Weight Watchers CheckIn SUNDAY 12/3

Cathlete
Morning to all! Tree FINALLY decorated but unlike Jane my house is not spotless.... OK its not even clean at this point! Its quite frankly a disaster area as DH still procrastinating on front yard decorations.... Gotta love men!

Started a P90X / Cathe check-in by popular request for all those currently in process... I really hope its not in poor taste for Cathe but it seems that 99% of us are all using Cathe to supplement so I think it should be OK. I would be HORRIFIED and EMBARRESSED if we got a "lock out"

My body is so sore today from my all out marathon workout yesterday. I am actually happy that....PLEASE SIT DOWN EVERYONE*** I am HAPPY that today is Yoga X :p :p

We have a holiday dinner at friends so I will really need to keep intake low all day as my friends are Authentic Mexican Chefs... I LOVE dinner at their house!!! Usually a tequila shot to toast season, then full mexican spread then a tequila shot to end meal... Its a tradition for us. My DH has known them for years and I fell in love with their generous and kind spirits the moment I met them. A party at their house is like visiting the UN... They love all people, all ages, all races, all beliefs and they have an open heart open home mentality that just makes everyone become instant friends. They are about 10 years older than I and I so hope to become more of what they are as I head into my later years.

Anyway.... Sandra & Jane Whats on your annual Bake Off List this year? I bet you ladies are "from scratch" bakers tho.... not quite what I do but I always take a basic a boxed recipe and add my own things to it!

Jane: Thanks for noting the Dr Nick book... I forgot to put that on my wish list

Lori: Hooray on successful craft show! Thats the way to kick off your holiday season.

LoriND: Hope rest day was wonderful and that tofday you get to do GS Legs as planned.

Check Back Later!

Sandra- Thanks for the seconding (and Traci the thirding) of that You book. I have heard a lot of good stuff about it and have been thinking about getting it.

Traci- I would hope that you were sore from yesterday!!! My land's woman, what are you trying to do? Beat someone up!!;-) I am glad that your tree is up and decorated. For some reason, making sure my home is spotless has taken a huge back seat to other priorities. I am getting better, I just HATE housework. DH used to help out, but that's gone by the wayside and I feel like it's up to me to do EVERYTHING...housework, yardwork, mortgage. There are days that he won't even go out and get the mail! I get so frustrated sometimes!!! (Sorry, there are days I need to vent or I will take it out on him and I don't want to do that because he didn't ask for his disability and it's not his fault!!)

I love to bake, but the only problem is that then it's there and I *have* to eat it! It's just easier not to bake at all!!

Work is boring tonight with stupid stuff interspersed, so I am really over it and not in the mood to be here!!!

Oh, forgot to input my workout for last night. I was trying to decided what to do when I was trekking out the the mailbox. At first I thought it was going to be too chilly for a run, but it turned out to be fabulous!! I ran 4 miles, and it felt GREAT!!!

Amy: Sounds like you are really ready for a few days off!
I had to chuckle at your "do everything" rant.... When I "retired" 1.5 years ago I spent the first 6 months being a Stepford Wife (guilt induced I think by me not DH) ... anyway after 6 months I began to really resent & dispise all the work taking care of a large house, 3 large dogs, yards, car maintenance, cooking, etc..... I do alot of volunteer work outside of house and I was on over load so I had a meltdown one day and realized that I used to do all of it WHILE working a 50 hour work week. Thats when I talked to DH.... I finally got him to at least do front yard care, and clean "his" toilet ... I still have to remind him but at least I feel like he contributes to running of household. I cracked about about the mail... Yesterday as I am running around trying to clean up tree trim mess DH comes out of his office (was playing solitaire) and says... Honey did you get the mail yet today?.... I threw him a look that made him go out to garage and start the lawn mower!
Its in their genes girl...:7

Good morning Traci, Amy, and all that follow....

Traci - I'm glad I WAS sitting down when you said you were looking forward to yoga X. I remember your posts on that one when you first did it!! LOL....

I haven't fully gotten my list together yet for baking. I know I want to make buckeyes and Rolo cookies though. My MIL makes something called cowboy cookies, minature chocolate chips, finely chopped pecans... they are sooooooooo good. I am so not looking forward to having those in my face every day! No way to prevent it, she makes tons of them (I do mean a large amount) and sends them my way. My DH is only child and he needs his cowboy cookies and everything else under the sun associated with Christmas baking (get the picture)!! She also makes the most heavenly peanut brittle. I'm not a huge fan of peanut brittle but my MIL's is in a class all by itself. I've never tasted any as good as hers. She also makes something called nut rolls that are sooo good. Oh my goodness, I'm going to be in trouble. I am weighing in this coming Tuesday and probably won't weigh in again until the end of January since I only have to weigh in once a month.

I usually also make snowballs (cream cheese and crushed pineapple balls rolled in coconut). I believe I will make some PB bugles this year too. Take a bugle, put PB in the horn and dip them in white or dark chocolate. You can do Ritz crackers with PB like this too.

Regarding DH's work duties, he doesn't DO ANYTHING around the house. I will mow the yard and he did (I'm still reeling over this) trim the bushes in the front of the house this year. He will trim the trees but has never done the bushes. He always says that is mine job though I'm still not sure how that became my job! He will keep the barn straightened up but that's his domain anyway.

Buffy - I noticed you are our resident Cardio Coach expert on the WW forum. I am going to do #3 today at Tammy's suggestion (oldfirmie). She says that one is her favorite. Which one is your favorite?

Well I need to get started.... I've been up since 6 and got my bills paid and my budget up to date. On my second cup of coffee and need to get some breakfast in me. DD and I are planning on shopping today. I need to get my Christmas shopping done today. Next week is baking and the weekend after that I work and then the next one is Christmas!! I need to finish today.

Have a great day everybody!

THAT'S IT!!!! I am packing up and moving to Jane's house for holiday baking goodies!!! I love everything that Mom does, I just don't do it or it finds it's way down my throat!!!

I am SO glad that I am not alone in the uneven divying up of the chores! What's up with that?? I thought that us women were the smarter of the two genders, so how did the guys get away with it!!!;-) x( What makes it even worse is that DH used to do the yardwork and loved doing the yardwork and I wouldn't let him this past summer because we were having problems with a private investigator spying on him for the long term disability insurance company...trying to "catch" him doing stuff he said he couldn't do. What's so freakin' hard about sitting on the d@mn lawn mower!! Oh, well, I just didn't want to jeopardize him in any way, so that got added to my "hunny do" list (THAT one was my own fault".

Traci- I am glad that you figured out what was wrong BEFORE you had the complete meltdown!

Yes, I am ready for some time off. It's wierd, some weekends I fly through without problems and don't come out the other end feeling like I was pulled through the wringer, others, I can barely get through 2 nights and I am wrung out! This is one of those weekends!

Oh, well, one more night, just one more night! I can do this!x(

Good morning, Gang,

My, I'm soooooo impressed by everything you all do everyday - and STILL manage to consistently get in very hard workouts. I wish I could get up enough gumption to just do half of what you all do.

My DH is a darling when it comes to household chores. He put up the entire indoor Christmas decorations yesterday (with the "help" of the kids). It's only 9:12am here, and he's already well on his way to having the outside lights strung up. And this morning he woke up feeling much like I was on Friday and Saturday.

I'm feeling back to my normal self today. I was considering going to a pool and doing a 60 min swim, while DH played with the kids in the kiddie pools, but given how he's feeling, I don't think he'll be up to that. So instead maybe I'll stretch my legs a bit by taking the kids to a mall this afternoon and browsing around while DH stays home and rests. We'll see. I always plan on weekends as the time when I can get lots of work done on my thesis, and then usually never get around to getting a lick of work done. Very, very frustrating.

Traci - I shouldn't think there would be a problem with the new P90X check in. P90X is a very popular topic on the OD forum, and they've never been censured. And so many people using P90X want to know which Cathe's they can subsitute, anyway. Enjoy your dinner tonight. It sounds lovely. My Xmas baking is *always* shortbread cookies (my mother's recipe, of course!). This year I will also make Rice Krispie squares using the candy cane and tree moulds that come in the holiday RK boxes. I might make some other kind of square, too, but I'm not sure what yet. I bought and read the first YOU book last year. I really liked it. I lent it to a friend's husband to read, and haven't seen it since.

Amy - I really enjoyed reading about your run last night on the OD forum. And you are so in need of a night off! Only one more night, only one more....I'm appalled about the PI. It's really a shame, because it forces DH to stay within these limitations, instead of working towards expanding his capabilities. You have a lot on your plate. My house always looks like a cluttered mess, too, and I don't have all that you're dealing with to blame it on (did that make sense?). Anyhoo, as long as you get your scheduled workouts in, then you have your priorities straight :)

Jane - Oh my, your baking list sounds deeeelicious! I can not wait until my girls are big enough that we can plan to do things together the way you and DD do. That sounds so nice :) Oh, I don't think your SIL has posted in a long while, has she? Is everything okay with her?

I'm hoping that by the end of today I will have had a chance to sit down and closely evaluate the dietary recommendations made to Oz and Roizen. I would like to integrate them with my WW menus. I don't know if I'll succeed with that today, but I plan to try.

Well, the kids are clamouring for attention so I'd better go. Have a great day!
Sandra

Ok Amy- Swing by my house & pick me up - my bags are packed We're Going To JANE's for the month!!! Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here we come Jane! Got a cot available for us?????

Sandra: I will have to look for the RK squares w/ cutters....hmmmmm could be a great new thing this year.
I have to bake for my In Law party as noone else cooks or bakes anything... (wont get started on that again!)
I usually just break out the cake molds of Frosty, Santa & Tree and do brownies, chocolate cakes, cinammon banana bread etc... easy stuff. This year I am going to make a ww friendly type of Lemon pie w/ all my great lemons. and of course cool whip free!!!!!!!!!

What a wonderful guy you have there! Its so cool to hear about dads that are active in the kids life. I'm glad you're feeling better today as well but hope you dont over do... something wanted to get a grip on you yesterday... make sure its gone.

Off to get Yoga, All Step & Floor Body Fusion cranked out.... ITS VERY COLD & cloudy gloomy so my enthusiasm is less than adequate to undertake it all... Just gotta do it!

Hey friends!

Traci, see? Yoga is worthwhile sometimes! J How is Tony’s Yoga X? Do you do any other yoga w/os?

Amy, your run sounds like so much fun. I am with you on the baking. I just always end up eating it at some point in the process. It is much better for me to eat that stuff outside my house if I’m going to make it. My WW leader says, “Don’t bring the enemy home and don’t let it sleep over.” That advice fits me to a T!

Jane, your cookies sound divine! Your DH sounds like mine right now. :)

Sandra, I, too, love Dr. Oz’s stuff! I have been drinking that fruit shake for a couple days now, and it feels really cleansing. I was inspired by your post and may reread parts of the book today. What are you going to include in your menus?

The only thing I don’t like about WW is the focus on the scale. That’s it. I think it’s a really sound program, and the nutritional advice is excellent, but I hate weighing in! I was up 2 lb. this week at WW, but I know it’s mainly bloat (and part quesadilla) It’s just annoying! I guess it’s that little kid in me that wants to be perfect at everything, and it feels like I failed somehow because I gained on their scale. I am just learning to ignore their scale for the most part and not assign “good” or “bad” to weekly fluctuations as much and look at an overall trend.

One thing is, though, I am not that consistent with dinners. So I set a plan for this week and I will follow it! I am also writing everything down. That stops me from eating, usually, when I see what I have consumed.

I slept like a rock last night, and I know it’s because I’ve been working with weights again. Working my muscles really helps me sleep well. I love getting back into Cathe workouts again! Tomorrow is Drill Max, but I may attempt it today because tomorrow is a very busy day. We’ll see…

Have a great day!

~Wendy

Hi, everyone!

Wendy, Sandra, Traci - thanks for all your endorsement of the You, on a Diet book - I'd never heard of it, but hearing your advice bought the eBook on eBay last night for $3.89 and read the first 40 pages. It's awesome! Graet recommendation.

Amy, great run! so glad you had a good one.

Wendy, I'm with you 100% about WW's focus on the scale. They have such a good program, but that's my one caveat - so we just have to manage that part for ourselves. 130 pounds? 130 pounds of WHAT?? It makes a big, big difference and they really ignore that part.

Hope you have a great experience with Drill Max. I love that one.

I slept in this morning but could still only manage the warmup and first 6 drills of Boot Camp (40 minutes). So glad I did it, but I can tell I'm needing a rest day. I'll have to take one on Thursday because of business and so I hate to use it up before then.

Sure love what Cathe's doing for me lately! Even as a marathon runner, I'm getting guads I can see, both on the inside and the outside above the knee. I also like that when I feel my booty it doesn't feel flat (funny thing to describe, I know, but I've always hated that little bit of flatness, even at my right weight)

We're headed for a very good week. Have a great Sunday, everyone!!

Cheryl

Hi everyone....all the talk about baking is making me hungry!! I do not like to cook or bake, so that is a good thing. All the baking around here is done by my husband, but he also eats it all. Last week one night, he made No Bake Cookies. That was hard, they were sitting right on our microwave, a whole bowl of them. He finally finished them off last night. I am glad they are gone.

I am taking a rest day today. I am planting my behind on the couch, and watching football. Our tree still is not up yet, hopefully tomorrow.

Sandra, just curious, what are you writing a thesis for??

Have a good day everyone!
Lori

Today is my rest day. Tomorrow I start Week 4 of P90X. Yikes!!!

I'm really making an effort to follow the P90X diet from now until the end of the program. I'm still counting my WW points though.

Jane - Re: which Cardio Coach is my favorite; oh my, I'm not sure if I can choose. It really depends on my mood. I use 1 and 2 as add ons only. I find myself reaching for cc#3 when I need add on some extra calorie burning after another workout. CC#3 is the one I use the most because its tough but I can get through it after another workout without too much trouble. CC #4,5, and 6 stand on their own. Sorry, not much help. Bottom line, I LOVE THEM ALL. BTW I've been doing them well over a year and not sick of them yet.

Final Checkin for the day ladies... Got 1/2 of Yoga X done (got BORED)... Got CTX All Step & Abs done and Body Fusion Floor work done.

Wendy: I shall refrain from offering my views on any Yoga as I seem to be a bit of cranky head when it comes to ANY & ALL Yoga,.... I love the last 45 min of P90X - I guess its Yoga but I just call it great stretching! So happy you are sleeping better. Good job coming up w/ a plan for dinners as well.

Cheryl: 3.89 for YOU???? Oh My you are going to have to be my shopper from now on! Great deal!!!! Glad you slept in... You work very hard my dear. Exciting about leg difinition too! I literally cried one day as I caught a glimpse in the mirror of the "cut" First time in my life my upper legs are my best feature! Its so cool to see our bodies changing.

Lori: Enjoy your rest & football... hope your teams all win!

Buffy: Are you on last day of RECOVERY Week? Did you notice we started a checkin too? Starting tomorrow it will be called the Xer's Check-In - so far only 3 of us but its really a nice group of ladies there as well.

Off to my Mexican Dinner Party.... See ya all in the AM!

Hello everyone... I didn't get home until about 6 this evening. I have only a few things left to get that will not be that difficult.... gift cards, no thought required. I got it pretty much all done today.

When getting the things I need for baking... I can't find bugles anywhere... I haven't done these in a few years... did they quit making them? I've got a few other places I'm going to look when I go to my WW meeting Tuesday evening. I think I've decided against the Rolo cookies and decided to make oreo balls instead.... crushed oreos/cream cheese dipped in dark chocolate. YUM!

No workout today but DD and I did a lot of walking which I can count as "mall walking" so not a total loss. I'll do a circuit tomorrow I believe and then rest day on Tuesday due to my meeting and then December rotation begins on Wed.

Off to bed... EARLY morning in the a.m.... DH has to leave at 4 and I usually get up with him.
