VERY High Intensity Cardio?

Dear Cathe,

I was just wondering, which of your workouts would you consider very high intensity cardio besides the Imax1 and 2 workouts? Would Step Blast be considered very high intensity? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks, and HAPPY MOTHER's DAY!

Vickie

Hi, I'm not Cathe (though I wish I had her body, hehe) but I think one of Cathe's highest intensity cardios besides those that you have mentioned is Maximum Intensity Cardio. Another would be Circuit Max, even though it is a cardio/weight circuit, the weight sections move fast enough that it's more of a cardio workout in my opinion. Circuit Max is the only Cathe cardio that has made me nausous, lol.

Step Blast is intense too and very fun, but a notch below the above mentioned as far as intensity goes.

Stacy, I have to agree with you with MIC it is an oldie but toughie, wow it gets me evertime, I am drenched when I get through with that tape.

Enjoy your day.

Debbie

I think Bootcamp is pretty intense, I did kick, punch and crunch this morning and was dripping when I finished. In fact I was so sweaty that I slipped off the ball when I started the ab section!

Hi Vickie! I would say that MIC and Bodymax would be on this level. Next in line would be Circuit Max (if you go all out). Step Blast is high intensity but not in the category of VERY high intensity.

However, if you do the following in this order you will have another VERY high intensity workout. CTX Step & Intervals (warm up and cardio only), followed immediately by the Rhythmic Step Challenge only, followed immediately by the Step Blast Challenge only (then go right into the cool down and stretch from Step Blast workout).

Good Luck!

AHA! Cathe is giving us her secret mish-moshes! YIPPEEEE!

Another mega-high intensity mish-mosh that I swear by is as follows (this works best on a 5-disc DVD player):

"Hi/Lo H-E-Double-Socks":
Circuit Max warm-up and hi/lo cardio segment, fast-forwarding through the first resistance cycle; THEN
MIC hi/lo segment beginning 18:45 minutes into segment; THEN
CTX 10-10-10 hi/lo segment; THEN
Boot Camp cardio-only premix (omitting warm-up)

That'll lather ya up.

On the Open Discussion thread I'll bump a previous post I did, "A-Jock's Fave INTENSE DVD Mish-Moshes" for you.

A-Jock

You might also want to search for a thread I started entitled, "Ways to Make A-Jock's Mish-Moshes Harder," just in case they're not intense enough for you.}(

And don't forget to wear your anti-cellulite shoes while you're doing the mish-moshes. I hear they work better that way!

Thanks so much to everyone that replied to this post. I was afraid that MIC would come out on top. I have owned this video ever since it came out, but I do it rarely. It's just so hard to get motivated to do OVER an hour of cardio. I will try to work it back in. On the plus side, I have been doing circuit max a lot more often and have actually mastered it (I.E. I no longer want to throw up at the end)!
Thanks again everyone.

Hello A- Jock,

What is
"Hi/Lo H-E-Double-Socks"?

My VCR is so old that it doesn't have a timer. Can you tell me approxiamtely where in the workout is

"MIC hi/lo segment beginning 18:45 minutes into segment?"

Thanks!
Angie

Hi, Angie! If you can picture each "sock" as an "L-" shape, then you'll get the full monty . . . }(

With MIC cued at 18:45 minutes into the workout (including the intro), that puts you just before Cathe warps into the HI segment of the hi/lo (after warm-up, low-impact and medium-impact); she's doing lower-impact propulsions off the toes and triceps extensions with a 4-, 2- and single count.

Ha! A-Jock - when you said "double socks" I thought you were referring to the fact that your mish-moshes were so tough that you would sweat a lot and have to wear 2 pairs of socks because it would soak through!!!!! Now I see what you meant, but I think my interpretation is still applicable :)

A-Jock! You are so funny. Now I get it - you have a title for it! Thanks! I am going to try it this weekend. I have just printed out your "MishMosh" page and plan to try plenty of those in the future. Thanks! Angie
