Hello

I posted before about wedding pictures in winter

Finally I changed my date to April 19. The thing is my hall has beautiful windows, a terasse and a prk. I feel I will het the most of my money in April. My photograoher wanted to actually take pictures in downtown since it will be winter and I have this beautiful parl around the hall. So now, I will take them in the Park. Only one month difference but it will change my wedding.

Anyhow, did anyone ever ordered a wedding dress from ebay???? like 20$, is this a scam???

I would be nevrvous to do that but again, a dress will cost me 1000$ without alteration.... for one night. It's too much!!! I would rather rent but the dress I like, cannot be rented. I will shop some more tomorrow and try different ones and see if I can rent one for 300$. But I have to like it.

I just wonder about ebay. any experience with that?

thank you

Darine, you can have my wedding dress!

Actually I have been trying to find a way to donate or sell it but have been having some trouble.

Most places that accept donated dresses only want relatively new ones.

As far as ebay goes I have had great luck on it. Make sure you very, very carefully read the description, and email the seller questions.

If they offer a detailed description, respond to your emails quickly, and have a positive rating of 99% or more I would feel safe making that purchase.

My dress is a very simple brocade sweetheart neck, short sleeve, creamy color. You're welcome to it.

It may seem silly but feel free to PM me if you are interested.

My wedding dress cost $250 from David's Bridal. I put a smudge on it smudged it when I accidentally slammed it in the bathroom door at the restaurant (how did the women from long ago manage when they wore these ridiculous dresses all the time?), and I never bothered to have it cleaned. In fact they wanted more to clean it than the dress cost itself!

Pretty wedding dresses can be had for not a lot of money - I agree $1000 is way too much!

My mother actually bought my wedding dress when I was in H.S. (was married like 10 years later!). She saw a Priscilla of Boston gown, just beautiful, at an estate sale for $200, and decided to grab it. Well, I had it altered and had a gorgeous head piece made to match... I loved that dress. I say, if you see something you like on ebay, why not? I think I would be wary of someone selling one for only $20, but if you see a brand you like a few hundred....

I bought my wedding dress on eBay. It wasn't $20, but it was cheap for a designer gown. It was a store sample and I got a great deal on it. I was totally happy with my purchase. Just be careful who you buy from and make sure they have pictures of the actual dress, not just the pictures from the designer's website or something. :)

My mother in law brought my sister in-law's dress from ebay.

First they checked at the local bridal stores and the dress they fell in love with was too much ($1600.00) for their budget. My mother in-law got the name of the designer and the style of the dress and searched for it on her own. She looked it up on E-bay and there was a brand new one being sold from a store. She bid for it and won it for $100.00.

My sister-in-law found a dress she loved at JCrew (which is cheaper than many gowns at bridal boutiques), but ended up finding the exact same dress, brand new for 40 bucks! I agree that you need to really make sure you're getting what the description says. I believe her dress came direct from JCrew, as they were discountinuing the style. I've also heard that many stores put returns up on EBay for cheaper than the catalog price.

My former room-mate also got her wedding dress from Ebay and it was gorgeous!!! I don't remember how much she paid for it, but it was beautiful!

I'm so happy to see this thread. I'm not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but I just don't understand spending a lot on a wedding gown. I got mine for $300 in 2001 at one of those gigantic gown stores. My DH spent a lot more on his suit, because he could wear it for other occasions. But a wedding gown is a one-time wear item, and even $300 seemed like a lot to me.

I love the idea of buying your gown on ebay. If you have a good tailor, you're all set! :D

I also purchased my dress from ebay.....$1.99 USA!!! It was a custom made dress!! They did a fabulous job. When I get home, I can post pics from my home website. The shipping cost $170 or so and the alterations were $150--but all they had to do was make a bustle, take it in a little at the chest, and take it out a little at the hip. So in all, my dress costs a about $322...FABULOUS!! I received it in 5 weeks.

Here are two pics...hopefully you can get an idea:
