!!!!!! Weightloss Challenge - Oct 12th

This morning was a 42 mile ride followed by Power Hour abs and stretch. Friday was STS and abs and BC upper body only. Hopefully it won't be too chilly for another ride in the morning. It sounds like we'll be stuck inside for a portion of the up coming week.

Sue, I'm so eager to hear what you think of STS. I hope you fall in love with it like I have. Did you download squat rack legs or plyo legs? Do you have the STS guide book?

They moved trick or treat to tomorrow night, so I will be ending my ban on Halloween candy. Last year we had that freak storm that left us without power for days and we ended up gorging on a giant bowl of KitKat bars from lack of treater's. I still can't stand the sight of KitKat's, so that is what I'm stocking up with this year.

Short bike ride in the wind and drizzle this morning. Going to try and get STS done tomorrow morning, just in case we lose power. I have had so much halloween candy tonight.

I hope you all had more willpower than me! : )

Hello ladies :). I hope all is well! Tina nice 42 miles yesterday! Pardon all the exclamation marks but I feel like a kid on Christmas eve! Starting STS tomorrow! Mostly excited until I think about the pushups :). I thought I had all my 1RM done but just printed out the sheet for tomorrow and I missed 2 of them so I'll be guesstimating those. I've set out all my initial weights, should be able to get going first thing in the morning.

Everyone on the east coast take care, I'm not sure who's in the path of the storm. xoxo

Good morning! Tina - how are you doing? Are you getting blasted by the storm yet?

I don't think we're going to get much impact here in Montreal - they are just predicting heavy winds, but that's it.

Sue - have a great time with STS. You're going to love it, once you get used to the pace especially in Meso 1. It gets easier in Mesos 2 & 3 because the breaks are longer.

This weekend was great - I had an 18 km run on Friday, followed by CTX Upper Body Split, then on Saturday I did HiiT Pyramid followed by STS Plyo Legs 26 and yesterday was High Step Challenge. I felt a good burn in my biceps after that one!

Today is my rest day, and I am taking it!! I just worked out 6 days in a row, so I figure I need to give my body some rest.

My husband came home last night with some candy (fruit-filled Twizzlers, which I really like), but I stayed away from them. I know that I can't just eat one, and that I would most likely eat the whole package. So I'm proud of myself for choosing to eat a healthier sweet. My husband was disappointed that I didn't want them, but I'm not eating candy just to make him feel better!

ouch! STS D1 done!

I'm toast right now, will post more tomorrow. I resorted to knee and table pushups. Lots of room to improve. Some of my weights were too heavy, oddly they were never too light! Previewed D2 and realized I don't have a chin/pull up plan in place. I'm not going to stress about it, just do my best with what I have. Tootsie rolls are mocking me but I haven't caved. Please don't let a payday cross my path

I hope you ladies are faboo!!!!!

Good morning!

Sue - you sound really happy after completing the first STS disk - that's great! Why not just use a band/tube for the chin-ups/pull-ups? I can't remember exactly (maybe Tina can) but I think there is a demonstration of Cedie using the band.

Tina - are you ok? It was really scary watching the news last night and seeing the strength of Sandy. Wow... I know you're on the east coast, so I hope you and your family are safe and sound.

This morning was High Step Training. The tricep work in this one is tough. I forgot about those one-arm dips with one leg extended - ouchy!!

I'm feeling really good with my diet, and seeing some improvements in the way my clothes are fitting me. There are a couple of dresses that I REALLY want to be able to wear again, but I think I'm going to have to get down another 8 - 10 pounds before they'll fit properly again. Still working on that belly pooch!!

Hey, Yall. I got in my 40min Firm Shape and Burn. Man that workout packs a whallop. It's my go to when I'm short on time. Tomorrow I hope to get in a good step workout - Intensity.

How are the east-coasters doing today? Man, Sandy just showing out!

Tina, great job on that bike ride and stay away from the candy!

Sue, i hope you enjoy STS. I never purchased that one.

Mel, that's hilarious about not having candy just to make DH feel good. That cracks me up. And I like to try on outfit that don't fit. It gives me inspiration.

Thanks for checking in on me guys! We're doing fine, just minor coastal damage in NH and some power outages. I feel so bad for everyone south of us, what a mess. : (

Today was Kickbox Surge and yesterday was M1D10 and STS med ball abs. Next week will be a rest week from weights, I can't believe how fast this month went by. Sue, your first STS workout sounds positive. When I was powering through all those pushups yesterday, I thought of you. Some days they're not so hard and other days I shake on most of them. Yesterday was a shake day.

I just ate the last mini Almond Joy, so back to NO CANDY rule for me. : )

I'm so sore today! Wow, computer work was very uncomfortable. Today was hiit 30/30 minus the thrust part of squat thrust jump, I didn't have it in me. also a 3 mile walk/jog after dinner. My endorphins are flowing :)

Melanie congrats on saying no to the candy! You'll be in those dresses soon, I just know it!

Shereta have a great time w intensity, I should dust that one off soon and give it another whirl :)

Tina I'm so glad that big bad storm passed you by. I can't wait to be able to power through pushups, I added them up and D1 has 136! Each round I could do 2-3 on my toes then had to drop to knees, and table top for the longer sets. what are you going to do on your rest week?

'night ladies!

Hey, Intensity was good this morning. I've lost my Cathe endurance. How come I can run for 90 minutes, but begin dying with Cathe cardio after 30 minutes? Will work on getting back to hour long cardio. Tomorrow should be High reps

I hope you all had a nice Halloween! Sullen kids at my door, I had to pull a "trick or treat" out of many of them! Today was STS D2 back/tri. I skipped the chin/pull ups, gonna have to do some shopping to make those possible. The side push ups felt weird but I was able to do about half of them. I officially prefer weights to cardio! I'm weighing in in the morning, not expecting anything stunning on the scale. A full size snicker bar was put in front of me today and I declined, so proud of myself. Had it been an ice cream bar things would have been different :)

Shereta you'll get your endurance back toute de suite! Waves to Tina & Melanie!

Morning ladies -

Sue - that's great self-control to say no to the chocolate bar. Its just not worth it!!

Yesterday was Rhythmic Step. I upped the platform to 8 inches and put some air in the moves where Cathe keeps it low. I wanted to up my calorie burn.

This morning was Circuit Blast and tonight I want to do Hiit 30/30.

Nothing too exciting to share, so I'm off for now.

Have a great day!

Today was the last cancer treatment for my mom. All I can say is, thank God this year is almost over. Life can return to normal, phew!

No workout this morning, I'll squeeze it in later tonight. Yesterday was a mega leg marathon. STS legs, disc 12 and L & G and BC upper and lower wgts only. I gained 3 pounds from the Sunday candy binge, so yesterday was my calorie burn (hopefully).

Sue, it sounds like your enjoying STS. Way to jump right in! Pretty soon those push up will be easy for you. I'm on my third STS rotation and I still can't squeek out a full tricep push up. That's my goal this round.

We're having a nice lunch for mom, so I'll have to find a real calorie burner for later. Hope you all have a great day. : )

Hey Tina! That's great news about your mom. I hope she will be healthy for a long time. Did you have a nice celebration lunch?

So I've been using myfitnesspal now for a few weeks and I really like it.

In calculating how many calories I should be eating to lose weight, it says that I need to eat 1200 calories per day, plus eat back any calories I burn through exercise. On the days I don't workout I find it really hard to only eat 1200 calories. That seems pretty low to me. What do you guys think? I don't want to mess up my metabolism by not eating enough...By the way, in calculating my TDEE, I indicated that my activity level is light (because most days I'm sitting at a desk, and besides working out, walking on my lunch breaks, walking the dog, housework etc., I'm not terribly active).

Today was a walk/run, tomorrow will be STS D3, legs, looking forward to my 1st legs workout because no pushups! I lost 1.5 pounds last month, yay! Pretty amazing since I didn't count calories and ate whenever I was hungry. I'm not as hungry as I've been in the past and my snacking has decreased.

Melanie, I'm pretty versed in calorie counting and the BMR, TDEE, etc can get confusing. First thing to remember is to not restrict your calories too much. I've seen 1000 and 1200 listed as the absolute minimum calories that a woman should get each day. If you want to do the daily calculation, then adding in more food to match your exercise for the day can work. I do better with having a set calorie limit and not doing any extra calculations.

My suggestion is to bump your settings from sedentary to active. You work out almost every day if memory serves. That's not sedentary. Redo your calculations and I'll bet you come out at 1400-1500/day, maybe even more. Much more doable. I remember being tired and skipping workouts when trying to maintain 1200ish calories a day.

BTW, good job on raising your step! Did you get 30/30 done tonight? I can't wait to master that one. Not sure if I should go to DWP or 40/20 as the next challenge.

Tina I hope your mom has a good prognosis! Have you been accompanying her for the treatments? I've had a few loved ones diagnosed with various cancers and that's probably the biggest thing that has prompted me to clean up my nutrition. Maybe it's my attempt to exert control in a chaotic world?

I'm not familiar with all the workouts you've mentioned lately. Are you doing STS + extra weight workouts? Or are you doing a cardio on weight days? Seems like a lot, super-woman!

Shereta how's the paleo coming? Did you get high reps in today?

Here's hoping we all have a wonderful Friday :)

Hey, Yall. Friday's rest day. Yeah. Trail run should be tomorrow.

Yes, Sue, I'm hoping to get my endurance back up soon. Good job on decline the snickers. that's my absolute fav.

Melanie, you are my hero. I used to workout like that I just loved. I don't envy you, I'm just happy for you! When I do one of those calorie counters, it always tells me 2600 to maintain cause I'm up and down all day. And then it says to subtract 500 to loose and don't eat calories burned thru exercise. So, yes, 1200 does seem low.

Tina, Yeah for your mom.

Sue, yes I did High reps. Love that workout. It's fun. Paleo is not going well. It's just not feasible to eat that way with my busy lifestyle. I do understand it tho. The book says you eat that way most of the time and still see results. And that has been true for me. I'm still drinking coffee without cream and artificial sweetner and my sweet cravings have decreased dramatically. I dont crave ice cream, candy bars or even sugared coffee anymore. I love, love, love that.

Today was STS M1D11 and 40/20. I ended up taking yesterday off and just did a 2 mile walk. Tomorrow and Sunday are hopefully ride days. I need 582 more miles to make my 3000 mile goal by the end of the year. All the extra kickboxing ate into bike time this summer.

Melanie, I'm with Sue and Shereta. I think you should change your activity level a few notches. You're always doing extra workouts. 1200 calories would put me in cranky town!

Sue, how did you like STS legs? I love the bonus sections at the end. I continue to add the bonus sections in meso 2 and 3 legs too. I can't wait for you to try plyo legs, it's a blast!

This week is cardio and I just rec'd notice that Susan Chung's Rapid Fire 3 kickboxing workout should be here on Monday. Talk about perfect timing, I love getting new material!

I hope you all have a great weekend. : )
