through, I was mostly getting familiar with the program so now I feel like I could really tackle it seriously. Holy crap, I just realized I have pretty much the rest of my year planned out! We'll see how the follow through goes!;)
That's so funny about that guy...men are so transparent aren't they?:p And they think they're being all clever, sneaky or charming when they are hitting on us! lol

Sarah- I hope we get to hear from you this week!

Have a great afternoon everybody!

Sitting waiting patiently. I'm so glad that I can still read all your posts. Thank you all for that. It makes me feel like I'm still connected.

Colleen - it's so hard to exercise in the morning. Kuddos to you. I got up yesterday early to exercise and didn't feel like it right away. So i did housework. Then I felt like it, but only had a 1/2 hour left. So I did Hiit pyramid. This morning I did the same thing basically. I dont feel like it right off the bat. By the time I do, I don't have enough time. I ended up high reps, but couldn't finish it. I don't know how you do it.

Jen- sneaky lady! I would have been curious to look, but wouldn't have had the guts.

Nat- walk sounds nice. Between getting ready for the garage sale in the evening and jury duty in the day, my poor pooch hasn't had a walk for 4 days, I think.

Sarah

Hello Friends.
How are you? Today, I was encouraged to stay and likely to get paid at my internship. Tonight, I asked her what was in her bag. Tonight it was wine. Yes, I am gutzy at times
A former vendor recognized me from my old job and told me stuff. He already knew most of it. Positive he will run back to the CU to tell them, oh well. It seems they are getting rid of anyone over the age of 40 either pushing them out or firing. Lost three seasoned employees in the past few weeks. Thank GOD, I'm gone.
My next blog will be based on home fitness for over 50, not this one, although I do suggest working out to relieve stress and to be more confident.
Tonight, I decided to walk before it gets too hot and do disc 15 on Saturday.

Natty-Your workouts sound awesome. Yes, I did get DOMS from the leg workout too plus doing them back to back. Did you buy STS abs? Cathe loves that poster about wearing black to workout, did you see the posting?

Colleen-LBB is awesome!! It might be a good primer for the new workouts. Yes, I know about the annoying ones. A guy like that can be a liability if he is "speaking" like a doc. It may imply to someone that he is.

Sarah-Yes, please stay connected. I like reading your updates.

Hello ladies :)

I'm on the couch writing this and my butt hurts from yesterdays w/o (D17-legs). Nothing like the last DOMS though (thank goodness!!). I've come to the conclusion that I need a weighted vest. My 75% 1RM is a lot higher for squats and static lunges but I can't get there :(. For one thing, I find it very awkward to hold 25lbs dumbbell's. I'm a wuss ok, it hurts my forearms. If I go higher in #'s, I feel myself slouching and my form being off. Secondly, if I try to use my barbell (which is my preferred method) I can only hoist 40lbs of barbell safely over my head. So, I'm basically stuck at 50 lbs max. I did not feel my legs challenged enough for 10 reps unfortunately :(. I wanna go HARD on my lower body . It's a common myth that pear-shapers need to do light weight/high reps. The heavier I go, the leaner my thighs/butt become.

Today's w/o will be Athletic Step :D.

Sarah
Glad you can read our posts :).
I'm sorry you are stuck at Jury Duty :(. Hopefully it ends soon so you can get the heck out of there!
Colleen
I miss my LBB :(. I get turned on by sweat dripping on my mats/floor too ;).
I'm telling you, all those contact lens solution reps are A-holes!
With M3, you really need to accurately determine your 1RM. To do 8-10 reps, you gotta find that perfect weight, or else what's the point? :(
Jen
OMG Jen, you are TOO funny! I can't believe you asked her about the bag! That was pretty cool of you actually :D.
Perhaps it was a good thing you left your former employer when you did. All those poor folks getting canned :(. Life works in mysterious ways sometimes, but I find it all comes together for the best at the end.
No, I did not buy STS abs. I used to do abs religiously at one time, but then I realized that I can get results just by eating well. So I stopped. I work my core in so many other ways, and I don't really need a 6pk.

Have a wonderful day folks!

Hello Friends.

Natty-Wow!! Weighted vest. Yep, Cathe puts her's on sometime. I know that is how last year I lost weight and gained muscle without my calorie counter too. You will notice it just standing there. I like Cathe's best. Gin Miller has one too.

Today and next week, I won't be picking up my friend so I will be making stops with her on the way home. If I can encourage her in some way to live healthier, it will help her at home and at work.
Being away for about one year now, I'm SO happy not to be there. God knows I could never go back. Plus, I won't do business with them as well.

Saturday should be disc 15, I ended up walking last night. Hope to be in recovery for the week when the new workouts come out.

Natty- YES, I agree that the heavier I go on weighted squats/lunges the leaner my legs and butt get too! I also trend toward a pearish shape. My butt and thighs are the first place to deposit fat when I gain. That myth drives me crazy...actually the myth that women should avoid all weights over 3 lbs drives me totally bonkers!

I did Power Fusion by Ellen Barrett, today. Speaking of those who always talk about "bulk" and avoid heavy weights:eek:. I do love her though. I always reach for her when I know I've pushed myself too much and need a nice stretchy workout. I actually prefer her stuff over straight up yoga these days since she actually moves in a very fluid way throughout the workout. Really slow moving yoga makes me feel really antsy these days, which I'm sure isn't the point of yoga! lol I felt great afterwards. LBB fried my lower body yesterday! I really needed to let out that tension.

Jen- that is so sad how your old company is pushing out older employees. It's probably good you got out of there...it sounds pretty toxic:(.

Sarah- how's jury duty going? Anything exciting?

Have a great day ladies!

Oh what a relief it is! It was a murder trial and just the jury selection took 3 days. I didn't make it on the jury, and am so relieved. I haven't even been sleeping good sense this thing started. Just the questioning alone with 60 other potential jurors having to talk about domestic violence, mental illness, graphic forensic evidence, war memories. The worst part was not being able to go pee when I needed. Today after 2 hours I finally raised my hand and said I need to go NOW. Maybe that was their reason for not wanting me, knowing they would have to break all the time for the bathroom. It was a huge case for our community. A Russian man (in the country illegally) basically beat someone to death and has a mental illness. Then he tried to hide the body.

Good morning ladies :)

OMG, did you guys see the description of Tabata from SNM in the Newest/Upcoming forum?  I think the newest are probably gonna be the hardest Cathe has ever put out. I'm telling you guys, TABATA IS NUTS! Tom Holland's Tabata Inferno makes me want to die, it's that hard. The exercises themselves are not tough, very simple moves like squat jumps/high knees/push-ups, ect., it's the 20 sec work-your-butt-off, with only 10 sec rest that kills you . Think 40/20, but condensed . Ya, that hard . I love how Cathe always pushes the envelope. I know a lot of her fans are asking for Low Impact, but there are still many of us that enjoy high impact. It's wonderful how she accommodated both sectors. Say what you want about that woman, she is THE BEST in the industry. And look at her!!! 47? 48? Hot as ever! I believe her inner beauty matches her outer beauty as well.

Today's w/o is D16 (chest, shoulder's, tri's).

Sarah
Holy! That case sounds very intense! I'm glad you didn't get chosen. Good play with the "bathroom breaks" ;) :D. Hope you have a nice, relaxing w/e.
Colleen
Ellen Barrett looks very calm, pretty and graceful. It's nice to have that balance.
Jen
I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Relax and have fun ;).
Ellie
Great question on the forum!!! You rock girl!!! BTW, are you watching the Euro Cup? What is going on with Italy . Two ties?! I was hoping they would win at least one game :(. That's ok, there's always the World Cup ;).

Have a great weekend folks!

Hello Friends.
Sarah-Good call but when nature calls, you must answer. What a horrible crime though.
Colleen-Never heard of Ellen Barrett either. there are at least 12 kinds of yoga, I did astanga in college.
Natty-Yes, the heavier I go, the better I look too. This time with STS, I'm adding more weight sooner. The preview plus the short workout she gave everyone on FB or here was a preview of what is to come. Tabata scares me b/c it is applied to spinning as well.

Yes, my former employer was/is toxic. they are pushing out the seasoned employee or anyone "old school." I wnat them to do well but not at my expense. Getting slammed in public by the operations manager to my former supervisor is not kosher with me.
Thank GOD, I'm not there anymore!!
Today, I made Texas Chili with cayenne. Also, mesa flour, corn, dark kidney beans, diced tomatoes plus chili seasonings, ground turkey instead of beef or shredded chicken, topped off with shredded cheddar and sour cream. Per serviing on Lose It!, it came to 325 calories.
My workout to work off the stuff is going to be High Reps, I considered LBB b/c it was mentioned by Colleen and it's a goodie. Need to have cycle 2 done by the new ones come out.
Blogging is going well. Self-therapy really. Not looking at stats though, I seem to do better in quality when I don't. Did my first resume for this.
Also, Internship went well yesterday. My friend gave me a gas card for driving her all over. Monday is back to the audit and assist with the start-up.

BBL.

Hi ladies! Checking in late.
We have people over and I'm thinking about sneaking off and going to bed. Bad hostess! lol I tell ya, I can't really handle more than one glass of wine or one beer anymore. I started on a second glass of wine and was like "bleh", dumped it out. It just gives me this wicked headache anymore when I drink:(.

Today I did Horizontal Conditioning volume 1. It's amazing how I sweat doing those since they aren't really true cardio, and yet my heart rate is way up there. I really like how they work my arms with the body weight moves and pushups. Good stuff! Tomorrow I'm hoping to get Trisets in but it may not happen. I might have to go to my parents and grill but it's not set in stone yet. We always have to wait until right before we take off to make sure the plan is still on with my mom.

Can not wait to try the Tabata in Cathe's new workouts...I'm really excited to try that move where they described her as being quiet and out of breath!

Have a good night ladies!

Happy Father's Day to all the dad's and hubbies :)

Just a quickie post...

Today's w/o will be a hard, kick-butt cardio, so HE hi/lo intervals or Intensity .

I'm not sure what's on Mark's agenda today. It's "his" day, so I'm leaving it up to him to decide.

The weather has been beautiful here. Hot, sunny, humid. My kind of summer .

Colleen
I'm the same way w/alcohol. Actually, I've always been a "cheap drunk" lol.
I get the same heart pounding workout with TBL Weight Loss Yoga. All those plank positions really work me hard .
Jen
Your chili sounded awesome! For some reason though, I can't eat soup/chili in the summer .
Just to clarify, you are doing other strength workouts (HR, LBB) in addition to STS?

Have a good one ladies! :)

Hello Friends.
Yes, I made the mistake of doing HR last night when I should have done cardio. It was hard and I was burned out during the workout. Not cool especially with STS.
My chili was awesome. Texas chili is made for hot weather, it bought my body temp up so I was no longer hot. It's like eating ice cream in the winter, it adjusts your internal temp.
Natty-Your idea of workout is better than mine. Yes, it is Dad's day today. Hot and humid here too but with rain finally.
Colleen-If I hadn't drank in awhile, one glass will put me under. The caloric count with beer is not worth it, wine is better though.

Excited for those workouts but NEED to be done with cycle 2 though.

Have a Great Day and Happy Fathers Day!!

JT

Hello everybody!

Oh guys I miss reading your posts so much. I've had the busiest days ever, spent even some nights out because of working very far from home...Stayed away from my little one for the first time since he was born made me feel so miserable! No time for working out either, last week I did my worst personal record ever. did Cathe only twice in a whole week :( :(
I miss my "me & Cathe time" so much that I can't tell you, including in this Cathe time also the time I spent reading the forum!:D

Natty : We seem to have come to a period of settlment with tremors, but every now and then we have some aftershocks. Lot of people lost their lives, houses, jobs...everything and I feel like beng saved by a miracle because it happened so close to me! The shocking thing is that this area has been always thought to be safe and not prone to earthquakes, this is why we were not prepared to this.
And about Euro cup, sre I'm following it, but with great disappointment: since the WC in 2006, when Italy won, we haven't been able to come up with a good team, we had many scandals about soccer players involved in gambling, fixed matches and so on... they're too busy in court to keep their focus on the ball...;)

Sarah. oh my! I read about your adventure in court...what a terrible story, it gave me goose pimples! No no, too scary, I'm happy for you you're out of it, I would have become too stressed about that! How about your kids? And your parents? Are you all well?

Colleen. I've seen the pics od Lydia dressed up like a ballerina...How CUTE she was! You must have been very proud of her!
Slow moving yoga is not for me either, it makes me impatient...I should google this Ellen Barrett or TBL weight loss yoga, as Natty suggested..I do feel the need of doing some good stretching every now and then but if I don't go up with my heart rate I feel like I'm wasting time and not working out properly..Something must be wrong with me

JT. I'm so happy for your blogging activity! It can be a good way to study internet market and give you new opportunities for your career. I'm so sorry to hear about people over 40 being fired...It's been the same here in Italy, many many workers lost their jobs and are still unemployed after a year or more, some of them have committed suicide...This crisis is destroying more people and lives than what we can think of. I hope the future will be more happy for many of us, if not for everyone, and I hope this will happen pretty soon!

Enough talk for today, hope to be back to normalcy soon and complete all my travels soon..In the meantime you guys keep up the good work, you rock girls and are my best source of inspiration!
have a great Sunday everyone!

Ellie
I am so sorry to hear about how the earthquake devastated so many lives. How sad and traumatic. All the while, I am very glad you and your family are safe and doing well.
I feel so bad about you having to work far away from home and leaving your little guy (and Cathe workouts) behind. We all go through periods during our life when things are so difficult and hard to endure. Last year was a year from hell for me. Very stressful and hectic. But we stay strong and pull through, and those "hard times" will pass and normalcy will come back to your life. If anything, challenging life experiences toughen us up and prepare us for any obstacle. Stay strong and don't be so hard on yourself. Take care and I hope to talk to you again soon :).
BTW, I had no idea about the Italy soccer team scandals . I always tell my aunt they need to totally re-vamp the entire team and get all new, young, fresh players. She just laughs and says I have no idea what I'm talking about. Ha, ha, now I know I'm right ;).

I did Hardcore Extreme High/low Intervals today . Totally knocked it out of the park . No modifications, no extra breaks. 70min of intense cardio at it's best. I think going from 3 cardio days to 2 cardio days was a good idea. STS is wearing me down (in a good way of course :D). I'm impressed with my arms. I can see the V-line coming through nicely :D.

Have a great day folks!

Quick post as I need to quick get Hiit 40/20 in today. :)

Holy moley, Natty! Your cardio endurance never ceases to impress me! I find I just don't have the endurance for intense cardio that goes that long. I poop out around 60 minutes and if it's really intense, even sooner than that! I think that's why I like the Hiits, AB, Amy Dixon's Breathless Bodies, CCC, (even before I had the rebounder I enjoyed that one, although it was harder on my knees back then), etc. I actually love going all out and raising my heart rate to near maximum and then letting off the gas pedal for a bit so my HR comes down before going again. I seem to be able to do those more easily than other tough steady state cardio that goes on and on. Must be something in my physiology?

It's definitely good that you noticed how you were feeling and adjusted to two cardio days. STS is so sneaky in it's intensity! I never would realize how hard I was working until after the fact! I'm such a hard gainer with muscle...it seemed like it took everything in my body to get that muscle to build! Are you taking in extra quality calories to help with that, too? Also sleep...lots of sleep! lol

Jen- I love chili! I make big pots of it and freeze portions for later. It's perfect when you can pull out dinner from the freezer on nights when you just can't bring yourself to cook!

Ellie- I feel so bad for you about the travel and being away from your little one! I used to have to travel a lot when I did a lot of fill in for other doctors around the state (I did it for extra money as my store was so freaking slow). Totally for the birds!;) I'm definitely not doing that anymore!
Thank goodness the earthquakes haven't done damage to you or your family! So scary!:(

Okay, okay I gotta go before I run out of time! Later girls!
