Weighted Vest?

Due to a shoulder injury, I cannot use a loaded barbell. I am considering getting a weighted vest to use when doing legs. Probably up to 20 pounds. I would then hold 20 pound barbells in each hand.

I would appreciate any insights or recommendations.

Thanks in advance.

Walmart has one from GOld's Gym for $50. It can go all the way up to 20 pounds. It is one size fits most. Fits my husband, my son and myself with no problems.

this is something i am considering b/c for one i just can't lift any heavier over my head safely to put on my shoulders. and i don't have room/funds for a squat rack to up my weights. i figure this was a good way to still get that extra weight. i plan on purchasing one from play it again sports(around summer maybe) b/c they are nice enough let me try it on b/c while one size fits all might fit most of the majority sometimes smaller/bigger then average folks might need more of a custom fit. i am a somewhat smaller person on top but i have a large chest so i might need something a little more custom fitting. just another factor to considering for safety and form.

I just ordered one from Ironwear Fitness. www.ironwearfitness.com

They're having a sale right now and I wanted to take advantage of it. The prices are higher than other brands, but it looks like a MUCH nicer vest! I wasn't sure which one to get so I called the 800# and the guy was really helpful. I ended up buying the short Univest supplied with 20 lbs. of flex metal weights. They also have an "undervest" you can get to take the weight up to 40 lbs. It comes in a longer size if you want to go heavier. I bought the ankle weights, too!

I love Ironwear stuff. Those flex weights are so nice.

The ankle weights also can be linked together to make a weight belt, for an extra 10# if you ever feel the need!
