Yes!! It would be very close. But, wouldn't that be a neat tie in story to the show? He could fly up really quick and then the tv cameras would come with him?

What does the winner get? Obviously I never watched the show before - a recording contract? Maybe a one-time gig on the Grand Ole Opry? What has happened to the other winners? Have any of them made it really big? Obviously I don't follow country music! Man, since it will air on NBC, everybody will be watching it! How does he feel about singing on national tv? I have lots of questions 'cause this is SO cool!

Yes, a recording contract. I'm sure there's more. If he just gets on the show at all, it would be great because there would be a bigger demand for his band and he'll get even more work.
Have you heard of Miranda Lambert? She was a 3rd place winner I think from Season 1 and she got a record deal anyway and has some hit songs now.
