Vent: Why do people do this sort of thing?

So I was leaving for my hour drive to my summer Trig class. As I approach my car I notice a scratch in the paint. I think to myself hmmmmm could I have grazed my car against the bushes at the end of the driveway? I look closer and notice the scratch runs along the whole length of my car completely taking off the paint in some areas. As I inspect my car further I notice it runs along the whole other side of my car too. Someone actually took the time to key the entire passenger and driver sides of my car. In some areas it is so deep it took the paint completely off. It is especially bad around the gas tank cap with several deep scratches. I called my insurance company to file a claim and they are going to cover the damages but I do not understand why people do this sort of thing. I am the type of neighbor who pretty much keeps to myself so I believe that it was random.Maybe I will have to invest in a car alarm? People make me really angry sometimes.x(

Some people are so sick. I can't possibly know what prompts them to do such a thing. I'm so sorry for you. You must feel on edge.

Try to be aware of your surroundings and please take care,

Janie

The idea is to die young as late as possible.

People are idiots. That sucks. x(

One question - Do you have any political or socially opinionated bumper stickers on your car? I think those sometimes bring out the dumbass in some people.

That is horrible! It's only on one side, right? Is it possible it was unintentional? Like, maybe a pickup with a rake or something sticking out the side & a bad driver behind the wheel?

I have a new car--just leased in March--& I already have two scratches that took the paint off. The car is black so the scratches are pretty visible. Compound couldn't take them out. I live in an urban area & dings & such happen all the time in crowded parking lots. But these look like they were done by keys & I'm pretty sure it was a disgruntled coworker. People really do suck sometimes. :-(

P.S. Summer trig? EW! Talk about adding insult to injury!

I love my car. It is just a Honda Civic but it is still my baby.

Thanks for the idea but the only sticker on my car is a "Herbivore" cross sticker. It is the name of a Vegan based clothing company and magazine. However the actual writing on the sticker is pretty small and the sticker is not really that big so I do not think it would draw any negative attention. From the distance it just looks like a cross. I doubt most people in my area even know what it is.

I thought the same thing at first. Maybe someone, including myself did something it by accident. There is a bush at the end of my driveway I could have brushed up against or something. However it is pretty clear it was intentional since it starts at the front of my car and runs the whole length of my car on both sides. Also around the door handle the line diverts upwards which if it was some sort of accident would not have happened. I guess the gem of a human did not want to break up their line. x(

Some people should be flogged. Our society is going down the drain. Too many people just don't care and are so ignorant.

Someone did that to my car too. It's not deep but it's there. It's not a new car so I don't really care but why do something mean.

However, here is something a little mean that I do but only to ignorant parkers. Being from hillbilly Alberta we have a lot of trucks. And for some reason these drivers feel the need to take up three spaces rather than park properly within the lines that they could so easily fit between. So I printed out labels that say learn to park stupid. Driver's Ed 422-5555. And if I see stupid parking I smack that sticker right in front of the driver's windshield and those little stickers don't come off so easy. I especially love doing this when it's a BMW, porche etc. If you can't park properly, I'm going to remind next time to do so.

Hmm.. you said lots of scratches around the gas cap? Maybe they were trying to steal gas and when they couldn't they took it out on the rest of your car?

Well I was thinking maybe you have a gas gussler and someone was mad, but having just bought a Civic, it is about as green as you can get without going Hybrid.

I don't think any of us will ever understand why someone would do such a thing unless they had a grudge (not that it is an excuse, but at least a way to understand the action).

Some people are just angry at the world and need to take it out on others I guess.

Sorry it happened to you.
