Weight Lifting Hooks

I did not think I was going to need these, but I was wrong. Has anyone had any experience with the Spri brand from Amazon? The Altus have been out of stock every time I have checked.

Nancy, I love my Versa Gripps. I have the classics but if I could do it again I would get the longer ones, the professionals. Yes, they are VERY expensive but worth it to me because I can lift a lot more weight when I'm doing legs and back and don't suffer forearm fatigue. Now I can really concentrate on those body parts. If you look in Oxygen or HERs magazines you can probably find a coupon for free shipping in their adds for Versa Gripps. Unfortunately, I had to pay for the shipping. Good luck!

Thanks for the link. I've seen these before, but you're right about them being more expensive. Which ones do you have?

I have the classic series. You could google them and see if you can find them cheaper elsewhere. I know Amazon sells them and have seen them on Ebay. I bought directly from Versa Gripps as they had the best price at the time.

I've been trying to get VersaGripps in Canada. Does anyone know of a Canadian retailer?

Sorry, I don't. I checked their website and clicked on the "dealers" link but it was for those interested in becoming an authorized dealer. I had to order mine online but maybe you could email the company for more info on retailers in Canada.

Do the Altus hooks work with DB's? It's hard to tell from the picture how wide the hooks are. Also, can you use them for overhead movements like shoulder press or do you have to take them off?

Nanette

Nanette - yes, the would work with DBs. You can move the hook part out of the way if need be but I just took the things off - it was easier to me but they definitely will move down towards your wrists and be out of the way.

Thanks for the help everyone. Those Altus hooks are the ones I was looking at that are continually out of stock (including as recently as yesterday). I ran right over there and ordered.

Couldn't find the Altus-I really wanted this type(w/the hooks) but ended up with another kind-a metal hook that wraps around the bar. I had to get used to the hook-it's probably about 1-1/2" wide and at first it seemed to get in the way, but after a few lifts, it was OK. I could not have lifted as heavy without them. Also, when you don't need them, you can turn them around or just flip them up towards your inner wrist. They really helped me. Now, all I need is the tower so I don't have to ask DH to spot for me. Love the STS series.

I'm looking forward to getting mine now. They're going to make a big difference for me, I'm sure.
