We're In This Together **JUNE**

Hello Friends.
Yay, it's Saturday!! Going to be a hot one. Last night, I did AT. I think it's the best out of LIS cause it's so varied then the step workout. Also, last night, I treated myself to Tim Horton's with 6 Honey dipped timbits, 60 calories each, per Lose It! Yesterday morning, I had some errands and stopped at a garage sale. This lady had all kinds of homebaked goodies and I had to told her "No." She stated I was the only one and I told her my calorie counter app would blow up with it. She then told me that Dr. Richard Besser had a report that people are losing weight or maintaining weight using them.

My internship starts next week, not clear if it will be paid or not. The person whom requested it is from my old program. I believe she is an alchoholic and was drinking prior to us going out for a bit last night. She acted drunk over Chardonney. Plus, a few months ago, I saw her buying hard liquor and stopping on the way home for her to get it.
A friend/former classmate/old neighbor lost her business due to internships and her home.

Slimnastics is on my Lose It! app and so I googled it. Many definations for it so I count it as Cathe for a more accurate count of calories.

Colleen-Hope you are feeling better. It's hard to workout with less sleep and it's a bummer not to stay on schedule. Do you have STS abs? Still need to check out those workouts and VF.

Sarah-Good for you for doing Cycle Max!! I'm not using my spin bike as much as I should. Hope you like My Fitness Pal. My provider now has a paid and a free version of it.

Natty-LOVE Low Impact Challenge!! Do you have Whole Foods Stores by you? or Trader Joe's? Any word on your plates? Where are they coming from?

Hope you all have a great day! Hot here already.

Happy weekend :)

Had a change in plans yesterday. My aunt and cousin came over and we ended up going to Fairy Lake (the really nice park/trail in Newmarket I mentioned before). Runners, bikers, roller-bladers, walkers, all out and about in full force. It makes me smile when I see all the seniors being so active. Ahhh, I wish I lived there. It's just too darn expensive to buy/rent in that city :(. Treated myself to a warm cinnamon bun w/icing :p. It's truly heaven on a plate ;).

Today's workout was D13 (chest, shoulder's, tri's). Whew! What a workout! My arms are feelin' pretty Jello-y right now . It's TTOTM for me and although I'm naturally always tired during this time, I think I pushed pretty hard within my limits. I never compromise good form and I avoid using momentum at all costs, but I do like to challenge myself .

I've found a new love...Quinoa! I made a big batch which lasts for up to 5 days in the fridge and I've been eating it daily. It's pretty yummy for breakfast w/almond butter, banana's, and some protein powder :p.

Yup, Mark is in full swing at the gym again. Damn guy, only one week and I can already see the muscles building . Why can't chicks get that way . Damn testosterone.

EURO CUP
.
VIVA ITALIA!!!!

Colleen
I'm sorry to hear about the insomnia :(. I feel you buddy. I hope you and Lydia are feeling better today. Sometimes it's just a slight 24hr bug/flu, nothing serious or long-lasting.
I hope you have fun w/your new DVD's! You're right, they probably would not interest me because of all the plank poses. Come to think of it, I did plank related stuff for 2 years before I found Cathe (Bob & Jillian). I guess I just did them too often and got sick of em'.
Jen
Timbits are great. I can eat a whole 10pk box, they're sooo good :p. It was awesome you showed restraint, even at the bake sale.
It's sad to hear about your friend being an alcoholic. I've known several in my life and they truly need to get help, along with the will and determination to change. My heart goes out to anyone with an addiction.
Great job on AT. I agree, it is the "gem" of the LIS.
Sarah
OMG, what is wrong with this forum and losing all your written stuff!! That has happened so many times to me . One wrong move and that's it! Gone forever :(. Perhaps this needs to be addressed to SNM.
Funny you mentioned boy shorts, those look absolutely HORRID on me! Not flattering for a pear-shaped I'll tell you that much! [insert yuck, throw-up face here]. I'm sorry you got bummed out about it :(. Honestly, I find a little skirt very helpful in concealing "trouble spots". I never go without one :).
Great job on CycleMax! You are a champ for not giving up on it! Spinning, from what I heard, can be very discouraging, so kuddos!

Ok guys, long one over here, sorry ;). Have a great weekend

Nat - You made me laugh with the [insert yuck, throw-up face here]. I will keep trying with the bathing suit thing. I do the same with quinoa, make a big batch and use it usually with my lunch as carbs. When I furst started making it I didn't know I was suppose to rinse it really really good and consequently thought it was bitter. But now that I know how to cook it, love it. I just love the texture, very satisfying. I usually do have a little skirt as well.

Colleen - Sorry your not on your A game. It'd nice to know that their are other people out there that need more than 6 hours of sleep a night. I prefer 8-10, even an occassionally 12 :p. I one of those people than can usually go to sleep whenever. I read Cathe's comments on STS Disc 1, it was cute. Thanks.

Jen - Getting paid or not is indof a big deal not to know, isn't it? Our weather has been quit cold around here, as a matter of fact I still have flannel sheets on the bed.

Yesterday I felt like going astray from the rotation again. I did Lomax, and enjoyed it. Today I will do High Reps and a walk and be done with the rotation. I will also be getting ready to have a garage sale this weekend to have hopefully next weekend if the weather will be half way decent.

I did ended up making my own rotation of sorts, starting Monday. I used Cathe's rotation for a fitness pyramid. Inserting running and spinning in place of the cardio. The first week is endurance weights, 2nd week Pyramid weights, 3rd week gym style weights, 4th week STS Meso 3 weights. ALthough I think I had to change the pyramid style weights. It was suppose to be Slow and Heavy but I don't have that one. Speaking of which I don't have Push and Pull and can remember on FitTV really liking that one. Have you guys done a Push and Pull?

Sarah

Hello Friends.
Quiet day today. Not much happened. Went for a walk.

In regards to internships, the Department of Labor is investigating the "free-labor" concept and the legalities of it plus how many US jobs it is costing. I've done two internships in the past, unpaid, and doing another may not be worth putting on my resume. With my program, it was a requirement. Gives me something to blog about. There are good and bad points of interning but gainful employment is always better.

Never heard from my friend, whom I strongly believe she's an alchoholic, after ringing her mobile at least 6 times and sending email with no response today. We were to shop today for a business trip for her. In my mind, she was drunk when she called me on the phone last night then the wine, which she normally doesn't drink, put her into a drunken stupor. Plus, she is in charge of my internship next week. I was promised the information Friday, Friday it was promised Sunday night.

Hoping to workout Sunday night with the A/C on. It might be Intensity or Athletic Step.

Have a Great Night!!!

OMG, today was my original move date to DFW. If job market doesn't improve, I will be going mid-September.

Happy Sunday ladies :)

DOMS is hittin' hard today! Chest, shoulder's, tri's, all sore as heck! Hypertrophy, give me some nice muscles baby .

So yesterday my mother and sis came over. Their visits always ensure something bad is going to happen. Anyway, my mother brings over some take-out dinner of greasy, fatty food: ponzerotti, fried chicken, noodles, fries, Portuguese pastries. So she went to 4 different restaurants to get this stuff . I'm all for indulging, but that was just going overboard. Of course, I ate a little of everything. I'm not that rude when guests bring over food. I appreciate the gesture, I really do. My mother eats copious amounts of the food and then I have to hear her complain of a stomach ache and how she is getting "fat" again. Ummm ok . Fast forward 1 hour later and I'm watching YouTube video's with my sis in the computer room. Izabella is very quiet, and so I have a feeling she is "into" something and go investigate. Don't I see her putting her hands in the Sea Monkey tank and squishing the little fish, WITH MY MOTHER BESIDE HER!!! I freaked out and lost my temper (which I regret doing). I just could not help myself. My mother claims she had no idea there was little fish in the tank. Anyway, they died of course :(. 7:30pm I put that kid in bed and went to do 4DS High Intensity Step. It felt good to blast some calories and blow off some steam.

That's my entertaining story for the week. Hope you all enjoyed it :D.

BBL! Going grocery shopping :).

I forgot to check in yesterday!
I actually felt better after getting some sleep yesterday and I wound up doing my Horizontal Conditioning volume 2 dvd. I'm going to try and fit the leg STS disc in Monday as I want to do Paul Katami today (Burn and Build!:D). The HD disc was a lot tougher than it looked on preview! My whole ab area is sore...yay! I defintely felt some wrist fatigue doing the planks though so I need to figure out how to modify some of those exercises and use my push up bars. I often use those for burpees and mountain climbers as well as any walking or draggin planks in Cathe's LIS and it really helps with wrist strain.

Natty I'm sorry so about the sea monkeys! My roomate in optometry school got some of those just for the heck of it...she was always doing silly stuff like that :p, and they were pretty entertaining. I totally get the frustrating mother daughter relationship, believe me! Going ridiculously over board is something my own mother does a lot. There is no such thing as moderation in her mind unfortunately :(. Exercise is so wonderful for blowing off the tension that builds up when dealing with situations like that! Thank goodness for endorphins!:D

I'm sorry about your friend too Jen! Unfortunately I have dealt with several alcoholics and even drug abusers in my life...not fun. Addiction is the most frustrating and infuriating thing to deal with. The self-destructiveness involved isn't something I've ever been able to comprehend so I tend to not be the most understanding or sympathetic unfortunately. On an intellectual level I can understand their struggle but on an emotional level I'm like "come on! Straighten up already!" Is there anyone else you can go to about the internship to sort of get around her?

Sarah- Ah sleep!! Yes, I definitely need more than 6 hours! I can function on 8, do better on 9 and if I can get 10 I take it! I love the Supersets and Push/Pull dvd! It's not too tough, but nice and basic weightlifting. Sometimes that's all you really want, you know? I don't use it too often but it's a really nice one to have in the collection. I really like the push pull aspect because she allows less rest time (since you are working antagonistic muscle groups) and the workout is shorter...I think like 45 minutes?

Okay, better get moving here. TTYL!

I'm sorry about your sea monkeys Nat. Most of all I'm sorry that you regret how you handled it. I just had one of those days as well on Thursday. I don't hit my kids because I just think most of the time it makes thing get more heated. But the other day my daughter hit me and I hit her back. I still regret it because it went even more downhill from there. Not proud of myself and not proud that my daughter thought she could hit me. Motherhood is learning, learning about how to handle yourself and your kids. Just have to remember those wonderful times during those that are tough. Don't be to hard on yourself though, I would have been shocked walking in on that too with your mother there overseeing the whole thing. By the way, I had forgot to tell you, that I had heard of Sea Monkeys from my hubby's old comics from the 70's-80's.

Colleen - Glad to hear your feeling better, that your actually felt good enough to do your new DVD. Jealous you got DOMS. No matter what I do anymore I'm not getting them. I would of thought jogging yesterday 6 miles I would have felt something other than being just tired.

Jen- I hope things are getting figured out with the intership. It's crazy how up in the air things are for you. I'm liking fitness pal, but wish more of the food went by weight rather than a measurement. I just think it's alot more accurate by weight. I ate dates yesterday, cause I just love those little suckers, but boy oh boy, they sent my sugar consumption for the day into the red. 1 date has 60 calories. Who Knew??

Yesterday I changed my mind and went on a 6 mile slow jog. Today my legs just feel plain old tired. So I'm glad it's my rest day!

Sarah

Hello Friends.
Happy Monday!! I finally heard from my friend last night about 6pmEST, she said someting that she hasn't drank in a long time and the two glasses of wine hit her hard. It would, if prior, you had a pint of hard whiskey. With the internship, this in itself is not worth it. She needs help or it will cost her a job and it has many friends/supporters.
Today is job hunt day. It is becoming clear that I will problably move to get a job. My parents are "suggesting" the Carolinas because its 8 hours away and not 12 like Dallas, not an area I'm interested in. The whole family is getting involved in "fixing" my job problem. Yippee. Had to go thru my FB list last night to find out whom lives there.
Today is disc 13, meso cycle 2 and maybe high reps on my off day.

Sarah-Motherhood is never easy, the toughest jobs out there but the most rewarding. Growing up in Detroit, many families easily had up to 18 kids. Discplining that many. Although back then, kids knew not to mess with the parents.

Colleen-Please let us know how the workouts went. HC sounds tough. Doing these in the heat make them tougher, I think.

Natty-Sorry to hear about the sea monkeys. I didn't think they actually existed. Yes, when children are too quiet, there is something brewing. All that food sounds good and bad. Hope you have a better day.

Natty-that coaster looks scary. I would do it if I was in the first two rows only. Have Fun!!!

Whoo hoo the new workouts are coming the new workouts are coming!!!:eek::D

I managed to finally get my STS leg disc in! I forgot how much I loved that first STS leg disc. So much variety and I was sweating tons!:D As for Horizontal Conditioning...day two of ab doms! It's enough to make me want to buy the other volumes and the bootcamp! They are waiting in my cart at TotalFitness as we speak.... I do find extended plank work tough on my wrists so I try to use my push up bars as much as possible. It's not always convenient to do that during the HC workouts but sometimes she uses the step as a prop so I find when I have my hands on the edge of the step it's easier on the wrists than when they are fully flexed flat on the step or floor. I think I'm going to try and do these workouts once or twice a week and see how my core looks after a month or two. That is, of course, if I can find a way to fit them in!!

Have fun at the park Natty! I used to love roller coasters but I've gotten to be such a wimpy weenie as I've gotten older! I tend to avoid anything scary or daredevilish anymore!

Jen- do you have family in North Carolina? My girlfriend lives in Charlotte and it sounds like the economy is doing really well there and it's a growing city. I'm not so sure about South Carolina...I never hear much about that state except around election time.

Sarah- I'm scared of teenage time. I wish I could just freeze the kids at this age! Diapers are over and mostly the tantrums too. There isn't too much drama...just fun! I have a very strong feeling Lydia is going to be testing my limits someday:confused:. I hope I'm wrong about that but my instincts are usually right on...

Have a great day ladies!

Hello Friends.
Colleen-congrats on getting your workouts in. Love the STS Plyo Legs, killer though. No family in NC but they spent massive amounts of time at Duke for medical treatments.

My life is never boring. My former supervisor/friend called me to tell me that she ran into the ops manager from my old job. People are quitting like crazy or getting canned. This person slammed me totally to her plus a few others. We discussed it's part of the reason why that business would never be number one in the City for what it does.
Yep, got two emails from my supposive internship too. I was told she had to "regroup" from the alchohol. Hope to hear soon.
Plus I posted for a job and told them about my blog in my cover letter plus I posted for the exact same position with the State almost one year ago.
As I said, never boring.....

Good morning ladies :)

I was typing my responses yesterday and BAM! All my stuff erased . That really peeves me off .

Yesterday's outing went very well. It was hot, sunny, sweaty...and packed full of kids! I thought school was still on . Did you guys have PTA days yesterday? Lots of US license plates. The wait times were 1+ hours long for all the big coasters, so no Laviathan for me :D. When I was younger, I didn't mind waiting in those horrendous lines, watching all the kids make-out and act like total fools (LOL, I think I was one of those kids ). Now, I have no desire to go through all that waiting for a 3min ride. All that foreplay does not justify the end result ;). Anyway, Bella proves to be a dare-devil, going on all the kiddie rides without hesitation. I was so proud of her :). We met up with my cousin who also has a son only 6 months older than Bella. He was born with Leukemia and is in remission now, doing very well. Those doctors at Sick Kids Hospital are miracle workers.

EXCITED for the new workouts! I see high impact/low impact in there, which makes me very :D. I've decided to shorten my cardio this week to 2 hiit workouts only. Change things up a bit .

Jen
I'm sorry to hear about your family/friends trying to "fix" your unemployment situation. At the end of the day it's your life, you have to do what's best for you.
I hope your friend realizes she has an addiction and seeks helps. Alcoholism is sad and very serious :(.
Your life does indeed seem to be full of "turning points". I'm positive things will turn out for the best :).
Colleen
Those HC workouts seem very intense . I'm glad you loved em'! You are a total rock star with your workouts .
I'm glad to see you and Lydia are feeling better :).
10 hrs sleep??!! Really?? I'm lucky if I can even get 8 nowadays :(.
Sarah
I'm sorry to hear about the situation with you and your daughter. I understand completely about how you handled it. Kids know how to push those buttons. I remember my mom and I got into a physical altercation when I was around 17 yrs old. We've always been like oil and water unfortunately. Your totally right about how motherhood is all about learning. Don't be so hard on yourself. You live, you learn, you move on.

Have a great day everyone :)

Good Morning Natty.
Sounds like you had fun at the park. No PTA day here, most of the schools are out in the US. Some parks here offer special lines if you pay extra for a special pass like Cedar Point and Disney. Cool to hear your nephew is in remission. Bella would get along great with Morgan, she's a daredevil too. She started downhill skiing last year.

Because of my blogging, it has opened doors for me for social media stragety types of jobs with my internships from the program.
This coming Sunday will be a family event, because it's a nephew's birthday, the fix for my life will be limited. Yes, I need to what is best for me.
Addictions are serious, her family knows about it and not doing anything, I'm sure.
It will ulitimately affect this opportunity she has.

Yes, TRULY excited for the workouts!! Going to disc 14 tonight, I would like to be on my recovery week for cycle 2 when they come out plus do some high impact stuff prior.

Peace Out and Have a Great Day!!

I did Volume 4 of Horizontal Conditioning today. Hoooollllyyyy Craaaaap!! It's going to take me a long time to get proficient at that workout. Those are some crazy ball exercises she has you doing! I have to confess...I wound up ordering the other two volumes and the bootcamp yesterday. Okay, okay I swear I'm done buying new workouts until the end of summer! I'm putting myself on a freeze until fall. These past 4 months have not been kind to the old checkbook. I decided today I'm going to make Tuesdays my HC day for the next few months. I would love to work in another day but I have so many other workouts to get to!

I think after we get back from Disney and the new workouts are here I'm going to set aside STS for a bit. I kind of sketched out a rotation of sorts. It's sort of another concept rotation where I won't be locked into specific workouts but I'm going to give myself a little structure. What do you guys think?:

Sun: Circuit workout (like To the Max, AT, Drill Max or one of my other ones)
Mon: rest
Tue: Horizontal Conditioning (one of the volumes or the bootcamp)
Wed: Hiit or cardio (like CrossFire, AB or the Hiit dvd, maybe CCC or CSS)
Thu: Total Body Strength (like High Reps, STS total body or Trisets)
Fri: Kettlebell workout (cardio based- like Bob's or kettlebell kickboxing)
Sat: Lower body focused (like LBB, B&G or Plyo legs)

I'm thinking of doing this for 6 weeks then taking a rest/yoga week. What do you guys think? Am I crazy??? Now that I've spelled it out I'm going to have to be accountable!

How are you doing with STS Natty and Jen? What do you think of Meso 2? Have you done the Meso 2 week 2 leg disc yet Natty? I found my DOMS were way less the second week.

Natty- I hear you on the frustrating of waiting an hour for a 3 minute ride! I have a feeling Disney will be just like that. I haven't been to any parks in so long! We're getting really excited to go!:D

Jen- yay! The internship is on track. That's great! Congrats!:)

Gotta finish lunch. TTYL ladies!

I love rides and the more wild the better. But an hour wait is a long time. If it was my only chance to go, I'd wait. An hour of wait time, or foreplay, is about right for me. ;) Some kids love rides others won't touch them with a 10ft pole. My daughters like them but they do get motion sick. I will let them do any of them but always wonder if there will be puking in the future. My son is like me , iron stomachs. I cannot imagine having to go through something like your cousin and her son went through. Strong, strong people.

Yesterday was bootcamp, today Cyclemax. Tomorrow High Reps.

Glad to hear your internship in a go Jen. You just keep blogging away.

Love the rotation you came up with Colleen. I think you did really good. So when is Disney? You'll have to let me koow which of the HC is your top pick once you've done them all.

So excited to have 2 new Cathe's soon. Maybe then I will get some DOMS.

Sarah
