Weight Loss Check-In 5/4/03

Cruncholi

Cathlete
Okay guys, we all skipped the check-in last week (unless I just missed it)!

With summer coming and the good weather already here, it seems to be the time to be more committed rather than less. I suppose we all could have been outside weeding our gardens, mowing our lawns, riding our bikes, walking our dogs, or whatever last week instead of hanging out on the computer! But I know I still checked the forums last week.

I figured I would get us started this week and hopefully others will join in.

I think I am down about a pound or so from last week, but I am still in my plateau region. I began doing my cardio outside for the most part and it seems to be working well. I also began using a real oldie--the original "Buns of Steel" with Greg Smithey for floor work for legs! We are talking leg warmers and headbands with bright colors and BIG hair! But I swear this video is a killer for floor work--forget about adding ankle weights. I would need a walker or a wheelchair. I also have been using Denise Austin's Ultimate Fat Burner for a light weight circuit workout. It actually gets my heart rate up quite high with lots of plyometrics! Has anybody else tried these out??

Tell me how ya'll are doin'?!

Linda

Linda!

I have that Buns of Steel tape and used to do it all the time. It is THE hardest floor tape I had ever done. Wondering how it would feel if I put it back in? Isn't Greg a hoot? Oh my gosh, I crack up at him. LOVE it when he says he is going to squeeze the cheeseburger and fries right out of those hips! His legwarmers are a scream! I think I need to dig it out and dust it off. Thanks for the reminder. Also, hope your "Loser" friends pop in! :7

RE: Linda!

Hey Linda,

You missed it! I started it on Tuesday last week since no one started it Monday. I'd lost 2lbs~wooo~hoooo! :)

But haven't weighed in for this week due to TTOTM starting yesterday, so by the time I can weigh I might as well wait for next weeks check in.

I'll have to look for that video, it sounds like a hoot! :)

RE: Linda!

I can't believe I missed it! I looked for it twice. I better get my eyes checked. THings have been blurry lately!

That Buns of Steel tape is just so funny. Grey Smithey is so incredibly goofy you can't help but laugh--that is when you are not crying from pain.

Debbie--definitely dust it off and give it a go sometime soon. You'll be glad you did. My outer hips are already sore from doing it this morning. I did the lower body of MIS and then Buns of Steel afterward. It was a worthwhile effort!

Donna-good job on the two pounds last week. I wish I could say the same.

Well, I better run.

Hi, another one bites the dust yea!, Another one bites the dust, and another ones gone and another ones gone.............. ok so I am happy I lost another pound from last week!!!:D Some of my measurements are coming down too. I did though get frustrated I did a percent body fat calculations off a site that was linked from this site and with my weight going down and my stomach too(at the belly button where they said to measure) my percent body fat went UP!!! WAY UP!! I just don't get it?!? I am not sure what else has to come down for the body fat to lower also?! Anyway I AM happy that the weight is down and with another half a pound I will be at the 10 pound lost mark for this time around.

:7

Never mind about the % body fat, I redid it and I must have left out at step because now it is back down again to where it was before, so I am happy again.:7

Hello everyone!

It's been a couple of weeks since I posted but I'm still plugging away. I can't remember where I was when I last posted. I have lost a total of 10 pounds. It was 11.5 pounds before the weekend. I was not a good girl. Anyway, not too bad. We leave in a couple of weeks for the beach and I sure would like to have about five more pounds off by then. We'll see!

Hi ladies,

I was hoping I could join you all on this check in. Congratulations to all of you on your weight loss successes!

Linda, I don't know if you remember me but we posted back and forth a few times when I was having my surgery to remove the ganglion cyst in my wrist. It's so funny that you mention that Buns of Steel tape. The last time I used it was when I was recovering from that wrist surgery and couldn't lift any weights. I pulled out that tape and laughed so hard while I was doing it. Then in the days after I was so incredibly sore! I should pull it out again one of these days for another laugh.

I won't have anything to post on weight loss for a few weeks since I have only been weighing myself once a month. However, since it's my first time I can say that since the beginning of this year I have lost a total of 32 pounds as of my last weight check. So I am really happy with my progress.

You all inspire me and I hope checking in will keep me motivated to keep working at it!

Hey Alison! Of course I remember you!! How is your wrist these days?Did you end up having a long recovery like me, or was your's quick and speedy? I was wondering what happened to you. I didn't remember the "K" after your screen name. Anyway, it's good to hear from you. Let me know how your wrist is.

32 pounds since the beginning of this year? What is your secret? Do tell! Did you have a lot to lose at the beginning of the year? Congratulations.

Take care,
Linda

RE: Alison

Hi Linda!

Thanks for asking about my wrist. It did take a long time to recover from the surgery and cyst itself. Getting physical therapy for it helped the most to recover lost strength and mobility. Then my right wrist was hurting terribly in the exact same place as my left had. I thought I had another cyst but then during my pregnancy the pain disapeered! The doctor said the relaxin in the joints must have loosened things up for me thankfully. Now I am doing well but still have weak wrists and have to watch any exercise that puts too much stress on it. How are your wrists? I will add you to my buddy list here and send you a pm if I see you online.

As far as the weight loss I had a total of about 54 pounds to lose. So far things have gone really well and I feel like I am making really good changes that can last. So I have another 22 or so pounds to go at this point. I could write volumes about all I am learning and what is working for me but here is a quick rundown of what I am doing that seems to be having the biggest results:

1) Working out (with Cathe DVDs of course!) I make a new rotation for myself about every 5-7 weeks.
2)I gave up sugar from my diet completely. I tried doing the one day a week cheat day but it just didn't work for me. I plan to try to have sugar again some day in moderation when I reach my goals (if I want it by then which I hope I don't lol)
3)Eating protein with every meal and reducing the pasta and bread etc. However, I still eat lots of fruit and veggies including potatoes.
4)Not eating anything after dinner. As Oprah said "not even a grape!" This has helped me so much. I was a big nighttime eater after my kids were in bed.

Oh and praying alot! My faith in God gets me through the tough times.

Anyway, I have rambled on enough. What are you and the others in this check in doing to lose the weight? I am always looking for new ideas!

Alison

RE: Alison

Hi guys,
Congratulations to all the losers. I haven't posted for a while because I was sick in the beginning of April, I am feeling a little better and started exercising again. I have maintained the whole time, with the way my stomach was hurting and I wasn't eating you would have thought I would have lost a few pounds but no such luck for me. I will keep trying though. Summer is around the corner and I am going to Cancun with my husband in July for our 15th wedding anniversary so I will keep trying. Till next week,

Phyllis
