Weights 'required' in GS, or 4DS?

Hello!

I'm new to this forum, as well as to Cathe. I'm just about to order either the GS series and Core Max, or 4DS. I'm currently doing Jari Love, and have been for about a year. I use anywhere from 5-12lbs in that series.

What I'm wondering is what weights are 'necessary' to start with either of the Cathe series listed above? I realize that it's all different, depending on the invididual, but I'm wondering if I have to go out and get many more weights, or if what I have is (almost?) sufficient? How heavy is heavy when it comes to Cathe?

Thank you!

Cathe does some pretty heavy weights in some DVDs and not so much in others - depends on what you are looking for. I think it depends on what you are looking for as to which series you choose. I use Jari Love's DVDs too sometimes and I would say that she probably does slightly less than Cathe, but you know what your strength is so just stick with that. It will also depend on if you have a barbell or not as to how much weight you will need. If I were you, I would get at least 15lb dumbells for now if you don't already have them, no matter which series you choose. And FYI - I have Ab Hits as well as Core Max. Ab Hits has a lot more options and shorter but very effective routines. They are from older workouts and are more traditional. I'm glad I have both, but reach for Ab Hits more often. I don't know if you are trying to make a decision b/w GS and 4DS or not, but GS is great - very hard work, very effective, no cardio other than what you work with the lifting, and you will be huffing and puffing from that! 4DS has a bit of cardio included.

You might want to get the workouts and try them first. I have weights from 4 pounds to 25 pounds and a barbell that goes up to 60 pounds.

I use up to 25 pounds for both workouts and could probably go a little heavier on some moves so I need to go out and get some 30's. I would think you might need 15 pounds maybe for back or chest work but you would know best. For lower body, I usually go up to 45 pounds but could probably go a little heavier at times.

You will enjoy both of these workouts.
