Cathlete
Hello Catheites. I will be computerless from now until December 6th. DH, his family, and I will be spending Thanksgiving in Italy this year. I am anxious but excited. And who knows, perhaps the Body Blast DVDs will be waiting for me when we return. No Cathe for 10 days. Yikes. Alas, I shall be eating "decent pizza" as Annette says, and walking a lot. When in Rome...

Have a safe and happy (not clean) turkey day everyone!

What an awesome Thanksgiving!! You will love Rome! I spent my summer in Naples, and then 2 days in Rome, so let's just say Rome was a godsend. You will walk a lot! Honestly, in 2 days of walking, you can see just about every highlight. It's great and, being off-season, there shouldn't be too many tourists. My advice is to keep searching fancy-looking ice cream parlors and try the gelato. My personal favorites are the cafe-flavored, fragolina, and fragola (wild strawberry and strawberry). There are one or two places that are absolutely fantastic! My DB went back 3 times in one sitting at one particular place. I wish I remembered the name. It is somewhere very near the Vatican and is very, very fancy looking. Not that it helps much, but it is a fond memory :)

enough rambling, HAVE FUN!!!!

Please, please, please tell us all about it when you get back. Going to Italy has become a mild obsession with me as of late. It seems everywhere I turn there is a little tidbit on Italy! Newspapers, magazines, articles, etc! A friend said, "Maybe God is trying to tell you something." I think so, too! We plan on taking the kids to Mexico, but after that I'm gunning for Italy. Have a great time. If you have the time, the new Gormet magazine has a section on Christmas in Italy. I haven't had a chance to read it (just got it yesterday) but it whets my appetite even more. Have fun!

Oh, you are so lucky! Eat well, and enjoy all of the beautiful sites!

When I was there I loved buying those Kinder eggs (Has anyone had them? They are German, though, not Italian). The chocolate is good, but the toys inside are so neat for such a small space.

Happy Thanksgiving!

My kids got some from their grandma when she came back from Europe. The boys loved them, and the toys are cute, aren't they?

Jilly,

If you like smoothies, be sure to try Italian "frulattes"--like the gelato, they are somehow a bit more special in Italy! In fact, all the food is wonderful. Not to mention the sites and people. Have a great time!

Hi Jellybean,

I am late reading this. You are probably on the plane but if you happen to log on at the airport or while you are in Italy here it goes. You are going to love Italy! This is my third year living in Italy and it is absolutely beautiful. My family and I went to Rome this summer. You will do a lot of walking so make sure you have comfortable shoes. Rome is very fascinating. What you will see is that todays Rome is built on top of ancient Rome. Have a wonderful time. If you get a chance maybe you can take the train to Florence. Florence is one of two of my favorite cities in Italy. The other is Verona.

Have Fun!!

I'm late! Sorry! Anyway, have a fabulous time and give all the details. And, Jill, eat some food for me;-) That trip sounds like heaven on earth.
