Unclean eating - the downward spiral

Bobbi-
Based upon your descriptions of yourself I was expecting to see a concave chest and stick arms, but I don't see them. You remind me a bit of Mary Tyler Moore on her show in the 70s. Toothy, yes, but in a good way. Anyway, don't be self-conscious. You and your kitties look great! Oreo's coloring is absolutely gorgeous.

Bobbi,

What a beautiful smile. You look like I pictured you :) Thank you for sharing that smile with us!

BOBBI WOMAN!!!! You look JUST like I pictured (except for some reason I kept envisioning glasses - I have no idea why because you've never mentioned glasses). And you have a beautiful smile and your arms are NOT branchlike (although your head was for a moment there!).

Thank you for sharing, finally!

Your cats are lovely also, but if I were you I would be vigilant about checking my shoes and my pillow in case they decide to pay you back for wearing them as hats;)

I find the photo extremely dorky but that is appropriate when I think about it. Still, I have delusions of dignity. The glasses are coming, Shelley. If I wanted to read Oreo's expression, I would have to hold her out at arms length.

Nancy, Oreo IS a beauty. She's our Scarity Cat. For years, no one ever knew we had two because she dashes away, under my bed, if you so much as look at her too closely. Make a move and she's gone that much more quickly. She was traumatized by my photo shoot, to say the least. But she is traumatized when someone walks into a room, so....

Bobbi - Oreo looks just like a super-sized version of our kitten, Theodore! The white markings are almost identical. :) I hope our little fellow grows up to be as handsome as Oreo. :D

Emily, Oreo is silky with a beautiful coat. She stays indoors because, although she would love to go outside, she is so nervous, she can't. The outside world is a horrifying place to her. Gabby goes in and out, has a scruffy coat and does not groom herself as dedicatedly as Oreo. Oreo is really weird but we love her so much. :) She's fairly substantial; her belly hangs but it's only due to inactivity borne of fear of moving around where she might be attacked. She had a sister, who was virtually identical to her, albeit smaller. That was Daisy but Daisy wanted to go out and experience the world and was most likely eaten by an owl. :( Owls get outdoor Arizona cats very frequently. One must rationalize the whole circle of life thing when it happens. I have memories of the sweet Daisy, rolling around outside and I missed her more than any of them. She was so funny. Gabby is rather more evil! :) . It was a record breaking 109 yesterday but Gabby still went outside to snooze. All of Ali's cats have been outgoing hunters and have been replaced when they disappeared because the desert is fraught with predators. Sydney has had Oreo for 8 years. Gabby is smart, much smarter than the cats she replaced and has hung around for about 6 years, in spite of the fact that she loves to be outside and outside is a haven of owls and coyotes and many types creatures which consider a cat a nice meal. If Theodore is inactive due to fear, he may look alot like Oreo. She is neurotic but she loves me since I feed her and we wouldn't trade her for a less odd cat although she IS odd! :D We all admire her beautiful coat and love it when whe forgets to be so darned frightened and comes in for petting and loving. :) I love the cats and consider them mine since the girls can be so neglectful and they turn to me, knowing I will feed them, change litter and give fresh water when their so called mothers neglect them. ;)

Bobbi- Silly woman! You are absolutely beautiful! I remember telling Shonie & the rest of the Texas group, I don't smile for the camera because I don't have big white teeth!

As far as predators, I have painstakenly learned my lesson after THREE white siamese lynx-points of mine disappeared!!! Bobble is not let outside the house- no matter what! Coyotes live behind my home & oddly enough the rest of the cats have been alright but my white, fluffy cats have disappeared. Needless to say, I sobbed so much, when they didn't come home, I will not take that risk again.

Bobbi -

I loved your pictures! We had a black and white kitty named Oreo. She was my youngest daughter's cat. This poor thing got a hold of a string and it got caught under his tongue. By the time the vet operated, it had done too much damage to his insides and we had to put him to sleep. ;( That was devastating and I'll never forgive myself for that. I brought little Peanut home for her birthday 3 months later and she's been a joy. She's a tiny little thing but super brave around our 70-pound dogs. In fact, I think she thinks she's a dog herself!!

We use the "food" theme for all our cats. There's French Fry, the 20-pound wonder tabby, Oreo, and now Peanut.

Thanks for sharing the pictures!

Angie, I always thought of myself as a dog person. We always had dogs. Dobermans and Pekingnese, as a matter of fact, as well as many mutts. The dobes were sweet, the pekes, fierce. We had a litter of each type of puppy at the same time and they were so adorable. I was about 12. My dad bought a blueblooded doberman called Baron Von Beaumont, or Beau, and he turned out to be a 105 pound lamb of a dog. Whereas the puny mother peke, Susie, my dad brought home with her litter and her "husband", Big Shot, a pure white bug-eyed guy, was very grouchy. My poor mother! She always let my dad do these things and we kids were of course, delighted. Beau impregnated a neighbors doberman and we got the puppies!

Remind me to tell you about the ponies someday. :) We had a cat named Boots, twenty pounds and she lived 18 years but she was no house cat, rarely consented to be fed and moused like a dream. The girls had a Golden Retriver named Buster when they were 5 and 6, but when we lost him, we just kept the cats. They have stolen my heart. :) I may get Sam a dog one day but who knows? I want a Beagle.

Thinking about Oreo when I told Syd she needed to take a picture of us makes me laugh. Even holding her and petting, trying to keep her calm although she doesn't like to be picked up and was none too thrilled. She'll swish by you to be petted but doesn't want to be held, EVER. While Sydney got ready to snap the pic, Oreo was suspcious of me, stiff as a board. When I lifted her to my head, she was aghast and was down my back and running for the stairs before the flash went off! :) Poor baby. So I went looking for Gabby, who's named for Xena's sidekick, Gabrielle, Gabby was not thrilled either but she is tough so she went onto my head with less fear but I knew I was risking being scratched or bitten and she puffs up when she's irritated. She was puffy for quite a time afterward.

I was in a mood yesterday. It was Ali who suggested I hide my face behind the tree since I did not feel I looked photo worthy but in the end, I couldn't resist. I was chortling at myself through each photo and Sydney and Ali rolled their eyes and told me I was so silly but they laughed too and went right along with me. I love that. Do you think when I am old or dead, they will remember how I so wanted to get a laugh from Catheites and would go to any lengths to do so? I think so!

It's so funny how you guys are to me. I have never laid eyes on you but I was thinking about you yesterday and wanting to get you to have as much fun as I was having. I was waiting for my computer to make the sound that heralds an email and hoping it was a email subscription notice so I colud post another faceless pic until I posted the grinning, full-faced one. I told Shelley we average 350 days of sunshine, I think I want to average 350 days of laughter and you guys do that to me so well. A day without Catheites is like a day without sunshine and at this point I am dependant on sunshine. Solar powered, that's me. ;)

Here here, Bobbi! I didn't log on at all yesterday and all day I felt like something was missing.... I was sad to have almost missed all the shananigans....your pictures were hilarious!! What a sense of humor you have! I bet your kids got a kick out of it! I always say that it's not the Christmas presents and the birthday presents that the kids will remember, it's the water fight in the bathroom and doing the running man in the kitchen until we're doubled over with laughter that the kids will remember. And that's fine with me!

I'm glad you didn't get mercilessly gouged or shredded by either cat! That would have been a tough one to explain....you see, Doc, I was putting the cat on my head for my Cathe friends....:7

Did something happen to Oreo? How old was she when you got her? What do you know about her past? Poor kitty. What's she so afraid of?

No, Oreo was a baby cat when we adopted her along with her sister Daisy from a friend of my then teenaged niece. Other than the fact that Maggie, the friend needed to spay her cat, she had a loving home. Oreo was skittish from the start and Sydney tracked her down and extracted her from behind a couch. I don't think she had too much opportunity to be traumatized. She's extremely shy. It has only been over the past few years that she comes to each of us, except Sam, for petting and she purrs, which whe did not do for a long time. Rich used to say her "motor was broken" since she was so nervous she didn't even purr. She has blossomed over the years. She loves Sydney most of all. It tickles me how our cats know who belongs to them and show affection accordingly. I get top honors since I am the person who sees to everyone's well being. I have long threatened to get rid of the cats since no one takes care of them but me. No one believes me. Not even the cats:) That makes me a paper tiger, don't you think?

Yes! This was a fun thread! Bobbie, your beauty shows inside & out. Now, I have to direct others to it.

I know how you feel! I haven't exercised since last Friday (10 days ago). I had stuff going on over the weekend, and then I got sick on Sunday and have felt horrible. I haven't been TOOOOOO bad with my eating, but definitely not as good as I should be. Today I almost feel 100% me again, so I'm planning on finally breaking the shrink wrap off my IMAX3 that came last week.

Gotta make sure I don't let myself get lazy because I just bought my first bikini in 15 years last week. I got a SMOKIN' deal on it too - $20! It was a $60 suit. Of course, I think $60 for a bikini is a major rip-off.
