Happy Monday Gang!
Got to sleep a bit more as we were up late watching SBowl… I thought it started at 330 here… It was around 6pm! So staying up for that was a major accomplishment! DH VERY happy with Colts win… I was sad for the Bears but I’m one of those people that doesn’t want anyone to lose!

ANYWAY: Today is Back, Bi , Tri, & a little cardio to work away a bit of junk food from yesterday (I did well but not perfect). My Chest & Shoulders are still very very tender from Saturday that I am worried I won’t be able to lift the darn weights today! LOVE that feeling. For Back/ Bi/ Tri I’ll be using Amy Bentos All Pump Extreme, Body Max 2 and Oxygen Magazine moves.

Cheryl: Still feeling MMax? Hope today is a great day for you!

Gidget: Happy you found you get lots of points! That’s always a feel good day! So sorry you didn’t get your weekend workouts in but I’m sure you’ll just be a dynamo all week! Many people choose to not workout weekends so its not a deal breaker when it comes to weight loss. This summer I hope to be at goal weight and will just enjoy a day of Kickboxing on Saturdays and rest Sundays.. That’s the goal anyway. We are pretty active with boating & such in summer so I am much more active naturally.

Jane: FABULOUS NEWS! I can feel your relief! That’s terrific that your DIL is home + has support/help so close. I know you are chomping at the the bits to be there as well but your plan on Tuesdays sounds like it will be great. Please let DS know how many of your on-line friends are puling for full & fast recovery!

Belinda: I am so sorry about your fatigue. I hope you take care of yourself and just do what you can without beating yourself up! I have 3 dogs that tend to bark when outside & it drives me crazy so that’s why they are “inside” dogs. I empathize with you… little yappers can push me over the edge sometimes. Hope the situation gets resolved.

Amy: FUN party @ work! ^^ 5 on CC3/Monster…. That’s a great workout and because its new for your body I doubt that “just 500 calorie burn” is considered pretty darn awesome to your body! Way to shake things up.

Interesting note on my body gals… Since completing P90X on Thursday I have done cardio (along with my strength training) every day. Scale has crept up every single day! I tell ya- my body just cannot take all that cardio…. Ho hum I miss the endorphin rush. Maybe after Dr gets my hormones back in tact I will again be able to enjoy intensive cardio without blowing up like a puffer fish!

Great Monday Morning to all & will be back a bit later!

Good Morning!!!
Traci, that is crazy your body gains water, or whatever from cardio everyday. Most people are exactly the opposite. Are you enjoyimng a change of workouts from P90X, or do you miss Tony??

I was happy to see the Colts win last night too. I love Peyton, and Tony Dungy. Man, the start though, compared to the finish, it was complete opposite!!

I stayed in my Points last night, and used only 3 FP's. I was happy. I wanted more food though. I just keep thinking how close I am to my goal, I can relax a little more when I get there!!

I hope everyone has a good day. Jane, so glad your son is home!!!
Lori

Gooood Mooooorning!

Traci, sounds like your day was a good one.

Very interesting on your experience with cardio... I generally find my weight creeping up a little when I'm focused really heavily on weights, but I'm assuming it's because of the swelling around the muscles worked, and it sure tends to produce nice results in the longer term... hmmm...

I actually didn't get any DOMS from Muscle Max, which I'm thinking is because I focused so heavily on the concentrated work in Gym Styles and PUB/PLB last month... in fact, just this time, since I'll be traveling, I'm thinking of doing PUB this morning and giving it everything I've got after my cardio bout.... I'll take SS Firm It Up with me, since I can do it without equipment in a hotel room and it always gives me DOMS. But I won't have another chance for a solid upper body weight workout until Friday.

All Step is on tap for today's cardio workout - it's the selection of the YaYa's cardio party for this week, and I haven't tried it before. Fun!

Boy am I liking the data from SparkPeople. I had some of Nadia's ice cream cake yesterday. It was DELICIOUS!!! OMIGOSH!!! Baskin Robbins pralines & Cream with chocolate on top and nuts around the side. No cake under it, just solid ice cream.

I worked it into the calories for the day (590!!!!), but I can see that my nutrition and fiber were low for the day. So that would really compel me next time to eat the nutrition first and either eat just 1 scoop worth of ice cream, or to plan on making it extra and working it off.... ah, the decisions.

Anyway, have a great morning, everyone, and I'll check back in after my workout to see what everyone's up to!

Cheryl

Morning,

Man oh man, it's COLD, x( x(

Tracie: how strange this is, I think if you keep at it your body will adjust, cardio shouldn’t make you gain weight, I never heard of that. Keep with a few weeks and you should lose.

Amy: Thank you!

Lori and everyone to follow, Good Morning.

I had a blast over the weekend. Saturday, I started my morning with Scrambled Eggs, PS UB never happened ARGHHHHHH long story, long weekend:D I could barely get up this morning. My alarm clock finally shut it self down, I swear I could not move.

Tonight, maybe I can push out Legs & Glutes, I'll see, ttyl

Lori, you sneaked in while I was posting :)
I think your philosophy is a great one, that it's better to tough it out a little now in exchange for being able to relax a little more when you hit your goal. Good job! Especially on a party day! }( }( }(

Teddygirl, congratulations on the BM2 Scrambled Eggs - always lifts your spirits - and it sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. Now we're all curious to hear the long story, of course.... sounds like you partied hard  :p }(

Traci, I am having a possible theory about your weight gain after cardio - are you possibly dehydrating a little? Some of my marathon friends (advanced runners enough to know better) were having fits one time that they had just completed a 20 mile run and actually GAINED 3 pounds afterwards. They thought it was from all the Gu (3-4 packs max, 90 calories apiece) they took during the run. Duh! They were dehydrated, of course, and that's why their fingers swelled and they came back weighing more on the scale. Are you getting plenty of water these days?

I would think that as long as you keep mixing up the types of cardio - so your body doesn't just get used to it and adjust (like Tom Venuto says) - and as long as the cardio isn't causing you to eat more without realizing it or to scrimp on your wonderful weight work, you should be fine.

I do know runners who run their hearts out and gain weight (or hold even) - but they are using up all their workout time on running, not weights, and they are generally eating more (because they're more hungry and they think they can afford it).

I even have a few runner friends who are clearly eating disordered - they run 10-20 miles a day to support their eating habits. The most notorious guy I know that way is one we jokingly call "the running cadaver". He's certainly skinny, but doesn't look vital or fit.

I'd rather look like Cathe, if you know what I mean, and it sure is more fun to get the variety in!!

Now I'm rambling. Off to PUB. Didn't realize All Step is just 30 minutes, so I'll add on some TM running, too.

Have a great Monday morning, everyone!!

Cheryl

Hey Girls,

Not much happening here today. I am thinking about giving the floors a cleaning but I know once I start something will happen
:) or I should say someone will happen to wake up:)

So...I got up at 7:30 with Rylan but I decided to stay up. He fell asleep shortly after so I thougth I would get my workout in. But I didn't get ait all finished before Rylan woke up. I did the cardio part and one seg of the circuit. I then had to rush and get a shower b/c he was crying and I didn't want to feed him all sweaty. Im glad I got that much done though. Better then nothing. When DH comes home tonight I may try to do the weight workout part.

The point system is going good but Im a little hungry. I didn't think I was eating much food before but now I know that I was.

Traci, I use to find it hard to workout in the summer time as well. Between work, and BBQ's it was impossible to get it all in. But I am off all summer so I shouldn't have a problem getting my runs in.

I should go check on my son and maybe clean my floors!
Lori:)

I have decided NO workout for me tonight. Me tried, Tomorrow it’s on! I am going to take me hot bubble bath then head for the border, needing about 10 hours of sleep.

I have a new found love , a love, a love that makes my heart beat fast, a love I love to smell, you guys want to know what this love is, Instant Grits :9 :9 :9 :7 so good :D

Teddygirl~

Happy High Noon Central Time!
Well the workout is checked off today…
Back- Biceps – Triceps from BM2, All Pump, Oxy Mag
Circuit : SJP Minus leg work

Lori: Awesome job in staying so good w/ flexies at a Super Bowl Party! You ROCK! I do miss Tony A LOT but I also needed to confuse my muscles… No worries, my Tony is just a few weeks away from being top strength coach again!

TeddyGirl: A scrambled Eggs weekend sounds like HEAVEN! Hope you enjoyed your grand kids visit! LOL on the newfound love of Instant Grits! I was raised on those with a ton of butter and salt & pepper! One of my favorite indulgences now… oh yes… don’t forget the shredded cheddar cheese in there too!

Cheryl: Does Cathe use similar moves in Muscle Max to PUB & GStyles? If so that may be why no DOMS. I really wish I could think of a way (w/out going thru every dang DVD) to actually list the exercises performed. That’s the only way I think we can keep getting results with muscle confusion. That’s why I’m also starting to do Amy Bentos All Pump as she uses different moves & equipment from Cathe. I bet you love all step! Its short but really a fun one… Shoot I love all her CTX cardios! YEP- I find that if I save calories for my treats it actually really messes up nutritional balance.. I think it is better to eat normal and just work off the treats sometimes. Thank you for the in-depth discussion about my scale gain…. I think you may have diagnosed this crazy thing. I normally drink 64-80oz of water a day. I don’t add to that when I do additional or challenging cardio and I am a big time sweat gal…. I shall try that starting today. I guess I’ll shoot for 100+ ounces on heavy cardio days… How will I ever fit in my coffee? The other thing is that my calories have remained at 1300-1500 (P90X range)… If the water thing doesn’t do it for me this week I will note to self to increase calories by 100 a day and see if that’s it. If that doesn’t work I may just go to 30-40 minute cardio sessions 4x a week and see what happens. It just takes so dang long changing 1 thing at a time but I know that’s really the only way to see what the issue is. I really appreciate all the help!

Gidget: Good Job sneaking in as much workout as you did! Is it possible to have DH watch the baby 3-4 nights a week so you can do weights in PM and get a little cardio in the AM? Splits can be a terrific way to shock the body into losing fat. Just a thought.

Well off to do housework & errands… Have a great afternoon gang!

Hey again, everyone! Well, pooped out after 15 minutes on the TM... but figured that 1 hour cardio plus 1 hour weights for today is enough. Weighed in at 126.4. Pretty much holding even since first of last week... considering the treats over the weekend, that's probably okay, but I'm going to maybe have to mix things up again to see some more progress. Sigh...

Traci, yes, the exercises in Muscle Max are pretty similar to PUB, but the sets are much shorter - maybe 2 sets of 12 reps and then a bonus 2 sets with the band, and of course since MM is total body, the focus on upper and lower is 1/2 as long. I did feel a little lower body, but definitely no upper body DOMS. Really tried to push myself on PUB this morning, hoping to feel it tomorrow.

I'm thinking GS, PUB/PLB and Slow and Heavy are the real tickets for me - if I keep swapping those through and try to give it my all on each one...

Wow on your patience to try one change at a time... I'm impressed with your ability to do that!!

On to the afternoon - baked some PB/Oatmeal muffins for breakfast and to take along to SF :p :9 :9

Have a great afternoon, everyone!

Cheryl

DS is moving slow but moving. He is trying to stay as mobile as possible. I have to get start on MIS, that thing is 75 min long... better get busy. I'll bbl

Jane - I hope MIS is good therapy for you today.

WHEW on DS moving - this could be so much worse. Thank heavens he (and you) are at this point -

xoxoxoxo,
Cheryl

Traci, that is quit possible. DH loves to take the baby so thats not the problem. Usually in the PM I am lazier though but I think I should be able to fit in a workout. I just asked him then what time he had hockey b/c I wanted to finish my workout. He as hockey at 8:30 but Im not sure if my food will be settled by then b.c we just ate supper.

I got a question for you WW's. Do you eat your activity points or do you get further a head by not eating them? I was just wondering. I haven't had a chance to read all the info yet so if your not aloud to eat the points then whats the point in having them?

Must go clean up the dinner dishes.
Lori:)

Gidget/Lori- I didn't eat any of them at first. In fact, I didn't even count them up until I started with Cathe! Now, I don't know because I'm trying to watch the calories instead of counting points.

Hey, all, got back from breakfast and errands around 11a, went to check some stuff online and was kicked off and couldn't get back online!!! Don't ask me why, I was so tired, I couldn't deal with it, so I went to bed. I'm still super tired/groggy now, the DH hands me a letter from the Long Term Disability company (with whom we've been having problems with from day 1) stating that they feel like he doesn't qualify for LTD!!! Okay, that was SO NOT WHAT I NEEDED TO SEE! I started getting so mad/pissed that I couldn't even read past the second page!!! I almost broke out the wine!!!

Traci- I still find that it's interesting about your body "rejecting" cardio! I am glad that today was a good workout!

Cheryl- Great job on the party! I LOVE ice cream, although, too much doesn't like me!!!

Jane- I am so glad that DS is up and moving. Right now, his body is trying to work out most of the muscle pain/soreness from the accident. I'd venture to bet that quite a few of his muscles are very sore even though they didn't hit/bump anything, but there was muscle tearing/microtears occuring from the impact and the fibers stretching. A bit like DOMS in a way, but with a different cause. Getting up and about and moving is the hardest, but easiest way to work that out. He's going to have swelling as well!

Last night was too, too bad. I only had 1 bowl of taco soup, but I also had those darned tortilla chips!x( :9

TG- You are more than welcome to my world's share of grits, instant or otherwise! I am just not a grit girl!:p :7

Well, I think I need to quit rambling now, I am still trying to wake up, and having a hard time concentrating! I will see you all later!

I'm back and yes Cheryl MIS was wonderful therapy. That is a tough workout and I had to go back to Nov 2005 on my workout calendars to find the last time I'd done it.

Amy - he is indeed moving slow and very very sore. He is black and blue also in many places.

He and DIL just found out today that their car insurance will more than cover the lost of the vehicle and they had something on their policy that gives them a $2,000 lump sum to cover expenses. That was a nice bonus. He's breathing a little easier now.

Traci - interesting about your weight... I believe Cheryl nailed it with the dehydration though. That will make your weight creep up steadily as your body battles to hold on to every drop of fluid.

LoriSax - how's your dad doing today?

Lori/Gidget - I have experimented both ways with APs. I find when I am exercising at an intense level, it is best to eat them to prevent going into starvation mode.

I'm slowly but surely coming back down the scale since my massive meltdowns on Thursday and Friday. Geez.... I wish I wasn't such an emotional eater, I feel I'm in damage control mode 80% of the time.

I have to weigh in on a Tuesday this month, it won't be tomorrow though. Hopefully by this time next week, I'll be back to normal, right in time for my mid-cycle... oh brother....
