Week of Jan 19 Pregnancy Check In

Jess, no i never did get to take the birthing class. MY DH Thought it'd be a waste of time and dollars. And other people said its not worth it that have gone. I did want to take the breastfeeding course but i waited too long. they offer it once every other week and it doesnt mesh with my schedule. So i guess i'm just going to wing it all! :)

Jen - does your hospital have a lactation consultant there to help after the baby is born? that will help alot. Also if you don't already get a breastfeeding book to read up on. And they usually cover various issues you may encounter. you could try to make a class after the baby is born in your recovery time or meet with a local support group etc also.

Laura -glad your appt went so well. thats great they have so much for you. I'd like to try a few things like the birthing tub or laboring on a ball etc.. but they don't usually have that at military hospitals. I haven't got to see the L&D area yet at my hospital here. I try to sit up more than lay back though. I definetly want to be in the hospital since the blood issue I have and just in case. My labors (so far) usually start to where I have alot of difficulty walking and by the time I get there they are coming hard and fast so I can't really do too much anyway.
I'm surprized you haven't accidentally found out the sex yet with all those ultrasounds! ha. I guess they are being careful not to go there for you?
I thought you looked kinda "small" to use your word in your photos.
I have a couple that are good friends of ours and both are REALLY small/petite. Their baby was born full term at only 5 lbs something. It was a girl. They live in the last city I was at though so I didn't see her pregnant. I don't know how much she weighed though originally.
Is the name Ryan a nickname till the baby comes or will that be his/her name when its born? Just curious cause some people use a nickname till the baby comes then name it.

Hi Jess--no, Ryan is the name for sure. We don't want to know the sex so it's Ryan regardless of gender. Yeah, I'm a small person and my husband looks like me with 4 more inches. That's okay! I don't like waiting until Feb 19th for my next appointment, but I've been really spoiled up until now. I'm going to the German hospital and the American hospital in Heidelberg, Germany is now only a clinic.

Laura -My appt is in two days. Seems like an eternity since my last one. haha. But mine are not all that fun like yours with the U/S every visit. ha. I just sit around waiting for a long time to be seen, then they measure my belly and tell me some boring stuff I already know and I go home. yay! but I think I have my glucose test to do this time. fun. ha. well I get to hear the heartbeat but since I bought a doppler I can do that whenever I feel like it.

Well I didn't w/o last night. I had a project I keep putting off I needed to do so I finished that. finally! I just realized my appt is at the time I should be at Seths weekly art class. ugh. So I need to call his teacher and see if he can come another day. Can't believe I just noticed that. doh! oh well shes really nice and will do that for me.

Hope you all are having a good day. Jess

Good morning, everyone!

Wow Jen! 36 weeks!! Woohoo! You are due in less than a month! That's exciting! I took the breastfeeding class before DS was born. I learned a few things, but having the nurses at the hospital help was key. To me, it's a lot easier to learn something like that when you're "hands on". I would still refer to the books/pamphlets after leaving the hospital whenever I would have questions like "do they always eat this often???" LOL

Jess, I wrote down the name of the classical guitarist to tell my brother about. That man is awesome!! My brother taught himself to play guitar several years ago, but I think has gotten too busy to play any more. Maybe it'll inspire him to get that guitar back out too.

Laura, that's awesome that your hospital is only a 5 minute walk away. No messing with parking. Woohoo!

I'm off to go exercise. I probably won't be back on for the rest of the day. DS and I had a rough morning of "not listening". He was playing Webkinz and it was time to get ready for preschool. After several requests, warnings, and a threat to turn the computer off for the day if he didn't shut it down, he still didn't listen so the computer is off (or at least while he's home). Gosh, I hope this not listening thing is just another stage he's going through.

Hi All
Jess - i think the hospital has a consultant there for after i give birth. Guess i will find out. I know a few recent new mommies at work too so i can always ask them for advice and tips if i cant find things out on my own or online. I keep saying it cant be too hard right?? Women have been doing it for centuries before formula came around

Tana - i hope your son isnt going thru a phase and that he is just having a bad day! I hope his listening improves for you.

Hi Laura! And everyone else to follow

Thanks, Jen! I'm hoping his day gets better too. Poor guy was so upset that he lost rights to the computer for the day. It's so hard not caving in and changing my mind. It's not too cold today so maybe by getting him outside he'll forget all about it.

My bit of advice about breastfeeding is keep trying. I remember it was soooo tough feeling like I was doing it right. I would get frustrated, DH would get frustrated, I'm sure DS was frustrated, but I kept it up. The first month or two were the toughest. I ended up breastfeeding him for a little over a year.

Off to pick up the little guy from school.

Tana

Jen - yeah I too agree that its an adjustment on breastfeeding. I think that women who give up give up too soon. The problems or issues they encounter could have resolved themselves if they stuck it out or had proper support/info. One thing I'll avoid like the plague is supplimenting with formula. The nurses did that with my first son without my permission and it made getting my milk in take longer and my son to have nipple confusion. You really have to get established with BF before you introduce any bottles (breastmilk or formula) using formula can also reduce your milk supply. anyway. I hope they do have someone to help you there. I'd have some kind of nipple cream or lotion the first few weeks to help with dryness/soreness etc. It will go away though if your nursing properly.
Wow you are getting close now. ;) I wish I was. I'm ready to hold the baby and be done with this pregnancy. I actually hate it that I feel that way. I think I enjoyed it with my last son and even with my first with all the complications. I don't know what my deal is.. sigh.

Tana - I Breastfed both my boys a bit over a year too. hope your brother likes the musician.

well my neighbor/friend came over today. She wanted to go to dairy queen for dessert. So I got a small blizzard. I feel so bad now. I never eat icecream let alone with reeses cups in it. but it was pretty darn good and I ate the whole thing. ha. ugh. I only got in a quick cardio tonight too. oh well. A treat here and there is ok.

Good morning ladies :)
thanks for the input on breastfeeding. IT will be completely new to me, and also to DH since his ex did not BF. But im determined and im convinced its better for the baby anywy and its what i prefer to do. I plan to take 3 months family leave, but when i retrun to work i will have to pump (somehow..it will be SO hard with the job i have) and i guess just store the milk at home and my DH will have to use the bottle. I got some breastflow bottles, which i was told are very similar to the breast as far as the nipple and flow go. I really wish i did not have to come to work at all after i have baby :(

Jess - its OK if you had a small blizzard!! You said you NEVER get one, so its not like you eat it daily. Its great to treat yourself to something. I have been eating crap at least once a day lately. Sometimes i tihkn, well i work out hard so that makes up for it, but thats not good. We had a bbq at work yesterday and its happening again today. i just had asmall plate of the food which was fine, but they had 3 different cakes here so i had some of the pina colada cake. i'm sure that was NOT a wise choice. Then we had leftover sausage and peppers for dinner and then after we had salt and vinegar cape cod potato chips while watching tv!! ANd then you just sit there and eat mindless becuase its snackng in front of the tv.
sigh...

unforutately DH works the next two nites. But that means i'll workout tonite and tomorrow nite. I need to do a workout with cardio and weights since its been since sunday since i last exercised. I dont know what workout i'll pick.

friday i have a dr's appointment in the afternoon with an ultrasound and dh is going with me :) saturday we have our work baby shower (yay!). so it will be a busy weekend.

Tana - is your son listening better today :) ?

Jen - don't get me wrong. I don't always eat perfect or something. Just icecream isn't something I usually get. I'm not usually an icecream person so I usually feel really guilty eating some if it doesn't do much for me. If I'm going to splurge I'd better LOVE it. haha. I guess that was part of it. Even though I liked it alot this time I still felt bad. weird. But no I'm not against a treat or splurge here and there. I try not to too often though. I try to get healthy snacks or stuff that isn't too bad etc. But I do like to eat out occasionally. etc.

Tana -hope your boy is being good for you. They do go in little phases. Every little guy can be a stinker from time to time.

Jess- oh i love ice cream so i automatically assumed you did too lol

About your friend, when people have depression or an eating disorder, there really is not much you can do to help them. You can be there for her, talk to her, listen to her, let her know you are there to support her. But you wont ever fix her. People with problems like that first have to admit they have a problem and then want to change it. The only thing i think you can do is be there as a friend and listen. If the other half is super into their bodies, it really can affect the other persons self esteem, especially if they have self esteem issues to begin with. Its like people who sort of toot their own horn and talk about how great and awesome they look. Thats great if you love your body and feel confident, but if you know the other person is having major issues i think it can be insensitive. SO i think your DH might be right, at least a little bit :) Thats too bad your friend has all those issues. I know you said she was on therapy. Does she continue to go? Maybe it would be beneficial for her to see someone. If she is already seeing someone, you can keep encouraging her. I know its frustrating. But when someone is in that deep, i dont think anyone can save them. They have to want it and work at it. Of curse, relapse is bound to happen. I guess the best advice i can give is just let her know you are there for her.

im no psychologist and dont really know much, but that would be my advice. maybe someone else here has something more to offer? :)

Jen -well I'm not a big dessert person. I feel bad eating sweets in general. It has to be really good to be worth it to me. I think I'm kinda weird like that.

Hi everyone......

Just a quick post because I am not really feeling well today.

I did get a few more baby things this week.

I will log in tomorrow.

good evening ladies
skyy - i hope you are feeling better! Are you sick or is it pregnancy woes? feel better soon!

WEll, its almost 9pm already. the evening got away from me but at least i worked out. I did BodyMax 2 scrambled eggs premix but i did not repeat the second round of bonus cardio. instead i did the weights and abs on the end. so pretty much i did body max 2 in a different order plus a bonus cardio segment lol. I kept my shoes on the whole time and my feet did not hurt too bad. my swelling disappeared but i know as soon as i sit down at work tomorrow they will explode again

i just ate my eggs for dinner and sauteed from fresh spinach. im still STARVING tho but we dont realy have any food in the house except some ceral and canned soup lol

i hope you guys are having a good evening! its freezing here in florida. i sould sleep well tonite. tomorrow is my friday. yeah!

Jen - We were scrounging for so long we also ran out of food there for a couple days. I couldn't find anything to eat. I finally went shopping. I usually make a big list (I have to make meal plans and be organized) but I winged it and did pretty good I think. They have these "meal deals" where you buy one big item and get all these other items free that go with it. Its cool to have so many coupons at the checkout and save like $10. lol. Well they had frozen meatballs and then you got free bread, a drink (i left it cause it was soda), pasta sauce, a canned vegi and pasta. The boys like that so I make it for them. I'll probably make myself some shrimp tacos when they eat that. But anyway. got some other stuff and didn't spend too much thankfully. so were good now. sigh. My boys eat like they have bottomless pits in their stomach though so I HAVE to go shopping. We ate canned soup and grilled cheese before shopping. wasn't that great. :p

Skyy- hope you feel better!! what goodies did you get?

Good Morning Ladies! :)
How is everyone feeling today?
Im doing ok, went to bed too late again and had trouble getting up. Thank goodness for that snooze button :) It is cold here, it was only 30 in Flroida this morning. What the??? I think all the northerners bring the cold weather with them!

Anyway it was only 64 in the house when i woke up. i got out of bed and was freezing. My little dog slept in her sweater last nite and burrowed under the blankets with me. she is too cute :) I guess she was cold too. Shse is a giant furball right now, i really need to get her to the groomer!

Jess - i love grilled cheese and soup, especially on a cold day! I had soup last nite after i posted. I was just so hugnry. I guess it was from doing Body Max 2. And even later on I had cereal. I was just a bottomless pit :( Oh well, waht are you gonna do about it.

Tonite My DH works again (in the cold, poor guy!). So i will do another workout, altho i'm not sure what. Tomorrow is my ultrasound. Maybe they will tell me what her weight might be. I am SO Curious to meet her!

I hope you all have a great day :)

Jen - well this canned soup was really grose. The kids wouldn't even eat it. The only thing slightly good was the grilled cheese which was just ok cause it didn't hit the spot. There are times I would actually crave one with soup but I think the soup ruined it. lol. We have this canned tomato soup I usually eat with that that is super good with grilled cheese. oh well. (amys tomato bisque mmmm)
Goodluck for your U/S! I have my appt today. Hope it all goes ok. I'm going to stain the chest of drawers I bought a week or two ago today if I can make the time for it. Busy day planned today.

ack. i'm so freaked out. ok so I snoop on craigslist all the time eyeing baby stuff. thinking maybe if I see something I MUST have a good deal I'll go for it. A few times I saw something I wanted but chickened out. It feels weird buying something that way haha. I sell/buy on ebay all the time so I don't know why. I guess I worry the product wont be like it was described when I go to get it.
Well this morning I saw a baby jogger that is like new (used once she said) and atleast half the price. It is $100 and up online. $140 on amazon. http://www.amazon.com/InStep-Around-Jogging-Stroller-Black/dp/B000C9DZ0G/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_i

She said she had ankle surgery or something so can't use it for a long time. so I hope that shes honest. Were meeting tomorrow morning for it. I got it for $50. tell me it looks ok??! It does fold down but seems like a pretty sturdy stroller meant for jogging etc. Not way to expensive esp with me getting it "used". I'll let you all know how it goes in the morning when I get it. ack. I'm nervous.

Hello everyone! Doing okay here. Sleeping much better since DH volunteered to sleep on the couch. LOL I feel bad, but I really do sleep much better. I end up sleeping crosswise on the bed. Weird, but it's comfy. I offered DH the other 2/3 of the bed, but he didn't jump at the offer of sleeping across the bed. = )

Skyy, are you feeling better today? Hope you're not coming down with something. Have you gotten some rest?

Jess, sending you good luck vibes for the stroller you're picking up tomorrow. I haven't tried Craigslist yet. I think I have the same "what if it's too good to be true" feeling about using it.

Jen, wow! 30 in Florida???!! Holy cow! I expect it here in KS, but wouldn't have thought it would get that cold there. Yesterday was beautiful here (and supposed to be today) so we got outside and played. DS and I did lots of running. I'm feeling it today which is weird. Sometimes I have the feeling that I don't know my own body any more. LOL Ahhh...I used to be "fit".

DS and I had a much better morning today before preschool. He got on the computer for 10 minutes and actually got off when the timer went off. I'm very proud of him! Makes the morning go smoother.

Wishing you both luck at your dr appts. I've got my second sonogram this afternoon & a dr appt afterwards. Woohoo more pics!

Hi everyone....

I do feel better today. I think that sometimes I just get really tired. Then I get headaches and have to lay down to get them to go away. I wish that I can take one day a week to just sleep!!!

I have been making a list of the baby things that I needed to get:
Baby stroller
car seat
bottles
bath items:
shampoo
lotion
powder
towels
wash clothes
diaper genie
bouncy chair
swing
one of those little blue bath tubs

I was able to pick everything up at Babies-R-Us (some of it I ordered on-line). The great think is --(and I guess, kind of boring....) everything is pink and brown!!! I love those colors together. I just hope the baby likes it too.

I am finally putting weight on!!! and I mean really putting weight on! I gained 5 pounds in 1 week! I guess eating ice cream bars twice a day is doing it.

I will log in later with personals....
