So, what are you all doing for Turkey day? Any big travel plans? DH & I are staying home and being fat and happy and rested for a few days. Neither one of us want to travel w/ him working full time and in law school part-time and me always on the go with Aiden (19 months). We plan to eat yummy stuffing, sweet potato casserole, pumpkin pie, lotsa turkey and really good wine  Oh yeahhhhhhh...I'll be pushin' maximum density for sure ;)

Hey Debbie, my family has a very old tradition where we all gather at my aunts house and celebrate there. It's actually gotten a little old, not that we all don't love seeing eachother, I think we've grown out of it so...
in recent years the younger generation has created a separate Thanksgiving. No older generation allowed! Strict rules. :)
But we do now have two Thanksgivings and enjoy ourselves greatly.

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday.

LOL Debbo! I knew I liked you for a reason! :p ;)

DH, Joey and myself are going to my mom's for Turkey day. She's only about 30 mins north of us. My sister, BIL and thier kids will be there. Should be fun and filling! :)

I don't plan on holding back in the food department either! If ya can't "let loose" on holidays then it just ain't worth it!}(

I'm also staying home over the holiday (this weekend I'm going to Reno for 3 days:7 )...I have 10 days off from work so I'll get to do lots of working out to counter the food I plan on devouring over Thanksgiving. My BF is frying a turkey:eek: and we're roasting one as well. My specialty is baking pumpkin pies, and then eating them:p

I'm really looking forward to this Thanksgiving, bring on the grub!

I am inviting lots of people over so I suspect there will be "evils" in the house. I know someone is bringing a choc. cake and another a sweet potato casserole dish. I have my crucifix nearby though. I ain't eating no bad stuff. If the guest don't eat the sugary stuff then I am throwing it out!!!! Yeah, I am a sinner. Anyhow, I just plan the usual. Turkey with stuffing. Not a stuffing fan so no temptation there. I make my pumpkin pie with splenda and any other desserts that I might make will have splenda, wheat flour and enova oil so my digestive system still works soundly and peacefully. I am not so worried about what I will eat, I just don't want anyone's germs!!!!! Praise be!!! ;-)

DH and I will also be home, since all our relatives live too far away to visit for just the one day.(I have to work the Fri after) DD will be home from school. Our best friends will be over after the meal to join us for dessert, so I'll be busy baking apple crumb pie, pecan pie and maybe a cream cheese filled pumpkin roll. And I will enjoy every bite.

I'm happy to share Brandi, but I'm at work and don't have email or internet access at home. I tried googling Pumpkin cake roll recipe and found recipes that sound like mine. It'a a favorite in this area of the world.

We're going to my parents house. My brother is coming down from CT and my Granny and my great uncle will be there. Mom makes the usual (turkey and gravy, stuffing, corn, broccoli and the pies). I take the sweet potatoes, green bean casserole and the cranberry salad. I saw a cake in my new cookbook that I want to make.

Robin, I make pumpkin rolls too! I actually give them as Christmas gifts to my FIL and DH's grandma! Guess it is a regional thing. LOL

I don't celebrate Thanksgiving, so I'm using the week off (from teaching) to catch up on things (a committee I'm on has decided that this would be a good time for us to review applications! Drat and bah humbug!). I also want to do some fall clean-up in my yard so it's all nice and pretty for the winter!

I may try out some recipes from a couple of new cookbooks I picked up, including some "unstuffed" stuffing and some sweet potato pie with walnut crust. Or maybe not. I'll just go with the flow!

DH, the kids and I are traveling far this year. We are jumping on the John Deere gator and traveling across one of our fields to my in-laws house for good home cooking(yes I live next door to my in-laws). I at least reformed my MIL a little and got her to stop drowning all those great sweet potatoes in butter and sugar. This year I will allow myself to eat what I want but within reason. I have been eating super clean for sooo long that all those rich/buttery/fatty foods just turn my stomach.

I think this year I'm going to go the easy way. Friends of ours always invite us over - they have a big party for a lot of our friends. They cook lots of turkeys and other food, and everything is really good. We'll go over there and I'll bring my scalloped oysters (definitely not a healthy recipe!). I like eating well most of the time, but on the major holidays, I enjoy!

I'll be relaxing by myself--probably put on some Christmas music and do a little decorating. My family doesn't live nearby, and since I work until 11pm on Wednesday and am back to work at 5am on Friday, it doesn't work for me to travel. I need to rest up on Thanksgiving because Friday will be a zoo--I work in retail!

Usually we have a big family dinner but this year everyone had different invites, so DH and I are going to his folks for a traditional meal. I really wanted to try out some interesting recipes: corn and chive pudding, sweet potato biscuits, chocolate bread pudding. However, I have been asked to bring the mashed spuds, of all the boring things! :p

We usually spend Turkey day with friends in Houston. My friend bakes mean pecan pies. I'm planning on having an entire pie all to meself. Talk about maximum density when I'm done.:)

For the past few years, I've gone to my nephew's house with all the other relatives - not a really huge family: my kids, their kids, my sister's kids and their kids, my father, the nephew's uncle and his family. Anyway, the nephew makes the turkey, and we all bring the side dishes and I, of course, bring some kind of dessert. I always pork out on Thanksgiving, and sometimes fast forward past the "real" food and head straight for dessert. I also work out really hard that whole week, and have a huge Cathe step session on Turkey Day itself. I'll do MIC followed by Step Blast Blast and the cardio from HSTA and HSC.

DH, the kids and I will go to my moms for dinner and then come home where I will cook for us that night. I usually have a couple of my brothers over and we have so much left over. we eat on it for days! Turkey sandwiches!:9

We always spend Thanksgiving day with my inlaws. I do the grocery shopping and my FIL does most of the cooking. He roasts the turkey and makes the stuffing and mashed potatoes. I bring salad, dinner rolls, and pumpkin pie. I usually bake the pie myself but there's a restaurant that makes the best pumpkin pie I've ever tasted so I ordered a whole one this year instead. I don't know what they do but it's outstanding!

I don't worry about clean eating for the holidays. I keep it clean in the days preceeding and following, but allow myself whatever I want on Thanksgiving and Christmas days.

We'll probably go see my family over the weekend after turkey day.
