Unrealistic goal??

I just got back on track with Weight Watchers. As of today, I have lost 16.8 lbs. There is a big celbration in November w/Florine Mark, CEO of WW. Now I really could not care less about having dinner with her... really could not care less. However, it is a goal. I have at least 94lb to lose total. Is is absolutely unrealistic of me to think I can lose an additional 33.2 lbs in 7 weeks to met the goal of being invited to the dinner? Am I crazy?? That would be about 5lbs per week. Now I know I should only be striving for 1lb per week but since I have so much to lose, I was thinking it may be possible and this may be a good motivator??

yes thats unreasonable

I don't want to be a downer. The first few pounds seem to come off easier. After that it usually slows down. Really fast weight loss does not seem to last long. If does come off, ok. But don't beat yourself up if it doesn't and don't be surprised if a weight loss that was quick doesn't just equal a weight gain that is just as quick.

Let us know how it goes,

Alisha

I have no idea - I'll make that clear upfront! I have heard that the first few come off easier than the rest, but you have already lost some and seem very motivated to keep that trend going, so I say go for it, rather it be that quickly or not. No matter whether you reach that date or not, your attitude seems great, like you can do anything. Just stick with that attitude, do your best, and know that I'll be rooting for you :) I think it sounds like you have an awesome start and should be proud of what you have lost, and your outlook for losing more! GO GIRL!!!

Well...

It might be unrealistic, but shooting for a goal is always great! ;) I always do better when I have something to shoot for! So if you don't hit your goal, fine. Just do your best, in a healthy way, and see what you can do! :D

First off good for you for losing the 16.8!! Second do I think it is unrealistic, umm, . .yes, . now, . . is it doable?? Hmmm, . .probably. I'm not an expert so I don't know for sure. Then again there are celebrities that go on paprika liquid diets that have lost tremendous amounts of weight. I personally just don't think its safe and I don't think it sets you up for success. Not that I'm saying you would be unsuccessful but if you were you might get discouraged. I know we all want immediate results but slow and steady really is the way to go with this, . . . it is a life style change and commitment. You'll get there. I truly believe you will get there but I would reccomend taking your time. Set realistic goals. Don't give up. Good luck!

Congrats on your weightloss so far. Way to go!!!!

I have a lot of weight to lose and the first couple of weeks the weight came off pretty fast but now I average about 3 lbs per week.

You can lose 5 lbs a week in the beginning but it will be mostly water. In order to lose 1 lb you need to restrict your calories (either through eating or exercise) by 3,500 calories, so that would be 17,500 calories less per week. Let's say you need 2,000 calories a week to maintain your current weight even if your intake is 0 calories (not recommended) and you burn 1,000 through exercise that is still only 15,000 per week. Not that I would recommend that anyway

Thanks all of you for the support and advice. I have decided that I will do my best, being safe and see where I am when the time comes. I will not freak out if I do not reach my goal- the real goal is that I tried and either way I am a winner!! Thanks again!
