TTC & Preggers ~ Week of April 27

Morris, Glad I'm not the only shedding tears! Sheesh! Sounds like you went thru quite a bit to concieve. We tried for 8 mos. for Gina but these other 2 happened easily. (This last one a little too easily! LOL!) Seriously, Fertility issues can be so hard - I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy. Well, excpet maybe like that mom Jen told us about! OOh, I love a rainy day! CF sounds fun and I'm sore from PLB last night. Must've been a leg day for the preggos. Hope the u/s goes well - let us know how that babe is growing!

My goodness--I've been a weepy emotional wreck--AGAIN!!!x(. And this last emotional outburst has been brought to you courtesy of my hormones, wreaking havoc on my life for the last 26 years.

Lisa--I don't think either one of us will get fixed. I will probably use the fertility awareness method with condoms during my fertile period. It will mean lots of charting, but I don't like the side-effects or possibility there of of any other method. DH isn't comfortable with vasectomy and I wouldn't pressure him. I figure, if we did have "failure" and I did end up pregnant again, it wouldn't be the end of the world and we'd view the baby as another gift from God. I just don't want to do it again. Oh and I'd love to have a pool, right in my back yard, rain and all.

I'm also so sorry to hear about your friend. Such a lot of sad news lately. A couple we know at church adopted a little baby 3 months ago and she died unexpectedly from a genetic and untreatable blood disease last week. The suffering/death of children is so hard to bear.

Kate--I'm going to have to look into the vitamin K shot. I'm not even sure why they give it. We opt out of the Hep B until the baby is older, oh decisions decisions.....Sorry you are so weepy. I'm right there with you. I wonder if this little girl is going to be a moody one?....Hoooo boy, pay back for me, huh? What I put my poor mother through...

Morris--The Butts and Guts leg blast is the most DOMS inducing workout ever, IMHO. I can't imagine what it's like to have to go through hormones to concieve. It sounds really emotionally difficult, so I don't blame you for wanting to stop at two. We can only do what we can do.

Hi Kristan! Hi Lisa! Hi Anne! Hi Lurkers!

Maggie:)
24 weeks, 1 day

Maggie, Add another weeper for the weekly count! Sorry you're having a hard time. We use FAM too - love it. I got cocky and quit charting, hence baby #3!!! My in-laws live 10 min. away and have a beautiful in-ground pool with a pool house to boot! We definetly abuse that priviledge in the summer! All the fun, none of the work! Terrible news about the baby. Ugh.

They give the Vit K shot to help the baby's blood clot. But tell me why the good Lord would make us completely perfect other than Oops! Forgot the Vit K! If you wait for the cord to stop pulsing before you clamp and cut it, Baby gets everything it needs. It seriously only takes 15-20 minutees for the cord to stop pulsing but hospitals are always in such a hurry. A doula said before that if you have a boy and if you want to circumcise immediately in the hospital you might want to consider the Vit K a little more. BUT! If you wait until the 8th day to circumcise (like they did in the Old Testament - smart ones!) than Baby definetly has enough clotting power built up. Okay, I'll get off my soap box now....

Hello. Monday was quite a day. My 5yo whacked her head running under a gate in a park (one of those "open" gates meant to keep cars off the road) and had to go to the ER for stitches. The wait was terrible. My husband was about to leave for another ER when she finally got in at 11 pm.

I had an ob appt. Baby is now head down. I learned something new too. I had terrible "side stitch" pain on Friday- I knew it was round ligament pain so I just kept shifting positions until I was comfotable. Dr. said it was probably when she flipped down. Her new position shifted my uterus and round ligaments and thus the pain.

I planned a c/s for July 7. If the baby comes earlier, we'll try vaginal birth, but if she doesn't, we'll do a c/s. July 7 gives me 3 days past my due date to do something on my own. I am convinced this baby will come on July 4 (I have a September 11 baby and my birthday is another patriotic holiday).

I ran 4 miles today. I meant to walk but got bored and felt more comfortable jogging slowly. This is the furthest into a pregnancy that I've run.

Maggie- Athletic Step Jam is Sharon Twombley- about 1 hour of "athletic" but interesting step. I REALLY liked it. I did the extra ball workout on Sunday and didn't think much of it. Until my inner thighs hurt on MOnday. And still today.

Kristan, OUCH! Sorry about DD! That would've been awful waiting like that! Last year my 3-yo. had to go to the ER for a febrile seizure - scariest hours of my life. Glad the baby flipped! How exciting! Do you know about curb walking? When you get closer to your dur date go find a road-side curb (on a non-busy street, of course!). Put one foot on the curb, one foot on the road and start walkin'! Being uneven shifts your pelvis helping the baby descend. Also, don't forget the good ol' sex stand-by to kickstart things!!! Glad you had a good run too.

-------------------
I had a very real dream that I was feeling the baby move last night. Makes me wonder if I really felt it. But I think I'm a bit early to feel anything yet. Anybody else getting very real baby dreams?

hi everyone - us went great! our little guy is so cute (i got 3-d pics)!. he is head down now, yeah!! he is also only a tiny bit small, though i do not place much stock in us determinations of size as 1 day before delievery of ds, they said he was close to 7 lbs - he was only 5.4. but, everything looks good, so i am happy.

maggie, that is an awful story too. so sad!! i hope you are less weepy today.

kate, glad you feel good. maybe you are feeling movement. that is so fun!!

kristan, great workout. did you run outside or on the treadmill? i need to be near a bathroom - every 2.5 miles or so! i am still just happy to be running.

i was so stiff this am (leg blast still) but did a great 8 mile run. the sun is out, and i am so happy to have today off. it will be busy, but no work work.

hi lisa, hi jen - have a good one everyone.

hi everyone - it is almost friday, yeah!!!!

i am so not into working today - could have stayed in bed all day or been outside. oh well. i got up early and did a lot of kickboxing, even though i was not really into it. i would have been really mad later if i had missed a workout on a long day, though.

how is everyone ? fun plans today?

we are switching ds's room this weekend. i have a big boy bed set up, though he will stay in a crib until he is ready. we hung some pictures of airplanes up for him, and he is very excited about that. hoping the transition goes smoothly. bbl

Hi everyone--

Kristan--I hate emergency room waits--I hope your daughter is recovering well. About that ligament pain. I get it so bad that I literally can't move until it passes, which is a few minutes sometimes. I'm like a beached whale, usually on my weight bench or in bed--totally paralyzed. My fear is that something of an urgent nature will occur and I will be helpless to do anything about it.

Kate--you'll be feeling that baby soon, if you haven't already...I usually have really vivid dreams of movement just before I start feeling the baby move. Thanks for the information about the vit K shot.

Morris--I'm glad your ultrasound was a joy and aren't those 3d pics neat? Maybe they are getting more free with them, because this is the first time I've got any. How far along are you now? I remember 33 weeks a while ago, so you must be getting close--hurray!

Hi Lisa! Hi Jen! Hi Anne!

Maggie:)
24 weeks, 3 days

Morris, Good luck with the bedroom switch. Thankfully, both DDs did it effortlessly but I know it can be hard.

Maggie, That ligament pain is awful. I got it a lot post-WO w/ preg2. I always hobbled into the chiros. I was there A LOT. I had some in the beginning this time but thankfully no more.

You guys are making me want my u/s NOW!!!! I hope I get 3D pics too!
DD1 looks just like DH, DD2 looks just like me. I'm curious who this one will look like.

All is well - feeling good, working out. Thinking about following a more formal rotation. Right now I'm just doing whatever I feel like working, but still keeping track of body parts and cardio. Should do a rotation though.

Have a good one!

i'd love a rotation too, kate. i did 3 weeks of 4ds wts, 4 wks of gym style weights, 2 weeks of pyramids, then this week was circuit weights only (i do what i want for cardio). now i am about to start again on 4 ds, but i'd love some suggestions. are you going to find out the sex of your baby? i did not get 3d pics at 20 weeks but now i did (i also asked!)

maggie, i am 32 weeks and counting down. i cannot wait to meet my little one, although i am terrified of neglecting ds1

Morris, Yes we will find out. I am so ready to start getting my room scheme down. Also, DH and I will begin arguments over the name if its a boy! j/k - lol! We cannot decide - girl names have never been a problem but boy names,,,. yikes. If this is a girl her name will be Julia Kate. You won't neglect ds. You are a good mom and (somehow!:) ) you will find balance.

Morris - Yay for a good u/s and 3D pics! Aren't those the neatest? You'll do just fine with giving both enough love and attention. It will be a juggle at first, but you'll figure out what works.

Maggie - I'm about to start my 2nd trimester and I feel pretty whale like already. I don't remember getting this big so quick with my first 2 pgs. I guess everything is stretched out already.

Kate - Sounds like you're getting back into the swing of working out. I'm not quite there yet even though I have been doing more than before. I'm not so much nauseated anymore, but the fatigue. Maybe I need to get more iron, but I hate the thought of it constipating me even more.

I am ready for bed. No workout today, but yesterday I did legs and went for a walk. I did shoulders the other day and some cardio. My energy level is still really low. I'll be 14 weeks in a few days so maybe sometime soon my burst of energy will come?

Lisa

lisa and kate, thanks for the words of wisdom and encouragement. most days i feel like i will be just fine, other days i worry a bit. hopefully i will have a bit of time to adjust before dh travels again!

lisa, sorry the energy is so low. perhaps you can get your iron levels checked? i definately am less energetic this pregnancy than last. while i am grateful to be able to do all i do, it definately is not easy. you got in some great workouts!

kate, i love the name julia! i think girls names are easier too. we confirmed the boy status at the us - bummer b/c i had a girl name all picked out. back to the drawing bboard with boy names, but seeing my little guy did help me rule some out.

i got up early and hit the treadmill for 8 mil this am. so glad i got that done. dh and i are going out for dinner tonight, and i am really looking forward to time with him. i wish i had a better appetite in the evenings, but, perhaps i can manage some desert:) have a good day everyone.

Lisa, Someone mentioned taking extra B vitamins helps with nausea. As far as energy... While I'mnot really nauseous anymore I don't feel like I have the hyped-up energy burst.

Morris, How long will it be before DH has to be out on the road? My DH will stay home for a couple days but he'll be on the phone constantly. NOT one of the perks of being self-employed! What are some of the boy names you're thinking of? (if you're telling) My faves are Jackson, Gavin, and Calvin, but DH says no to all of them. Bummer. Have a fun date night! We had one a few weeks ago but I'd like another one. Where are you going?

kate, dh's trips come up unexpectedly, and for varying durations in time. it is a blessing he is so flexible. i on the other hand, am not! would not do well with his job. i love the boy names connor, declan, and alex. dh hates alex but is not too opinionated on connor and declan. he likes jack and liam. i like both names, but jack especailly does not fit our pictures. i already have him pegged as connor. ds1 is finn joseph, and it is perfect. he cannot say his f's, so he calls himself ninn, or, if he is being crazy, he yells,"go ninny go!!" he is so adorable, it makes me melt. but i am biased:)

we will just go out for dinner and a walk tonight. i just love the chance to sit and talk without distractions.

Morris, Is one of you Irish? THere is a little red-haired Irish boy named Liam in DDs kindergarten class. Cute. Your little Finn sounds too cute. I love that name! Have a wonderful dinner out tongiht! Do you have family babysit or someone you hire? I'm lucky - 2 teenage sisters that owe me TONS of favors! My 18-yo sis just got her 1st ticket and I wrote out the check for her and helped her with the paperwork. shhhhh...! I think that's worth a night out, don't you?!

I just got my Pregzilla shirt delivered!!!

Hi,
I am super glad it's Friday. I went out for Happy Hour with co-workers for a bit. Of course, I enjoyed my lemonade and water! DH is out getting a new TV right now. He has been waiting forever to get it, and we've been saving for that, so he is thrilled. I, on the other hand, never even get a moment to watch TV, so I don't really care.
My Y inf is going away-thank God! I feel good too, and I am definitely growing! I took two long walks this week. The one I took lastnight was by myself, and I listened to the new Madonna album on my ipod, so I walked superfast. Any Madonna fans out there? Her new album takes some getting used to. I love Confessions, but this one has to grow on me a bit...very hip-hoppy.
Still no word on my student. Abuse is suspected, but other than that, I still haven't seen her and have no idea what foster placement she is in. All 8 kids were removed (4 school age/4 at home).
Morris-I know what you mean about getting scared about neglecting your first child. I feel the same way. The ladies I went out with today said you just do it, and it will be fine. Congrats on the u/s pics. I feel that I am having another boy too, but we won't find out until 3 more weeks. Boy names are tough to pick out. All the ones we like are taken by family members or close friends' kids already. We like Aydan Joseph. I liked that spelling, and believe it or not, my DH picked it out. Our first DS is Andrew Michael (or "Andy"). A lot of kids' names are ruined for me too, if I had a really bad student with a name I used to like.
Maggie-I had horrible round ligament pain with my first preg. I wore one of those support belts (elastic), and it helped a tiny bit, but not much. It was painful! I feel for you, and I hope you get relief soon.
Kate-How is your shirt? I was on the fence about ordering it because of the high neckline. I am super picky about that cause my boobs are gigantic, and high necklines don't look right on me. I like low cut or v-necks.
Hi Kristan, Anne and Lisa!
Have a great weekend. Anything fun planned? We have a birthday party (yet again) to go to tomorrow afternoon and a picnic on Sunday if it doesn't get rained out.
-Jen

Jen, Glad the y.inf is clearing up - yuck. Those are miserable. A lady I know described it once as "I feel like riding a branch!" Kinda visual, but always makes me LOL! Oh man, I loved Madonna back in the day - not too crazy about her anymore. A fast walk sounds great. How sad to not know anything about your student. I don't know how you teachers do it. It would break my heart to see that kind of thing all the time. I work in DDs classrooms and it kills me how some of those kids are literally starved for attention. The shirt is great! I'm normally a v-neck only person too but these crew necks don't feel too high. The fit is fantastic and the fabric is silky smooth. Everybody gets a chuckle out of them wherever I go. Hope the bday party goes well - I have another baby shower (not mine!) tomorrow. Open wallet lately!! Sheesh!

Speaking of showers.....
What do you gals think of baby showers past your 1st baby? I say it's fun to get new stuff. A couple years ago I offered to throw a shower for a mom who was having her 3rd and she absolutely refused and said she thought it was tacky after a 1st baby. I don't think so! I buy a gift for every baby that's born, not just the 1st. A mom at our preschool is throwing a "sprinkle" for her friend who is having a 2nd baby - I think that is so cute. What if your 2nd/3rd/etc is the opposite sex? And the 1st ones clothes aren't always ALL in hand-me-down condition if it IS the same sex. Or maybe its been YEARS (ahem!) since you had a baby. Just some random rambling... Anybody here getting a shower for your 2nd+ baby??

Hi everyone--dh and oldest son are gone for the scout camporee, so I'm a single mom until about 10:00 pm tomorrow PST....

I worked in the garden again today--my dear Uncle-in-law made me some raised beds and they look great, but what am I supposed to fill them with? so I dug up some of our yard to put in them. Don't be too horrified, our back yard looks like the 3rd world because I do very little yard work and the kids play really hard. Things are changing, because 13 yo ds is becoming a very useful boy and I am making him do yard stuff to earn boy scout camp and other stuff we pay for...

Then we ate a junky dinner (because when dad is gone, they get to pick WHATEVER they want to eat), cleaned up to a compilation CD 13 yo ds made for younger sisters (Rush, Queensryche, and Wierd Al....don't ask), ate junky snacks and watched Nancy Drew, because when the guys are gone, we always get pre teen girl movies to watch...

Kate--I love the name Julia. We have avoided "J" names, because our last name starts with a J and my husband is funny about that, but anyway....I hope you can find a boy name you both like, if it's a boy. I did end up with more than one shower, but not of my own doing. Our church gave me one for baby #2, because I was due the same time as the pastor's wife and I guess they felt it would have been rude to exclude me. Our bible study gave me a very small one for baby #3. Baby #4 has downs, as I've mentioned, and spent a month in NICU. Our church had a huge shower for me--I mean it was overwhelming how many women came. I have not had a shower since, and I don't want one--I mean it's baby #7 for me:p :p .

Morris--you will not neglect your first child. Somehow, the more children, the more the love expands, I find. I love the name Finn--very irish, which appeals to my scots/irish heritage. Oh and would you like to borrow my appetite? I'm eating enough for 2 regular sized people.

Lisa--you and Kate must be very close in terms of due date. My 2nd trimester burst of energy didn't come until just this last week--about 24 weeks along. It must be because I'm almost 40, I'm thinking. At least it came. I was starting to wonder.

Jen--I'm glad your infection is going away. I'm sorry to hear about your student. If they get taken out of the home, don't they still go to school? or has she been moved to another district? As if she needs more upheaval right now. You'd think they'd try to keep her life as constant as possible, but I really have no idea of how these things work.

Hi Anne, Hi Kristan--

My 2 year old just came downstairs to me covered in something that looks like gobs of snot, but smells like banana...I'd better go check it out.

take care all
Maggie
