Want to lose weight and quite a bit of it! HELP

Cathlete
Hello! I know people ask this all the time but I thought I might ask my own question about it. I want to lose 60 pounds this year - I'd love to lose it by July honestly. I understand that the actual weight number is inconsequential because I'll gain muscle (especially doing Cathe workouts!!) so I'll tell you that I want to get into a size 9-10 pants (I am in a snug size 14 now). Over the past couple of weeks I have picked up darned near everything Cathe has put out except Power Max, How to get Yourself in shape for Wedding, Step Heat, Mega Step Blast, and Step N Motion 1. I am not new to working out or weight lifting... just rusty as h#@$!!!

I also like to do Taebo advanced workouts and have started to pick up a couple other step only work outs (Christi Taylor's Solid Gold and Seasun's The Next Step). I start my workout regimine "for real" tomorrow along with a food plan (no carbs at night except what's in vegetables, eggs, string cheese, nuts, salads, grilled meats, etc.) I am thinking cardio 4 times per week (step and kickboxing) and weight training three times per week. I added stretching to my plan 3x per wk as well as Abs 3x per week. 1 day off per week. I would really like to hit my goal of July 16th - we are going to Sint Maarten! I wrote all of this to ask you gurus if there are any tips you can give me on making this successful. What have you found with Cathe workouts for weight loss? I feel like my plan is doable if I stick with it - am I being unrealistic?

Thanks for responding - I psyched to get started!

Hi Lisa
It's not impossible -- I lost 45 pounds between June 1st and Christmas! I went from a very snug size 12 to comfortable fitting size 6 jeans. (Just like they say in all the weight loss commercials,) I feel like a whole new woman. It is SO worth the effort.

My husband never mentioned a word about me being "chubby", but now he can't say enough about how great my "new" body is.

My best advice is to work out religously six days a week. Cathe's programs are the best I've seen. If you're committed to the exercise, the food will be easy to deal with. You'll become inspired and unhealthy food just won't taste good any more.

The first couple of weeks are the hardest, but you'll start seeing changes right away.

Stick with it -- you'll be SO HAPPY you did.

Hi Lisa!

I just wanted to check in with you and see how you and your program are doing! It is already March -can you believe it?
I wanted to let you know that I have the Step-works, Power Max and Step fit combo DVD, and I rotate it (I do 2 of them a week and then go to spinning classes at the gym and then also do weight training 3 times a week). Do you have these videos? They rock. I have never found cardio workouts that even come close to them.
I mentioned Spinning - do you have a gym membership? If you do, try Spinning at the gym and do the Cathe videos at home. You will burn a ton of calories, and reshape your body like never before. I also really love the Firm videos to mix things up a bit.

I also wanted to recommend fish oil capsules. When I eat low carb ( I limit myself to 2 servings a day of low calorie starches like weight watchers bread, 1/2 a cup of rice, 1/2 of a medium baked potato) I notice that I am not as inclined to be regular. I don't mean to gross you out, but if you are experiencing this problem like I have, fish oil works. It is also really great for your skin.

Also - are you drinking 64 oz of water? It REALLY helps in weight loss!!!!

Best of luck to you! I look forward to reading your SUCCESS STORY!!!:)

Hi Stepper86!

Thanks for checking in eith me! I just started the regimine on Sundy with CTX. So far so good! Today is 10*10*10 and I've already done Kickbox and Step & Intervals. I'm a little sore! :) But it feels great. I was talking on another thread about limiting my carbs to no more than 100 a day - I'm afraid to go lower while working out hard. I love spinning and I used to take a class at the gym - it is a tough workout!!! Maybe I'll add that back in.

Never thought about the fish oil.. when I was young my grandmother used to make me take a teaspoon of cod liver oil every week. YUCK!!!!!!!!!!

Bad memories on that one ! :)

Thank you for the pointers!

Oh, and I'm trying to drink a gallon of water a day. Haven't done it yet, but that's the goal!

Hi Lisa,

I don't usually look at this forum, but I saw your post tonight and remembered seeing another thread in the Ask Cathe forum re: losing 20-30 lbs in three months. Cathe responded with an incredible rotation. I'm not a "techie" so can't post the link for you, but I think you could search for it under the subject heading:

RE: Cathe, need a suggestion for losing 20-30 lbs.

I printed it out so if you can't find it and are interested, I will type it in for you...just let me know. But, be forewarned, it looks tough! Good luck!
