Hi, Any help much apprciated. I exercise generally 5 times/week - absx2(usually Cathe, upper bodyx1, lower bodyx1 and cardiox4. Whilst my upper abs are nicely defined, my lower are fairly flat, but seem "baggy, wrinkeled and loose" when I bend over! I had 2 children a few years ago and over the past 2 years have slimmed down from a size 12/14 to a size 8/10. However, no matter how many lower ab exercises I do, my lower abs stil remain like this when I bend over.

Any help would be grately appreciated.

Same thing here. Two kids, too. I would be thrilled if there was a non-surgical solution, but I've not heard of one.

Here's to hoping. :)

I sympathize with all of you as I have the same problem after having three kids. It is fine when I am standing up straight, but if I bend over it looks like an elephant's skin:) Pilates has helped a bit, but it hasn't been a total solution.

Right there with you. I've had 3 kids all c-sections and I have a ridge of scar tissue over my incision that bulges out. Nothing I can do ever about it. It makes me mad too with all the ab work I do adn still it's there. Know how you all feel!!!

The skin over my abs is also loose after having 2 children in my mid-30s. It is very wrinkly when I bend over, despite the fact that I am not carrying extra weight there. I wonder if genetically some of us have less elasticity in our skin than others. I always notice when working out to my videos that Cathe's tummy doesn't have even a hint of a wrinkle, and she had two children in her 30s, too! Not fair! :)

Jane,

The skin on my stomach is fine when I stand up straight. It's only when I bend over that it looks wrinkly. I call it my twin skin since didn't notice this until after I had twins, my 5th pregnancy. My stomach skin was fine after my prior pregnancies. I think it was a combination of my stomach stretching more and being older. I also have a tiny waist. Maybe if I gain more muscle there, it might be less noticeable. There's a lady in my local mothers of twins club who got a tummy tuck because her skin stretched out so much. No amount of exercises would have helped. She loves the results but has a huge scar across her lower mid section. Mine isn't bad enough for me to consider a tummy tuck.

Well, you could always go to a plastic surgeon and have the extra scar tissue removed. My c-section scar has some scar tissue from doing too much after my twins were born. It used to cause a dull pain during my cycle for years. However, it's been 8 years and it doesn't hurt anymore or bulge out as much as it did. Like my twin skin, it isn't noticeable enough for me to consider surgery.
