I just got on the scale and I was so excited I screamed- I broke a slow plateu BIG time. I lost 7 lbs this week- I am 220 now :) So far I have lost 35 lbs in 3 months from my all time high of 255. I am just SO excited!! 199 is right around the corner. I have 85 lbs to goal of 135 and I just know I will make it. When I started out with 120 lbs to lose it seemed so intimidating but its happening :)

Donna has inspired me so much, I mean donna, you have lost over 200 lbs so I just knew I could do this.

I am embarrased to admit this but I only followed weight watchers for 2 days and I realized what I realized the first time I joined. I just can't change my thinking and count points, I need to count calories.

I stuck to 1,500-1,700 calories last week and it worked great for me.
My husband surprised me with a stairmaster this week. Yes, he bought me a brand new stairmaster 4000- the same model they have in gyms. I have been saying for years I wanted one and he told me he wanted to so something really nice for me. He knows all the weight was gained during pregnancies (I never gained when I was not pregnant, I just lost very little or maintained, but when you gain 65 lbs with each of 3 babies it adds up fast). Anyway, he told me he know how much I wanted this and wanted to do something really special for me since I am so dedicated to him and the kids. Its gonna be delievered on Tuesday. He said he knew I would want this over jewlry and he is right!! So now I have my treadmill, recumbent bike, stairmaster, firms, weights, and CATHE!!!! I have all the supplies I need for an amazing body, ok well maybe not amazing but certainly slim body. I don't think all the equipment will get rid of my massive stretch marks.

How is everyone else doing?

Hey Amynicole! 7#s in a wk is incredible! I am proud and impressed with your success, motivation and determination. I know you will reach your goal. You will have an amazing body
:) will all of the 'tools' you have! You're an inspiration...

Thanks Dee, nobody has ever called me an inspiration for weight loss. I have felt like such a huge failure in this dept lately. Your post made me smile see :)

Amynicole: You go girl :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
I am so tickled for you right now! And yes, 199 is right around the corner! What a great week, and don't feel bad about ditching the WW thing, it's good to learn through trial and error what will and won't work for you, because this is a lifetime thing, not just a "lose a few pounds before the prom" thing! :)
So if counting calories is your thing (mine too) then that's what works!
And super congrats on the new "toy" and please tell your hubby for me, "how wonderful he is for being a supportive spouse and supporting your journey both materially and spiritually!" I am fortunate to have a supportive husband as well, but not everyone is always so lucky, so we have to give the "good guys" a "shout out" to let them know we appreciate them being there!

Okay~TTOTM for me (day 2) so I'm not going near the scale, I'm feeling especially "heavy with fluid" if you catch my drift!? So I'll bow out on the weigh in this week. But my eating was really pretty decent for the "week before TTOTM." Usually my eating is really screwy, but not as much last week, one or two poorly chosen snacks, but overall, much more controlled than usual.

Hope everyone had a great week last week, I'll check back :)

p.s. Amynicole, you ARE an inspiration to me too. I love reading your posts and I get so excited when you post a loss, and you make me fight my own fight that much harder! :)

Donna

Hi All!

Amynicole: Congrats on your supportive husband and the 7 pounds! That is a lot to lose in one week!

Donna: I know the water weight feeling all too well. Next week will be better!

I gained 5 pounds on my cruise/honeymoon, so I'm not getting on the scale until next Monday. I am going to try to have a really clean eating week starting tomorrow (after I just scarfed down Chinese food leftovers for lunch!)

I hope everyone else has a nice week!

Linda

Congratulations AmyNicole! Good job! And your hubby sounds pretty amazing.

Tomorrow's my check in day so I won't officially freak out yet but it looks like I only lost about half a pound this week despite eating totally clean and doing CTX. Although on the bright side after weighing myself last monday and posting a 1.5 pound lose my weight went up by about 1.5 pounds all week. Finally yesterday I weighed myself and the 1.5 was gone again and today it was down another .5 pounds. I guess that I'll have to resign myself to the fact that the closer I get to my goal the slower the weight loss is. Although maybe I'll be down another pound or so by tomorrow. I've noticed that I go days without losing anything and then have a few days where I'll lose several pounds then it's back to days when the scale doesn't move at all. This whole weight loss thing is such a mystery!

Linda, I'm sure your 5#s are just from sodium intake and not actual pounds. I really have a problem with sodium and water retension. My rings go from loose to tight in just one meal sometimes :O

I am putting lemon juice in all my water this weekend to try to help the problem a little...

dee c.

Just a thought but ... do any of you measure with a tape measure as another way to see progress? I have lost so many inches and only a few #s.

dee c.

tape measure...................

Oh yes, every week I both weigh myself and take my measurements. There are weeks I'll hit a plateau and the scale won't move, but the tape measure will. I think measuring is important for the "sanity" reason as well. Those weeks when the scale mysteriously wants to add on 5# but you know you ate well all week, the measurements will keep you from going "over the edge!" The scale may lie to you, but the tape measure is always your friend (and bluntly honest!):)

Hi guys,
This is my first time posting in the weight loss check in. This week wasn't too good for me point wise. I am starting over today. The only thing I am doing different is planning my meals for the week, so when I get home I know what I am going to eat and do not have to think. The scale said I gained one pound which okay with me because I know what my eating was like this week.

Amynicole: congratulations on your loss. For some people it seems easier to count calories instead of points. I am just the opposite. I think the points are a little easier. You and Donna are both an inspiration to me. Keep it up.

Hi everyone!

I did 4 days of various Cathe tapes for 40-60 minutes and 1 low impact tape mid week. However, my hubby brought the dreaded Halloween candy in the house and I think I probably had 6 of those fun size Snickers last week.

This all added up to a loss of 1 lb. Better than gaining, right?

I did BodyMax in its entirety yesterday and felt good but wiped.
I've been debating whether to do the pre-sale and figured I might die an early death if I did too much too soon .. so instead I bought the RS/IM/MIC and PH/BM/MIS DVDs yesterday. (I am lucky enough to live two towns over from Glassboro!)

Well, now I'm now thinking that I'll eventually grow into the Intensity Series so I should get 'em now while they're cheap! ;)

Have a good week everyone!

Sharon

Sharon, I just got PH/MIS/BM and I love PH!!! I did it Saturday and THOUGHT I would do it Mon/Wed/Fri this wk but my legs/butt were too sore :O I did the upper body workout on MIS. My upper body never seems phased by anything so will be glad when S&H gets here!

I pre-ordered all of the new DVDs. Then, I decided I needed some to tide me over until the new ones ship :O I don't think anyone here will try to talk ya' out of pre-ordering those IS DVDs ;-)

I need to get back with this check-in. I have been at 185 for over a month now and need to start working harder. Doesn't it seem like the closer you get to your goal, the harder it is to lose? I have been working out really well, but not keeping track of what I eat or keeping a food journal. Which is what everyone says you NEED to do. So I am starting that today. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good website to help me figure out how many calories I need to lose weight? Also what is a good source that has calories listed in it? I have been on fitday.com, but we have a very slow internet connection and it takes forever to find anything out on that site. Any good ideas for me?? thank you, Heather
p.s. Congrats to those who lost or maintained this week. Linda, again congratulations on you marriage. Sharon- I am so jealous of all your new dvds. WOW!

My weight loss has definitely slowed down as I've gotten closer to my goal even though I'm exercising just as much as before and still eating clean. I think the body holds onto the fat more as your bodyfat percentage gets to a healtier level.

About calories, you might want to check out this website
http://www.hussman.org/fitness/

I agree with JenniferAnn, it seems the closer you get to your goal and the lower your overall body fat, the harder it is to lose, even exercising with the same frequency and intensity.

And its really frustrating when you're watching your diet carefully, eating well, etc. and still don't lose! But from all I've read and heard, if we hang in there, we'll get there! :)

Hi All,

I feel so pigging miserable at the moment that there is no way I am going to step on the scales this week. I can't face another week of misery-ness. I have exercised well all week, but I feel like I am getting bigger and not smaller. I fear I will blot out the moon soon, and I think I have PMS - mmm, lovely (sarcasm). I will try and clean up my eating and keep right on track with my working out this week. And I have done something positive this week and made an effort and gone to bed earlier, which was one of my goals last Monday - at least something is going right !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anna

Hello everyone, sorry for my tardiness in checking in - I've been in Dallas for the last few days.

Congrats on doing a great job last week, everyone!

I FINALLY found my scales (they were packed somewhere, remember) and right now it looks like I'm at 217. So I think that is 4 #'s over the last two weeks, which is great especially considering that I haven't been meeting my calorie goals too well. I've been experimenting with 1500 calories per day instead of 1200, and since I started that I haven't met my goal yet! I've been eating waaayyy too much.

I got my first Cathe video!!! Step Heat arrived Monday afternoon (It was just ordered Thursday for gosh sakes). I did it Monday night and this morning as well. It is just a great video! I didn't find it hard at all to modify to low impact. And I was actually able to keep up pretty well!! I am just insanely proud of myself because if I hadn't worked so hard at my fitness I never would have been able to do that tape. I know it's not one of her harder tapes but I am still feeling just great that I could keep up with it, even at low impact.

If things keep going well I should be nearing 200 at the end of the year. What a landmark that will be! Reasons why :

1. I will be more than halfway to my goal!
2. I will just be "overweight" not obese anymore (according to weight charts)!
3. I will be normal looking!

So if I keep on track I should be pretty darn close by the end of the year.

Hope everyone has a great week! As soon as we sell our old house I am going to buy every video Cathe has ever made, mwahahaha!

Hi Kay,

Congrats on the 4# loss and the move! :)

And just so you know, Cathe doesn't make "easy" videos, so it may be "less difficult" than some others, but NOTHING Cathe does is easy! So be very proud of yourself! :)

And wait until you "test out" the rest! It only gets better!

Donna

Hello Anna,

I read that if you are new to exercise then you will experience weight gain in the first month or so. After that, you will go down, down, down.

Check out the post I put about Oprah's training with Bob Green. I know it's rather long, but somewhere in there it does mention weight gain.
